CAUTION:
If plural DTCs (including [U1000] CAN COMM CIRCUIT) are displayed, start the diagnosis from
CAN communication circuit.
If NO DTC is displayed at self-diagnosis after any parts other than AFS control unit are replaced,
erase the error history.
Timing Display Has 2 Displays: the Trip Number Counter Display and the CURRENT/PAST Display.
Trip number counter display (U1000, U1010)
“0”: Displays DTC detected when there is malfunction now or trip 0.
“1” - “39”: Displays when it is normal now and finds malfunction in the past. It increases like “0”→
“1” → “2” ··· “38” → “39” after returning to the normal condition whenever IGN OFF → ON. If it is
over “39”, it is fixed to “39”until the self-diagnostic results are erased. It returns to “0” when mal-
function is detected again in the process.
CURRENT/PAST display (B2515, B2516, B2517, B2520, and B2521)
CURRENT: Displays DTC detected when there is malfunction now or trip 0.
PAST: Displays DTC when it is normal now and finds malfunction in the past. It is fixed to PAST
until the self-diagnostic results are erased. It returns to CURRENT when malfunction is detected
again in the process. (In B2520 ST ANGLE SEN CALIB, automatically erases the results after the
steering angle sensor adjustment is completed normally. It is not erased even if “ERASE” is per-
formed.)

HEADLAMP AUTO AIMING CONTROL OPERATION
The height sensor is located on the right side of the rear suspension member and detects vehicle height
change by sensing the displacement of the suspension arm.
When the lighting switch is turned to the 1ST or 2ND position, power is supplied
through IPDM E/R terminal 22
to height sensor terminal 6 and
to front combination lamp RH and LH terminals 3.
At the same time, the vehicle height signal (voltage signal that corresponds to the vehicle height) is applied
through height sensor terminal 7
to front combination lamp RH and LH terminals 6.
Ground is supplied
to front combination lamp RH and LH terminals 4
through grounds E1 and E31.
CAN Communication System DescriptionBKS0041M
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle mul-
tiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many elec-
tronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other
control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2
communication lines (CAN H line, CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring.
Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.
