3Theft-alarm system
N00510200244
The theft-alarm system is designed to provide protection from
unauthorized entry into the vehicle. This system is operated in
three stages: the first is the “armed” stage, the second is the
“alarm” stage, and third is the “disarmed” stage. If triggered,
the system provides both audible and visual alarm signals.
CAUTION
!Do not modify or add parts to the theft-alarm sys-
tem. Doing so could cause the theft-alarm to mal-
function.

NOTEThe system will be disarmed if, while the theft-alarm indi-
cator is illuminated, all doors and the liftgate are unlocked
by using the keyless entry system.
The system will be disarmed if, while the theft-alarm indi-
cator is illuminated, the electric motor switch is turned to
the “ON”.
The system will not be armed if a door or the liftgate is not
completely closed. If this happens, rearm the system as
described above.
The theft-alarm system can be activated when people are
riding inside the vehicle or when the windows are open.
To prevent accidental activation of the alarm, do not set
the system to the system armed mode while people are
riding in the vehicle.
If the answerback function (flashing of the turn signal
lights by locking and unlocking the doors and the liftgate)
is deactivated, the turn signal lights do not flash after the
locking and unlocking operation.
For information on the answerback function, refer to
“Keyless entry system” on pages 3-7.Alarm stageThe alarm will be activated if the following occurs while the
vehicle is parked and the system is armed.
One of the doors and the liftgate is opened without using
the keyless entry system.

After 3 minutes the headlights automatically shut off.
2. The horn will sound intermittently for 3 minutes.NOTEThe alarm will continue to operate for 3 minutes. At the

save battery power. The system will then be rearmed until
the proper disarming step is taken.

Brake pad wear alarm
N00532500162
The disc brakes have an alarm that makes a metallic squeal
when the brake pads have worn down enough to need service.
If you hear this sound, have the brake pads replaced at a certi-
fied i-MiEV dealer.
Brake assist system
N00567300063
The brake assist system is a device assisting drivers who can-
not depress the brake pedal firmly such as in emergency stop
situations and provides greater braking force.
If the brake pedal is depressed suddenly, the brakes will be
applied with more force than usual.
WA R N I N G
!Driving with worn brake pads will make it harder to
stop, and can cause an accident.
CAUTION
!The brake assist system is not a device designed to
exercise braking force greater than its capacity.
Make sure to always keep a sufficient distance
between vehicles in front of you without relying too
much on the brake assist system.

If the outside temperature drops below approximately 37 °F
(3°C), the alarm sounds and the outside air temperature warn-
ing indicator (B) flash for approximately 10 seconds to show
there is a danger the road might be icy.
Change of the outside temperature unit
N00573100011
When the electric motor switch is in the “ACC” or “ON” posi-
tion, pressing the selector button (A) for more than 2 seconds
will switch the outside temperature unit between °F and °C.NOTEDisconnecting the battery cable causes the outside tem-
perature unit memory to be erased. If it has been discon-
nected, readjust the unit with the above procedure.
CAUTION
!Even when the outside air temperature warning
indicator (B) indications do not flash, the road may
be icy, so please take care when driving.
