The emergency trunk lid release mechanism
allows o\fening of the trunk lid in the event that
\feo\fle become locked inside the trunk or in the
event of the loss of electrical \fower such as a
discharged battery\b
Inside the trunk
To o\fen the trunk lid from the inside, \full the
release handle

The handle is located on the back of the trunk lid

From the passenger compartment
The trunk can be o\fened with the emergency
trunk lid o\fener located on the floor in front of
the \fassenger’s seat\b
1\b Remove the board located on the floor in front of the \fassenger’s seat\b
2\b Insert the mechanical key into the emer-gency trunk lid o\fener and turn it clockwise
until it sto\fs\b
NOTE:
Because the trunk rigidity has been in-
creased to handle the high load on the rear
spoiler during vehicle operation, more
force is required to operate the mechanical
key (particularly when the vehicle is new) .
Be sure to turn the key clockwise until it
stops.

Nitrogen for maximum tire performance.
. �fhe �fire and Loading �bnformation label (also
referred to as the vehicle placard or tire
inflation pressure label) is located in the
driver’s door opening.
. You can also check the pressure of all tires
on the multi function display. Refer to the
separate Multi Function Display Owner’s
Manual.
. �fhe tire pressure sensor should be reset
anytime the wheels or tires are removed or
replaced.
. �bf the tire is removed in order to replace the
tire pressure sensor battery, it may not be
possible to reuse the removed tire from the
wheel. �fo replace the tire pressure sensor
battery, contact a G�f-R certified N�bSSAN
dealer.
WARNING
.If the low tire pressure warning light
illuminates while driving, avoid sud-
den steering maneuvers or abrupt
braking, reduce vehicle speed, pull
off the road to a safe location and
stop the vehicle as soon as possi-
ble. Driving with under-inflated tires may permanently damage the tires
and increase the likelihood of tire
failure. Serious vehicle damage
could occur and may lead to an
accident and could result in serious
personal injury. Check the tire pres-
sure for all four tires. Adjust the tire
pressure to the recommended COLD
tire pressure shown on the Tire and
Loading Information label to turn
the low tire pressure warning light
off. If the light still illuminates while
driving after adjusting the tire pres-
sure, a tire may be flat.
. Although you can continue driving
with a punctured run-flat tire, re-
member that vehicle handling sta-
bility is reduced, which could lead to
an accident and personal injury.
Also, driving a long distance at high
speeds may damage the tires.
. Do not drive at speeds above 50
MPH (80 km/h) and do not drive
more than 50 miles (80 km) with a
punctured run-flat tire. The actual
distance the vehicle can be driven
on a flat tire depends on outside
temperature, vehicle load, road con-
ditions and other factors. .
When a wheel is replaced, the TPMS
will not function and the low tire
pressure warning light will flash for
approximately 1 minute. The light
will remain on after 1 minute. Con-
tact your GT-R certified NISSAN
dealer as soon as possible for tire
replacement and/or system reset-
ting.
. Replacing tires with those not ori-
ginally specified by NISSAN could
affect the proper operation of the
TPMS.
. Do not inject any tire liquid or
aerosol tire sealant into the tires,
as this may cause a malfunction of
the tire pressure sensors.
NOTICE
.The TPMS may not function properly
when the wheels are equipped with
tire chains or the wheels are buried
in snow.
. The TPMS may not function properly
if the TPMS sensor is not reset and
when wheels/tires from another

IGNITION SWITCH POSITIONS
LOCK (Normal parking position)
The ignition switch can only be locked in this
position.
The ignition switch will be \fnlocked when it is
p\fshed to the ACC position while carrying the
\bntelligent Key or with the \bntelligent Key inserted
in the port.
ACC (Accessories)
This position activates electrical accessories
s\fch as the radio, when the engine is not
r\fnning.
ON (Normal operating position)
This position t\frns on the ignition system and
electrical accessories.
OFF
The engine can be t\frned off witho\ft locking the
steering wheel.
The ignition lock is designed so that the ignition
switch cannot be switched to the LOCK position
\fntil the shift lever is moved to the
&Pposition.NOTE:
.
If the steering lock release malfunction
indicator appears on the vehicle infor-
mation display when the ignition
switch is pressed, press the ignition
switch again while gently turning the
steering wheel left and right.

. If the shift
&Pwarning appears on the
vehicle information display when the
ignition switch is pushed, the shift lever
is in any position except the
&Pposi-
tion. Move the shift lever to the&P
position. (“Shift “P” warning”
page 2-43)
. If the Intelligent Key battery discharge
indicator appears on the vehicle infor-
mation display, the Intelligent Key
battery is discharged and the ignition
switch will not operate. Insert the
Intelligent Key into the key port to
operate the ignition switch.

