Changing bulbs Be
fore changing a bulb
! Only fit 12V bulbs of the same type as
before and of the correct wattage.
! Switch off the lights before changing a
bulbto avoid a short-cir cuit. !
Only hold bulbs with a clean, lint-free
cloth.
! Do not work with wet or greasy fingers.
! If the new bulb sti lldoes not light up,
visit a qualified specialist workshop,
e.g. a Merce des-Benz Service Centre.
! Have theLEDs and bulbs spec ifiedbe-
low replaced at a qualified specialist
workshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Serv-
ice Centre. These are the:
! additional turn sign als in the exteri-
or mirrors
! third brake lamp
! front fog lamp bulbs
! xenon bulbs*
i Have the headlamp setting checked
regularly. G
Risk of inju ry Bulbs and lamps can be
come very hot. You
should therefore allow them to cool down
before you cha nge them.
Kee p bulbs out ofthe reach of children.
Never use abulb which has been dropped.
Such a bulb may explode and injure you.
H7 bulbs are pressurised and may explode
when they ar echanged. You should there-
fore wear eye protection and gloves when
you are changin gthem. G
Risk of injury Xe
non bulbs carry ahigh voltage. Do not re-
move the cover of the xenon bulb. Do not
change the xenon bulbs yourself. You should
hav e them chan gedat a qualified speci alist
workshop whic hhas th e necessary special-
ist knowledge and tools to carry out the
work requ ired. Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you use a Mercedes-Benz Service Cen-
tre for this purpose. In parti cular, work rele-
va nt to safety or onsafety-relate dsystems
must be carried out at a quali fied specialist

Switch off the lights.
6 Open the bonnet ( =pa ge 244).
6 Turn bulb holder 3anti-clockwise
along with the bulb and remove the
holder.
6 Press the bulb in, turn it ant i-clockwise
and remove it from the holder. Ch

Risk of injury Vehicles with bi-xenon bulbs*:
Do not remove housing cover
1for the xe-
non bulb. Xenonbulbscarry ahigh vo lta ge.
Do not cha nge the xenon bulbs yourself. You
should have them changed at a qualified
specialist workshop which has the neces-
sary specialist knowledge and tools to carry
out the work required. Mercede s-Benz rec-
omm ends that you use a Merc edes-Benz
Service Centre for this purpose. In particu-
la r, work relevant to safety or on safety-
related systems must be carried out at a

Press the new bulb into the hol der and
screw it in clo ckwise.
6 Place the bulb holder in the lamp and
turn itclockwise.
Ch anging the dipped-beam or main- beam hea
dlamps
6 Switch off the lights.
6 Open the bonnet ( =pa ge 244).
6 Turn appropr iate ho using cover 1or
2 anti- cloc kw ise and remove it.
6 Turn bulb holder 4or5 anti-clock-
wi se along with the bul band remove
the hol der.
6 Pull the bulb out of the bulb holder by
the base plate (not the glass bulb). 6
Insert the new bulb so that the base
plate:
!fits in the recess on the bulb holder
and
! lies level on the bulb holder
6 Place the bulb hol der in the lamp and
turn it clockwise.
6 Refit the appropriate housing cover
and turn it clockwise. Cha
nging the sid eand parking lamps
6 Switch off the lights.
6 Open the bonnet (= page 244).
6 Turn housing cover 2anti-clockwise
and rem ove it.
6 Remove bulb holder 6along with the
bulb. 6
Turn the bulb gently anti-clockwise and
remove it from the holder.
6 Insert the new bulb into the holder and
turn it clockwise.
6 Replac ethe housing cover and let the
tabs lock into place.
6 Refit the appropriate housing cover
and turn it clockwise.

Left bul bholder, mirror image of right
1 Brake lam ps
2 Turn signals

Switch off the lig hts.
6 Open the boot lid ( =page 84).
6 Roll the trim located in the area of the
appropriate tail lamp cluster to the
side.
6 Squeeze the reta ining clips and remove
the bul bholder along with the bulb.
6 Turn the bulb anti-clockwise and
remove it from the hol der.
6 Insert the new bulb into the holder and
turn it clockwise.
6 Replace the bulb holder. Make sure
that you hear the bul bhol der engage in
the retaining clips.
6 Roll the tri mback again. 1
Screws
6 Switch off the lights.
6 Undo the two screws and remove the
lamp unit.
6 Change the bulb and refit the la mpunit.
6 Screw the two screws back in. Ch

Replacing the wiper bladesRemoving

Replace the wiper blades twice a year,
preferably inspring and autumn.
For your conveni ence, have this work carried
out at aquali fied specialist wor kshop, e.g. a
Me rcede s-Be nz Service Cen tre.
6 Foldthe wiper arm away from the wind-
screen.
When doing so, only hold the wiper
arm. You must feel it engage in posi-
tion. 1
To lock
2 To open
6 Pullthe retaining clip in the direction of
arrow 2and remove the windscreen
wiper. Fitting

