If the cargo compartment Ooor is loaded in the
upper position and the mounting support has
been removed, the cargo compartment Ooor
may be damaged.
Make sure that the cargo compartment
Ooor is not loaded in the upper position
when the mounting support is removed.
The cargo compartment can be made larger or
smaller depending on requirements. To this end,
you can lock the cargo compartment Ooor at two
diMerent heights. The higher position provides a
Oat surface when the rear seat backrests are fol-
ded forward. Furthermore, you can remove a
mounting support at the rear to create additional
space lengthways.Lis cargo compartment Ooor 1 (in the bot-
tom position in the example) only slightly using
handle 3 and pull it towards you.Insert cargo compartment Ooor 1 into rear

Attaching a roof luggage rack&WARNING Risk of accident due to exceed-
ing the maximum roof load
The vehicle center of gravity and the usual
driving characteristics as well as the steering
and braking characteristics alter.
If you exceed the maximum roof load, the driv-
ing characteristics, as well as steering and braking, will be greatly impaired.
Never exceed the maximum roof load
and adjust your driving style.You will Nnd information on the maximum roof
load in the "Technical data" section.*NOTE Damage to the vehicle due to not
observing the maximum permitted head-
room clearance
If the vehicle height is greater than the maxi- mum permitted headroom clearance, the roof
and other parts of the vehicle may be dam-
aged.
Observe the signposted headroom clear- ance.If the vehicle height is greater than the permitted headroom clearance, do not
enter.Observe the changed vehicle height with add-on roof equipment.*NOTE Damage to the panorama roof with
power tilt/sliding panel due to non-
approved roof luggage racks
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel may be damaged by the roof luggage rack if you attempt to open it when using a
roof luggage rack not tested and approved for
Mercedes-Benz.
When a roof luggage rack is installed,
open the panorama roof with power tilt/
sliding panel only if this has been tested
and approved for Mercedes-Benz.
The panorama roof with power tilt/sliding
panel may be raised to allow ventilation of the
vehicle interior.
Notes on driving with a roof load
= Evenly distribute the roof load, and place
heavy objects at the bottom. Also comply with
the notes on loading the vehicle
(  page 108).
= Drive attentively, and avoid suddenly pulling
away, braking and steering as well as rapid cornering.
= When transporting roof loads and when the
vehicle is fully loaded or fully occupied, select
drive programs  and A . These are
designed to focus on stability (  page 155).Secure the roof luggage rack to the roof rail-
ing.Observe the manufacturer\bs installation
instructions.
Sockets
Using the 12 V socket
Requirements
= Only devices up to a maximum of 180 W
(15 A) are permissible.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, the vehicle
has the following 12 V sockets:
= In the stowage compartment in the front cen-
ter console
= In the cargo compartment
Example: 12 V socket in the stowage compartment
in the front center console
Fold up socket cap 1.Insert the plug of the device.
12 V socket in the stowage compartment with
cover: if you have connected a device to the 12 V
socket, leave the cover of the stowage compart-
ment open.
Using the 115 V socket in the rear passenger
compartment&DANGER Risk of fatal injuries due to a
damaged connecting cable or a damaged
socket
You could receive an electric shock if the con-
necting cable or the 115 V power socket is pulled out of the trim or is damaged or wet.
Use only connecting cables that are dry
and free of damage.When the vehicle is switched oM, make
sure that the 115 V power socket is dry.Immediately have the 115 V power
socket checked or replaced at a qualiNed
specialized workshop if it is damaged or
has been pulled out of the trim.Never plug the connecting cable into a
115 V power socket that is damaged or
has been pulled out of the trim.&DANGER Risk of death due to using the
socket incorrectly
In particular, you could receive an electric shock:
= If you touch the inside of the socket
= If you insert unsuitable devices or objects
into the socket
Do not touch the inside of the socket.Only connect suitable devices to the
socket.Make sure that no liquids get into the 115 V socket.
When the 115 V socket is not in use, keep the socket Oap closed.
Requirements
= The device is equipped with a suitable plug
which conforms to the standards speciNc to
the country you are in.
= A device up to a maximum of 150 W (1.3 A) is
used.
= Do not use multiple socket outlets.

When the on-board electrical system voltage is
suPcient, indicator lamp 2 lights up.USB port in the rear passenger compartment\bDepending on the vehicle equipment, the
design of the stowage compartment and the number of USB ports in the rear passenger
compartment center console may vary.
When the vehicle is switched on, you can charge a
USB device, such as a mobile phone, at the USB port using a suitable charging cable.

Notes on wirelessly charging a mobile phone
&WARNING Risk of injury due to objects
being stowed incorrectly
If objects in the vehicle interior are stowed
incorrectly, they can slide or be thrown around
and hit vehicle occupants. In addition, cup
holders, open stowage spaces and mobile
phone receptacles cannot always retain all
objects within.
There is a risk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.Always stow objects so that they cannot
be thrown around in such situations.Always make sure that objects do not
protrude from stowage spaces, parcel
nets or stowage nets.Close the lockable stowage spaces before starting a journey.Always stow and secure heavy, hard,
pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky
objects in the trunk/cargo compart-
ment.Observe the notes on loading the vehicle.&WARNING Risk of Nre from placing objects
in the mobile phone storage compartment
Placing other objects in the mobile phone storage compartment could constitute a Nre
hazard.

