To prevent paint deterioration and corrosio n on the body and components (aluminum
wheels etc.) ●
Wash the vehicle immediately in the following cases:
• After driving near the sea coast
• After driving on salted roads
• If coal tar or tree sap is present on the paint surface
• If dead insects, insect droppings or bird droppings are present on the paint surface
• After driving in an area contaminated wi th soot, oily smoke, mine dust, iron pow-
der or chemical substances
• If the vehicle becomes heavily soiled with dust or mud
• If liquids such as benzene and gaso line are spilled on the paint surface●
If the paint is chipped or scratche d, have it repaired immediately.●
To prevent the wheels from corroding, remo ve any dirt and store in a place with low
humidity when storing the wheels. ■
Cleaning the exterior lights ●
Wash carefully. Do not use organic substances or scrub with a hard brush.
This may damage the su rfaces of the lights.●
Do not apply wax to the surfaces of the lights.
Wax may cause damage to the lenses. ■
To prevent damage to the windshield wiper arms
When lifting the wiper arms away from the windshield, pull the dr iver side wiper arm
upward first, and repeat for the passenger side. When returning the wipers to their
original position, do so from the passenger side first. ■
When using an automatic car wash (vehicle s with rain-sensing windshield wipers)
Set the wiper switch to the off position.
If the wiper switch is in “AUTO”, the wipers may operate and the wiper blades may be
damaged. ■
When using a high pressure car wash ●
When washing the vehicle, do not let water of the high pressure washer hit directly or
the vicinity of the camera. Due to the shock fr om the high pressure water, it is possible
the device may not operate as normal. ●
Do not bring the nozzle tip close to followi ng parts and boots (Rubber or resin manu-
factured cover), or connectors. Parts may be damages if they come into contact with
high pressure water.

Accelerator pedal • The accelerator pedal should move smoothly (with-
out uneven pedal effort or catching).
Brake pedal • Does the brake pedal move smoothly?
• Does the brake pedal have appropriate clearance
from the floor? (  P. 6 1 4 )
• Does the brake pedal have the correct amount of
free play? (  P. 6 1 4 )
Brakes • The vehicle should not pull to one side when the
brakes are applied.
• The brakes should work effectively.
• The brake pedal should not feel spongy.
• The brake pedal should not get too close to the floor
when the brakes are applied.
Head restraints • Do the head restraints move smoothly and lock
securely?
Hybrid transmission “Park”
mechanism • When parked on a slope and the shift lever is in P, is
the vehicle securely stopped?
Indicators/buzzers • Do the indicators and buzzers function properly?
Lights • Do all the lights come on?
Parking brake • Does the parking brake switch operate normally?
• When parked on a slope and the parking brake is on,
is the vehicle securely stopped?
Seat belts •Do the seat belt s operate smoothly?
• The seat belts should not be damaged.
Seats • Do the seat controls operate properly?
Steering wheel • Does the steering wheel rotate smoothly?
• Does the steering wheel have the correct amount of
free play?
• There should not be an y strange sounds coming
from the steering wheel.

Normal fuse
Blown fuse Replace the blown fuse with a new fuse of an appropriate amperage rating. The
amperage rating can be found on the fuse box lid.

After a fuse is replaced ●
If the lights do not turn on even after the fuse has been replaced, a bulb may need
replacement. (  P. 5 3 8 )●
If the replaced fuse blows again, have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer. ■
If there is an overload in a circuit
The fuses are designed to blow, protec ting the wiring harness from damage.■
When replacing light bulbs
Lexus recommends that you use genuine Lexu s products designed for this vehicle.
Because certain bulbs are connected to circui ts designed to prevent overload, nongenu-
ine parts or parts not designed for this vehicle may be unusable. 4

Front side marker light (bulb type)
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.■
Front turn signal lights (bulb type)
Open the hood and remove the cover for engine compartment cover.

Remove the cover.
Push the center of the clip.
Remove the clip and cover.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-

Align the 2 tabs positions and
close the cover.
Fix the cover by pushing the
center of the clip.
Install the engine compartment cover. (  P. 5 0 3 )■
Rear turn signal lights
Open the back door and attach
protective tape around the lamp
body. (Use masking tape, do not
use Duct tape, as duct tape may
leave markings.)
Remove the cover. It is recommended for safeguarding
to wrap the tip of the screwdriver
with a cloth, etc., in order to prevent
scratches to the vehicle.
Remove the 2 bolts. 8

Install the cover.

Back-up lights
Open the back door and remove
the cover. Press down on the notch on the
cover and remove the cover.
It is recommended for safeguarding
to wrap the tip of the screwdriver
with a cloth, etc., in order to prevent
scratches to the vehicle.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-

Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by your Lexus
dealer. ●
Headlight low beams ●
Headlight high beams (LED type) ●
Front turn signal lights (LED type) ●
Parking lights and Daytime running lights ●
Front fog lights ●
Front side marker lights (LED type) ●
Side turn signal lights ●
Stop/tail lights ●
Rear side marker lights ●
High mounted stoplight ●
License plate lights ●
Outer foot lights ■
After replacing the bulbs

LED lights
The headlight low beams, headlight high beams (LED Type), front turn signal lights (LED
Type), parking lights, daytime running lights, front fog lights, front side marker lights (LED
Type), side turn signal lights, rear side ma rker lights, stop/tail lights, rear side marker
lights, high mounted stoplight and license plate lights, outer foot lights consist of a num-
ber of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take your vehicle to your Lexus dealer to have
the light replaced. ■
Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not indicate a
malfunction. Contact your Lexus dealer for mo re information in the following situations:●
Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.●
Wa t e r h a s b u i l t u p i n side the headlight.■
When replacing light bulbs

Replacing light bulbs ●
Be sure to stop the hybrid system and turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the
bulb immediately after turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns. ●
Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is unavoid-
able to hold the glass portion, use and ho ld with a clean dry cloth to avoid getting
moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.●
Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so may result
in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headlight unit. This may damage the head-
lights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.●
Do not attempt to repair or disassemble light bulbs, connectors, electric circuits or
component parts.
Doing so may result in death or se rious injury due to electric shock.■
To prevent damage or fire ●
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked. ●
Check the wattage of the bulb before installin g to prevent heat damage.

NX300h_U_OM78007UEmergency flashers Press the switch. All the turn signal lights will flash. To turn
them off, press the switch once again.

Emergency flashers
If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hybrid system is not operat-
ing (while the “READY” indicator is not illu minated), the 12-volt battery may discharge.The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the vehicle has
to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

When trouble arises 8-2. Steps to take in an emergency
NX300h_U_OM78007UIf a warning light turns on or a warning buzzer
sounds Calmly perform the following actions if any of the warning lights comes on or
flashes. If a light comes on or flashes, bu t then goes off, this does not necessar-
ily indicate a malfunction in the system. However, if this continues to occur,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.

Brake system warning light
Indicates that:
• The brake fluid level is low; or
• The brake system is malfunctioning
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your

Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s charging system
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.

Low engine oil pressure warning light (warning buzzer)
Indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your
Lexus dealer. Continuing to drive the vehicle may be dangerous.

Indicates that the engine is overheating
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place. Continuing to drive
the vehicle may be dangerous.

Brake system warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The regenerative braking system;
• The electronically controlled brake system; or
• The electric parking brake
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately. (U.S.A.)

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The hybrid system;
• The electronic engine control system;
• The electronic throttle control system; or
• The emission control system
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