Slide the wiper blade into the recess on
the wiper arm.
6 Slide the retaining clip back in the di-
rection of arrow 1until itengages.
6 Fold the wiper arm onto the wind-
screen again.
When doing so, only hold the wiper
arm.
! Never open the bonnet when the wiper arm
is folded away from the windscreen.
Do not fol dthe wiper ar monto the windscreen if
a wiper blade is not fitted.
For your convenience, have this work carried
out at a qualified spe cialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Replacing the wiper blades

6 Stop your vehicleas fa r away aspossi-
ble from traffic and on a surface which
is firm, even and not slippery.
6 Switch on the hazard warning lamps.
6 Apply the handbrake. Vehicl

6 Select either first or reverse gear. Vehicl
eswith automatic transmission*
6 Move the selecto rle ver to P. For all veh
icles
6 Any passengers should leave the vehi-
cle, ensuring that they are not endan-
gered asthey do so.
6 Place the warning tri angle or switch on
hazard warning lam psat a suitable dis-

for a short while when a wheel is changed.
If you intend to work under the vehicle,
place the vehicle on stands.
Prepare the vehic leas described.
Make sure that th estanding surface for the
vehicle and jack is firm and not slippery. Do
not use blocks ofwo od orsimilar asjack ing
supports, as the jack will not be able to
achieve its load-be aring capacity due to the
restricte dheight.
Do not start the engine at any time while the
wheel is being changed.
Do not crawl under the ve hicle while itis
supported by the jack. If you do not raise the
vehicle in the way described, it could slip off
the jack (e.g. when the engineis star ted or

can use theT IREFIT kit to sea lsma ll
punctures, particularly those in the tyre's
tread. TIREFIT may be used at outside tem-
pe ratures of down to –20 °C. 6
Do not remove any forei gnbodies
whi chhave penetrated the tyre, e.g.
screws or nai ls.
6 Remove the TIREFIT kit, the accom pa-
nying "max. 80 km /h" sticker and the
electric air pump from the boot
( = pa ge 276).
6 Affix the sti cker in the driver's field of
vision. Using th
eTIREFIT kit G
Risk of fire Smok
ing, fire and nak edflame sare prohibit-
ed when using TIREFIT.
Avoid creating sparks. G
Riskofaccident Your safety is at particular risk and TIREFIT
is unable to repa
ira fl at tyre in the following
situations:
! If there are cuts or punctures in the tyre
gre ater than 4mm in size
! If the wheel is damaged
! If you have driven at very low tyre pres-
sures or with flat tyres

! If TIREFIT comes into contact with your

oughl ywith clean water.
! Change out of clothing which has been
in contact with TIREFIT immediately.
! If an all ergic reaction occurs, con sult a

Ke ep TIREFIT out of the reach of children.
! If TIREFIT is swallo wed, rinse themouth
thoroughly immediately and drink a
large amount of water.

the flattyre's valve.
6 Make sure that the pressure release
screw on pressure gauge 9is closed.

or ! a 12V socket* in your veh icle

6 Turn the key to position 1in the igni-
tion lock (= page 23).
6 Press electric air pump switch 8toI.
The electri cair pump is switched on.
The tyre is pumped up. After five min-
utes, a tyre pressure of at least 1.8 bar
must be ob tained.
! Do no trun the electric air pump for longer
tha nsix min uteswitho utabr eak ,otherwise it
may overheat.
The air pump can be used again once it has
cooled down. If this tyre pressure is not obtained:

Switch off and disconnect the elec-
tric air pump, and drive the vehicle
back and forth approxima tely 10 m.
This distributes th eTIREFIT sealant
more evenly.
6 Remove the sea lant bottle from the
electric pump.
6 Pump up the tyre again. P4

Risk of accident If a pressure of 1.8 bar is not obtained with-
in fiv eminutes, the tyre is too badly dam-
aged.

6 If you have obtained a pressure of
1.8 bar, press the switch on the elec-
tric air pum pto 0.
The electric air pump isswitched off.
6 Discon nect the electric air pump.
6 Pull away immediately.
This allows the TIRE FIT sealant to dis-
tribute throughout the tyre.
6 Stop after about ten minutes and
chec kthe tyre pressure with the elec-
tric air pum p.
6If the tyre press ure is at least 1.3 bar,
correct it (see fuel filler flap for values).
To increase the tyre pressure:
6 switch on the electric air pump
To decrease the tyre pressure: 6 open the pr essure release screw on
pressure gauge 9 6
Drive to the nearest workshop and
have the tyre rep lace d.
6 Have the TIREFIT kit replaced as soon
as possible at a qua lified speci alist
wo rkshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Serv-
ice Centre.
6 Have the TIRE FIT kit replaced every
four years at a quali fied specialist
wo rkshop, e.g. a Mercedes-Benz Serv-
ice Centre. G
Risk of accident If the pressure has fa
llen below1.3 bar, the
tyre is too badly damaged.