Apart from a mobile phone, do not place
any other objects in the mobile phone
storage compartment, especially those
made of metal.*NOTE Damage to objects caused by plac-
ing them in the mobile phone storage
compartment
If objects are placed in the mobile phone stor-
age compartment, these may be damaged by
electromagnetic Nelds.
Do not place credit cards, storage
media, ski passes or other objects sensi-
tive to electromagnetic Nelds in the
mobile phone storage compartment.*NOTE Damage to the mobile phone stow-
age compartment caused by liquids
If liquids enter the mobile phone stowage
compartment, the compartment may be dam-
aged.
Ensure that no liquids enter the mobile phone stowage compartment.The following notes on wirelessly charging the
mobile phone must be observed:
= Depending on the vehicle equipment, the
mobile phone is connected to the vehicle\bs
exterior antenna via the charging module.
= The charging function and wireless connection
of the mobile phone to the vehicle\bs exterior
antenna are available only if the vehicle is switched on.
= Small mobile phones may not be able to be
charged in every position of the mobile phone
stowage compartment.
= Large mobile phones that do not rest Oat in
the mobile phone stowage compartment may not be able to be charged or connected withthe vehicle\bs exterior antenna.
= The mobile phone may heat up during the
charging process. This may particularly
depend on the applications (apps) currently
open in the background.
= To ensure more ePcient charging and connec-
tion with the vehicle\bs exterior antenna,
remove the protective cover from the mobilephone. Protective covers which are necessary
for wireless charging are an exception.
Charging a mobile phone wirelessly
Requirements
= The mobile phone is suitable for wireless
charging.
A list of compatible mobile phones can be
found at: https://www.mercedes-benz-
mobile.com.

Place the mobile phone as close to the centerof the marked surface on mat 1 as possible
with the display facing upwards.
When a message is shown in the multimedia
system, the mobile phone is being charged.
Malfunctions during the charging process are
shown on the central display.\bThe mat can be removed for cleaning, e.g.
using clean, lukewarm water.
Stowage compartment without cover
Make sure the mobile phone is properly stored
and secured to prevent it from falling out while
you are driving.
To secure the mobile phone: swing lever 2
out.
Installing/removing the Ooor mats
&WARNING Risk of accident due to objects
in the driver\bs footwell
Objects in the driver\bs footwell may impede
pedal travel or block a depressed pedal.
This jeopardizes the operating and road safety
of the vehicle.
Stow all objects in the vehicle securely so that they cannot get into the driver\bs
footwell.Always install the Ooor mats securely
and as prescribed in order to ensure that
there is always suPcient room for the
pedals.Do not use loose Ooor mats and do not
place Ooor mats on top of one another.Installing Ooor matsSlide the corresponding seat backwards and
lay the Ooor mat in the footwell.Press studs 1 onto holders 2.Adjust the corresponding seat.

Exterior lighting
Information about lighting systems and yourresponsibility
The various lighting systems of the vehicle are
only aids. The driver of the vehicle is responsible
for correct vehicle illumination in accordance with the prevailing light and visibility conditions, legal
requirements and traPc situation.
Light switch

qOperating the light switch

When low beam is activated, the ` indicator
lamp for the side lamps will be deactivated and replaced by the X low-beam indicator lamp.
Always park your vehicle safely using suPcient
lighting, in accordance with the relevant legal stipulations.*NOTE Battery discharging by operating the
parking lamps
Do not have the parking lamps switched on
over a period of several hours.
If the battery is insuPciently charged, the side
lamps or parking lights will be switched oM auto-
matically to facilitate the next engine start.
The exterior lighting (except side lamps and park-
ing lights) will switch oM automatically when the
driver\bs door is opened.
= Observe the notes on surround lighting
(  page 130).

qAutomatic driving lights function
When the vehicle is switched on, the parking
lamps, low beam and daytime running lights will be switched on automatically depending on the
ambient light.&WARNING Risk of accident when the low
beam is switched oM in poor visibility
When the light switch is set to X, the low
beam may not be switched on automatically if
there is fog, snow or other causes of poor visi-
bility such as spray.
In such cases, turn the light switch to
X .The automatic driving lights are only an aid. You
are responsible for the vehicle lighting.

q Switching the rear fog light on/oM
Requirements: = The light switch is in the X or X posi-
tion.
Press button ^ .Please observe the country-speciNc laws on the
use of rear fog lamps.
Operating the combination switch for the lights

Switching on high beam
Turn the light switch to the X or X

When high beam is activated, the indicator

of arrow 1 or pull it in the direction of arrow

Headlamp Oashing
Pull the combination switch in the direction of

Turn signalsTo indicate brieOy: push the combination
switch brieOy to the point of resistance in the
direction of arrow 2 or 4.
The corresponding turn signal light will Oash
three times.To indicate permanently: push the combina-
tion switch beyond the point of resistance in
the direction of arrow 2 or 4.
Vehicles with Active Lane Change Assist:
= A turn signal indicator activated by the
driver may continue to operate for the
duration of the lane change.
= If the driver indicated directly beforehand
but a lane change was not immediately
possible, the turn signal indicator may acti-
vate automatically.Activating/deactivating the hazard warning lightsPress button 1.
The hazard warning lights will switch on automati-
cally if:
= the air bag has been deployed.
Cornering light

qCornering light function
The cornering light improves the illumination of
the road over a wide angle in the turning direc-
tion, enabling better visibility on tight bends, for
example. The cornering light will be activated only when low beam is switched on.
The function will be active in the following cases:
= At speeds below 25 mph (40 km/h) when the
turn signal light is switched on or the steeringwheel is turned