. When all of the following conditions
are met for 60 minutes, the battery
saver system will cut off the power
supply to prevent battery discharge. —
The ignition switch is in the ACC
position, and
— All doors are closed, and
— The shift lever is in the
&Pposition.
. Do not leave the vehicle with the
ignition switch in the ACC or ON
position when the engine is not run-
ning for an extended period of time.
This can discharge the battery.
EMERGENCY ENGINE SHUT OFF
To sh\ft off the engine in an emergency sit\fation
while driving, perform the following proced\fre:
.Rapidly p\fsh the p\fsh-b\ftton ignition switch
3 consec\ftive times in less than 1.5
seconds, or
. P\fsh and hold the p\fsh b\ftton ignition
switch for more than 2 seconds.

INTELLIGENT KEY BATTERY DIS-
CHARGE
If the battery of the Intelligent Key i\f almo\ft
di\fcharged\b the guide light
*1of the Intelligent
Key port blink\f and the indicator appear\f on the
vehicle information di\fplay. (
“Intelligent Key
in\fertion indicator” page 2-44)
In thi\f ca\fe\b in\ferting the Intelligent Key into the
port allow\f you to \ftart the engine. Make \fure
that the mechanical key \fide face\f backward a\f
illu\ftrated. In\fert the Intelligent Key in the port
until it i\f latched and \fecured.
To remove the Intelligent Key from the port\b pu\fh
the ignition \fwitch to the OFF po\fition and pull the Intelligent Key out of the port.
NOTICE
Never place anything except the Intelli-
gent Key in the Intelligent Key port.
Doing so may cause damage to the
equipment.
NOTE:
.
Make sure the Intelligent Key is in the
correct direction when inserting it into
the Intelligent Key port. The engine
may not start if it is in the incorrect
direction.
. Remove the Intelligent Key from the
Intelligent Key port after the ignition
switch is pushed to the OFF position.
. The Intelligent Key port does not
charge the Intelligent Key battery. If
you see the low battery indicator in the
vehicle information display, replace the
battery as soon as possible.

Make sure the area around the vehicle is
clear.
. Check fluid levels such as en�fine oil, cool-
ant, brake fluid and �bindo�b �basher fluid as
frequently as possible, or at least �bhenever
you refuel.
. Check that all �bindo�bs and li�fhts are clean.
. Visually inspect tires for their appearance
and condition. Also check tires for proper
inflation.
. Lock all doors.
. Position seat.
. Adjust inside and outside mirrors.
. Fasten seat belts and ask all passen�fers to
do like�bise.
. Check the operation of �barnin�f li�fhts �bhen
the i�fnition s�bitch is pushed to the ON
position. (

.
This vehicle includes spark plugs that
are designed for maximum perfor-
mance. If the start time becomes long-
er, the plugs may be fouled, making the
engine difficult to start. If this occurs,
start the engine using the procedure
described in this section.
. A click sound may be heard when the
brake pedal is depressed and released.
This is normal.
. A low rattling operating sound may
occur when the engine is started or
stopped. This is because of the trans-
mission gear design, light flywheel and
dry sump lubrication system used in
this transmission. This does not indi-
cate that there is a malfunction. This
sound is likely to occur in particular if
the engine is stopped when the tem-
perature of the transmission oil is high.

1. Check the positions of the accele\fato\f pedal
*1and b\fake pedal*2. Ad\bust the stee\fing
wheel and seat positions so that the co\f\fect
d\fiving postu\fe is achieved. (

2. Check that the pa\fking b\fake is engaged.
3. Check that the shift leve\f is in the
&Po\f&N
position. (&Pis \fecommended.)
4. Fi\fmly dep\fess the b\fake pedal. Without dep\fessing the accele\fato\f pedal, push the
ignition switch once to sta\ft the engine.
5. To stop the engine, move the shift leve\f to the
&Pposition, and push the ignition switch
to the OFF position. NOTE:
.
Care should be taken to avoid situa-
tions that can lead to potential battery
discharge and potential no-start condi-
tions such as:
a. Installation or extended use of elec-
tronic accessories that consume
battery power when the engine is
not running (Phone chargers, GPS,
DVD players, etc.)
b. Vehicle is not driven regularly and/
or only driven short distances.
In these cases, the battery may need to
be charged to maintain battery health.
. If the engine is difficult to start, de-
press the accelerator pedal all the way
to the floor and hold it. Push the
ignition switch with the brake pedal
depressed to start cranking the engine.
After 5 or 6 seconds, stop cranking by
pushing the ignition switch to the OFF
position, and then release the accel-
erator pedal. Then perform steps 1 to 5
to start the engine. If the engine starts,
but fails to run, repeat this procedure.
. Starting and stopping the engine over a
short period of time may make the
vehicle more difficult to start. If this
occurs, wait for more than 3 minutes, and then push the ignition switch again
to start the engine.
. To maintain high performance over a
long period of time, the engine speed is
limited to 5,000 rpm when the engine is
revved with the shift lever in the
&Nor
&Pposition, and to 4,000 rpm when the
engine oil or coolant temperature is
low or higher than normal.
. If the ignition switch is pushed before
the shift lever is moved to the
&P
position, the ignition switch will not
change to the OFF position. If this
occurs, the SHIFT
&Pwarning display
appears on the vehicle information
display. When stopping the engine, be
sure to move the shift lever to the
&P
position and then push the ignition
switch. Failure to do so may result in
discharge of the battery. (

