Fuel pump shut off system
NOTICE
■Before starting the engine
Inspect the ground under the vehicle.
If you find that fuel has leaked on to the ground, the fuel system has been damaged
and it is in
need of repair. Do not restart the engine.
The fuel pump shut off system stops suppl ying fuel to the engine to minimize
the risk of fuel leakage when the en gine stalls or an airbag inflates.
■To restart the engine after the system activates
Turn the ignition switch to ACC or LOCK once.
Restart it.

Event data recorder
In a crash or a near car crash event
This device records some or all of the following information.
• Engine speed
• Whether the brake pedal was applied or not
• Vehicle speed
• To what extent the accelerator pedal was depressed
• Position of the transmission selector lever
• Whether the driver and front passenger wore the seat belts or not
• Driver's seat position
• SRS airbag deployment data
• SRS airbag system diagnostic data
Your vehicle has computers that monitor and control certain aspects of your
vehicle. These computers assist in dr iving and maintaining optimal vehicle
performance.

Besides storing data useful for troubles hooting,
there is a system to record
data in a crash or a near car crash event.

Disclosure of the data
Lexus will not disclose the data recorded in an EDR to a third party
except when:
• An agreement from the vehicle's owner (or the leasing company for a
leased v
ehicle) is obtained
• Officially requested by the police or other authorities
• Used as a defense for Lexus in a law suit
• Ordered by a court of law
However, if necessary Lexus will:
• Use the data for research on Lexus vehicle safety performance
• Disclose the data to a third party for r
esearch purposes without dis-
closing details of the vehicle owner, and only when it is deemed neces -
sary
• Disclose summarized data cleared of v
ehicle identification information
to a non-Lexus organization for research purposes

If a warning light turns on...
If the brake system warning light comes on, stop the vehicle immediately.
The following warning indicates a possible problem in the brake system.
Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous. 
Immediately stop the vehicl e in a safe place and contact y
our Lexus
dealer.
* Parking brake engaged warning buzzer:
A buzzer will sound if the vehicle is driv en at a speed of approximately 3 mph (5
km/h) or more.
Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights turn on or
flash. If a light turns on or flashes, but then turns off, this does not necessarily
indicate a malfunction in the system.

• Low brake fluid
• Malfunction in the brake booster system This light also comes on when the parking brake

If the charging system warning light comes on, stop the vehicle immedi-
ately.

■If the electronic engine control system warning light remains on while driving
First check the following:
• Check fuel level, if the fuel tank is empty, refuel immediately.
• Check the fuel tank cap is loose tighten it securely.
The light will go off after driving regularly for some time.
If the light does not go off even after several trips, contact your Lexus dealer as soon
a
s possible.
■Front passenger detection sensor an d passenger’s seat belt reminder
●If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger detection
sensor may cause the warning light to flash and a chime to sound, even if a pas -
senger is not sitting in the seat.
●If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passenger, and the
warning light may not operate properly.
CAUTION
■If both the ABS and brake system warning lights remain on
Stop your vehicle in a safe place immediately and contact your Lexus dealer. The
v

ehicle will become extremely unstable during braking, and the ABS system may
fail, which could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury.
