Unlocking and opening doors from
the inside
! The side windows will not open/close if the
battery is discharged or if the side windows
have iced up. It will then not be possible to
close the door. Do not attempt to forc et he
door closed. You could otherwise damage the
door or the side window.
You can open ad oor from inside the vehicle
even if it has been locked.
If the vehicle has previously been locked from
the outside, openin gad oor from the inside will
trigger the anti-theft alarm system .S witc ho ff
the alarm ( Y
page 61).

Pull door handle D .
If the door is locked, locking knob C pops up.
The door is unlocked and can be opened.
When ad oor is opened, the side window on that
side opens slightly. When the door is closed, the
side window closes again.
Centrally locking and unlocking the
vehicle from the inside You can centrally lock or unlock the vehicle from
the inside. For example, you can unlock the
front-passenge rd oor from the inside or lock the
vehicle before you pull away. X
To unlock: press button C .X
To lock: press button D .
If the front-passenge rd oor is closed, the vehi-
cle locks.
The central locking button does not lock or
unlock the fuel filler flap or the stowage com-
partment in the center console.
You cannot unlock the vehicle centrally from the
inside if the vehicle has been locked with the
SmartKey or KEYLESS-GO.
You can open ad oor from inside the vehicle
even if it has been locked.
If al ocked door is opened from the inside, the
previous unlock status of the vehicle will be
taken int oc onsideratio ni f:R
the vehicle was locked using the locking but-
ton for the central locking, or R
if the vehicle was locked automatically
The vehicle will be fully unlocked if it had previ-
ously been fully unlocked. If only the driver's
door had been previously unlocked, only the
door which has been opened from the inside is
unlocked.

using the mechanical key

anism whil et he driver's door is open. Then
lock the driver's door using the mechanical
key.

To unlock: turn the mechanical key counter-
clockwise as far as it will go to position G .X
To lock: turn the mechanical key clockwise as
far as it will go to position G .

open the driver's door, the anti-thef ta la rm sys-
tem will be triggered .S witch off the alarm

! The trun kl id swings upwards when opened.
Therefore, make sure that there is sufficient
clearanc ea bove the trun kl id.
If the trun kc annot be unlocked with the Smart-
Key or KEYLESS-GO, use the mechanical key.
If you use the mechanical key to unlock and
open the trun kl id, the anti-thef ta larm system
will be triggered. Switc ho ff the alarm

When leaving the vehicle, always take the
SmartKe yw it hy ou and lock the vehicle. Never
leav ec hildren unsupervised in the vehicle.
Side windo wr eversin gf ea tureThe front side windows ar ee quippe dw it ha n
automatic reversing feature. If as olid object
blocks or restricts the upward movement of one
of the front side windows durin gt he closing
process, the side windo wo pe ns agai na ut omat-
ically. During the manua lc losing process, the
side windo wo nl yo pe ns agai na ut omatically
after the corresponding switch is released. How-
ever, the automatic reversing featur eiso nl ya n
ai da nd does not relieve yo uoft he responsibility
of paying attentio nw he nc losing as id ew in dow.

Make sure that no body parts are in close
proximity during the closing procedure. If
someone becomes trapped, press the switch
to open the side window again.
Opening and closing the side win-
dows in the front The switches for the front side windows are
located on the driver's door. There is also a
switch for the front-passenger side window on
the front-passenger door.
The switches on the driver's door take prece-
dence.

Using the switch on the center console

While opening the side windows, body parts in
the closing area could become trapped. There

Make sure that no body parts are in close
proximity during the closing procedure. If
somebody becomes trapped, release the
switch or press the switch down to open the
side window again.
You can use the switch on the center console to
close all side windows simultaneously. X
Open the cover in the lower center console.
The switch for all side windows is under the
cover.

To open all side windows: press button C
to the point of resistance. X
To open all side windows fully: press
switch C beyond the point of resistance. X
To close all side windows: pull switch C .
All side windows begin the closing procedure

after the front side windows.
If, after opening the windows, you close one side

dows simultaneously. The KEYLESS-GO key

be closed.

Problems with the side windows
G WARNING
If you close as ide window again immediately after it has been blocked or reset, the side window
closes with increased or maximum force. The reversing feature is then not active. Parts of the
body could be trapped in the closing area in the process. This poses an increased risk of injury or
even fatal injury.
Make sure that no parts of the body are in the closing area. To stop the closing process, release
the switch or push the switch again to reopen the side window.

Roof
Important safety notes
G WARNING
If you do not fully open/close the soft top, the
soft-top hydraulics depressurize after as hort
time. This causes the soft top to lower unex-
pectedly and may cause you or others to be
trapped. There is ar isk of injury.
Always open or close the soft top completely.
G WARNING
Closing the roof manually is ac omplicated
and technically demanding procedure, which
requires al ot of strength. You or others can
become trapped. There is ar isk of injury.
Only have the soft top closed manually at a
qualified specialist workshop. ! Never sit on the rear shelf or store heavy
object st here. You will otherwise damage the
roof and the rear shelf of your vehicle.
! Do not forget that the weather can change
abruptly. Make certain that the roof is closed
when you leave the vehicle. The vehicle elec-
tronics can be damaged if water enters the
vehicle interior.
! When opening and closing the roof, make
sure that: R
there is sufficient clearance, as the roof
swings upwards. R
there is sufficient clearance behind the
vehicle, as the trunk lid swings backwards
beyond the bumper. R
the trunk is only loaded to below the trunk
partition. R
the trunk partition is not pushed up by the
load. R

Opening/closing using the SmartKey

When raising or lowering the roof, make sure
that no body parts are in the vicinity of moving

as possible, paying attention to road and traf-

Wind screen
Important safet yn otes
G WARNING
If you use the wind screen in darkness or in
other conditions offerin gp oor visibility, your
view to the rear is further impaired. There is a
risk of an accident.
Only use the wind screen when visibility con-
ditions are good.
G WARNING
If the wind screen is incorrectly installed, it
could detach itself during aj ourney and
endanger other road users. There is ar isk of
an acciden ta nd injury.
Install the wind screen as described.
! Install or remove the wind screen only when
the roof is open. You could otherwise damage
the wind screen or the vehicle interior. The wind screen offers protection from the wind
when driving with the roof down.
The wind screen can be installed or removed
from the driver's side or passenger side.
For operation si nvolvin gt he wind screen ,iti s
preferable to be positioned on the side of the
vehicle facing away from the traffic, after stop-
ping the vehicle in accordance with the traffic
conditions.