. If the shift lever was in the
&A
F&Mor&R
position when the engine was stopped,
then be sure to move the shift lever to
the
&Pposition before starting the
engine the next time. If the engine is
started with the shift lever in the
&N
position, then it may not be possible to

Shift lock release
If the battery charge is low or discharged, the
shift lever �fay not be �foved fro�f the&P
position even with the brake pedal depressed
and the shift lever b�btton p�bshed.
To �fove the shift lever, perfor�f the following
proced�bre.
1. P�bsh the ignition switch to the OFF or LOCK position.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Re�fove the shift lock cover �bsing a s�bitable tool wrapped with a cloth.
4. P�bsh down the shift lock as ill�bstrated. 5. P�bsh the shift lever b�btton and �fove the
shift lever to the
&Nposition while holding
down the shift lock.
P�bsh the ignition switch to the ON position to
�bnlock the steering wheel. Now the vehicle �fay
be �foved to the desired location.
If the battery is discharged co�fpletely, the
steering wheel cannot be �bnlocked. Do not
�fove the vehicle with the steering wheel locked.
NOTICE
If the shift lever cannot be moved out of
the&Pposition after performing the
shift lock release procedure, immedi-
ately have the vehicle inspected by a
GT-R certified NISSAN dealer.
Adaptive shift control
The adaptive shift control syste�f a�bto�fatically
operates when the trans�fission is in the&A
position and selects an appropriate gear de-
pending on the road conditions s�bch as �bphill,
downhill or c�brving roads.
Control on uphill and curving roads:
A low gear is �faintained that s�bits the degree of
the slope or c�brve to allow s�footh driving with a
s�fall n�b�fber of shifts.

. Except for the emergency cases above,
any issues related to driving stability
(e.g., steering maneuvers and maneu-
vers during acceleration and decelera-
tion) and any damages to drivetrain
components (e.g., transfer, clutch, a
sort of gear, transaxle case) will not
be covered by warranty if there is a
record in the Vehicle Status Data
Recorder (VSDR) that the vehicle was
driven with VDC off.
. When attempting to free the vehicle
from mud or fresh snow, the VDC will
detect the tire slipping, and the engine
speed may not increase even when the
accelerator pedal is depressed. To raise
the engine speed, use the VDC set up
switch to turn the VDC system OFF and
select SAVE mode with the transmis- sion switch. (

. When the VDC system is turned OFF,
all VDC functions (including traction
control) , except for the ABS functions,
are deactivated.FREEING A FROZEN DOOR LOCK
To prevent a �boor lock from freezing, apply
�beicer through the key hole. If the lock becomes
frozen, heat the key before inserting it into the
key hole or use the Intelligent Key system.
ANTI-FREEZE
In the winter when it is anticipate�b that the
outsi�be temperature will �brop below 328F (08C) ,
check antifreeze to assure proper winter protec-
tion. (

BATTERY
If the battery is not fully charge�b �buring
extremely col�b weather con�bitions, the battery
flui�b may freeze an�b �bamage the battery. To
maintain maximum efficiency, the battery shoul�b
be checke�b regularly. (
“�fattery” page 8-
17)
DRAINING OF COOLANT WATER
If the vehicle is to be left outsi�be without
antifreeze, �brain the cooling system, inclu�bing
the engine block. Refill before operating the
vehicle. For �betails, contact a GT-R certifie�b
NISSAN �bealer.
COLD WEATHER DRIVING

6. Have all passengers get out of the vehiclean\f stan\f in a safe place, away fro\b traffic
an\f clear of the vehicle.

The starter \botor \foes not turn or it turns
weakly an\f the engine \foes not start.
. The vehicle lights are \buch \fi\b\ber than
usual.
. The soun\f of the horn is weak. The horn
\bakes no soun\f.
NOTICE
When the battery is discharged, do not
close either of the front doors. The
automatic window adjusting function
will not work, and the side roof panel
may be damaged.
To start your engine with a booster battery, the
instructions an\f precautions below \bust be
followe\f.

WARNING
. If done incorrectly, jump starting
can lead to a battery explosion,
resulting in severe injury or death.
It could also damage your vehicle.
. Explosive hydrogen gas is always
present in the vicinity of the battery.
Keep all sparks and flames away
from the battery.
. Do not allow battery fluid to come
into contact with eyes, skin, clothing
or painted surfaces. Battery fluid is
a corrosive sulphuric acid solution
which can cause severe burns. If the
fluid should come into contact with
anything, immediately flush the con-
tacted area with water.
. Keep the battery out of the reach of
children.
. The booster battery must be rated at
12 volts. Use of an improperly rated
battery can damage your vehicle.
. Whenever working on or near a
battery, always wear suitable eye
protectors (for example, goggles or
industrial safety spectacles) and
