Opening and closing
You will find detailed information about the
functions of the
vehicle in the "Controls in
detail" section. You will find this section
most useful if you are already familiar with
the basic functions of the vehicle.
If you ar enot yet familiar with these basic
functions, the "Getting started" section will
provide you with more information. You
will fin dthe reference to the appropriate
pages of that section atthe star tof each
segment. The vehicle's equipment includes two
remote control keys.
There is an emergency key ele
ment in each
key. The release catches for the emer-
gency key element have different colours
to help distinguish between the two keys.
The key allows you to lock and unlock the
vehicle from some distance away. To pre-
vent theft, only use the key inthe immedi-
ate vicinity of the vehicle.
The key's factory setting enables you to
centrally lock and unlock the following:
! The doors
! The boot
! The fuel filler flap
! The glove compartment i
Ifyou open a door, the windows on this side
lower sli ghtly. If you close the door, the windows
close again.
! The side windows will not ope nor close if
the yare iced up or if the battery is flat. You will
the nno longer be able to close the door. Do not
attempt to force the door clo sed. You could oth-
erwise damage the door or the window. Opening and closing

Risk of accident Never leave
children unsupervised in the
vehicle. They could open a door from the
inside, even if it is locked, or start the eng ine
using a key left in the vehicle and thereby
en danger themselves and others. For this
rea son, take the key with you, even if you

knobs in the doors pop up. The anti-
theft alarm system* is deactivated.
If you do not open either a door or the boot
after you have unlocked your vehicle, the
vehicle relocks itself after approximately
40 seconds.
Locking the vehicle centrally
6 Press the ‹button.
The turn signals flash three times when
both of the doors and the boo tlid are
closed. The locking knobs in the doors
drop down. Th eanti-theft alarm sys-
tem* is primed. Individual settings
If you fr
equently travel alone, you may wish
to change how the key functions. Pressing
the Œ button then only unlocks the
driver's door and the fuel filler flap.

KEYLESS GO keys form part of your
ve hicle's optional equipment.
When you grasp the door handle, your vehi-
cle checks the key's validity. The following
are centrally unlocked if the KEYLESS GO
key isvalid and configured to the factory
setting ( =page 80):

! The boot
! The fuel filler flap
! The glove compartment KEYLESS GO key*

period, it may be ne cessary topull on the door
handle to activate the KEYLESS GO function.

! Always carry the KEYLESS GO key on
your person.
! Never store the KEYLESS GO key

! electronic equipment, e.g. a mobile
phone
! met allic objects such as coins or

This could otherw ise impair the key's
effectiven ess.
! To lock or unlock the vehicle using the
KEYLES SGO key, the key must be out-
side the vehicle and no more than a
metre away fro mthe door or boot.
! To start the engine with the KEYLESS
GO button on the selector lever:
!the KE YLES SGO ke ymu stbe inthe
vehicle and
! both of the doors must be closed !
If you have st arted the engine using the
KEYLESS GO button on the selector
lever, you can stop the engine using:
! the KEYLESS GO button
! the key if it isin the ignition lock
and the selector lever is at P(vehi-
cles with automatic transmission*)
The key in the ignition lock then
has priority over the KEYLESS GO
function and the vehicle electrical
system will be controlled in accord-
ance with the position of the key in
the ignition lock.
! If the KEYLESS GO key is removed from
the vehicle (e.g. in lu ggage or an art icle
of clothing), it is no lon ger possible to

the vehicle whi lethe ignition is on
and a door is open, e.g. ifthe front pas-
senger leaves the vehicle with the
KEYLESS GO key, you will see the fol-
lowing message in the multi-function
display when pulling away:Key not

if the KEYLESS GO key is in the veh icle.
If you have forgotten the KEYLESS GO
key, you will see the following message
in the mul ti-function display when you
lock the vehicle:

You can limit the opening angle of the boot
lid on
vehicles with the remote boot clos-
ing feature*. The boot lid will then only
open as far as the height of the roof. This
can be use fulif there is insufficient clear-
ance above the boot lid, for example.
6 Make sure that the boot lid is closed.
6 Press and hold the boot button on the
driver's door for at least five seconds.
The opening limiter is switched on or

the same time from the driver's seat.
The boot lid button is on the lower section
of the driver's door.
