BCM STATUS CONTROL
BCM changes its status depending on the operation status in order to save power consumption.
1. CAN communication status
With ignition switch ON, CAN communicates with other control units normally.
Control by BCM is being operated properly.
When ignition switch is OFF, switching to sleep mode is possible.
Even when ignition switch is OFF, if CAN communication with IPDM E/R, Intelligent Key unit or unified
meter and A/C amp. is active, CAN communication status is active.
2. Sleep transient status
This status shuts down CAN communication when ignition switch is turned OFF.
It transmits sleep request signal to IPDM E/R, Intelligent Key unit, driver seat control unit and unified
meter and A/C amp.
2 seconds after CAN communication of all control units stops, sleep transient status switches to CAN
communication inactive status.
3. CAN communication inactive status
With ignition switch OFF, CAN communication is not active.
With ignition switch OFF, control performed only by BCM is active.
When all controls that BCM performs stop, CAN communication inactive status switches to sleep sta-
tus.
4. Sleep status
BCM is activated with low power mode.
CAN communication is not active.
When CAN communication operation is detected, it switches to CAN communication status.
When a state of the following switches changes, it switches to CAN communication state.
–Ignition switch (ACC, ON)
–Key switch
–Ignition knob switch
–Hazard switch
–Door lock/unlock switch
–Front door switch (driver side, passenger side)
–Rear door switch (RH, LH)
–Trunk lid opener switch
–Trunk room lamp switch
–Combination switch (passing, lighting switch 1ST position, front fog lamp)
–Remote keyless entry receiver (lock/unlock signal)
When control performed only by BCM is required by switch, it shifts to CAN communication inactive
mode.
Status of combination switch reading function is changed.

OPERATED PROCEDURE
Power Door Lock Operation
BCM receives a LOCK signal from key fob. BCM locks all doors with input of LOCK signal from key fob.
BCM receives a UNLOCK signal from key fob. BCM unlocks all doors with input of UNLOCK signal from key
fob.
Hazard Reminder
When the doors are locked or unlocked by key fob, supply power to hazard warning lamp flashes as follows
LOCK operation: 3 or 4 mode (flash once)
UNLOCK operation: 2 or 4 mode (flash twice)
The hazard reminder has 1, 2, 3 or 4 mode

Auto Door Lock Operation
Auto lock function signal is sent for operation when any of the following signals are not sent within 30 seconds
after the unlock signal is sent from the key fob:
when door switch is turned ON for open.
when the key switch is turned ON.
when the lock signal is sent from the key fob.
Auto door lock mode can be changed using “AUTO LOCK SET” mode in “WORK SUPPORT”.
Refer to BL-54, "

Room Lamp and Ignition Key ring Illumination Operation
When the following conditions come:
condition of interior lamp switch is DOOR position;
door switch OFF (when all the doors are closed);
Remote keyless entry system turns on interior lamp (for 30 seconds) with input of UNLOCK signal from key
fob. For detailed description, refer to LT- 2 1 9 , "
INTERIOR ROOM LAMP" .
CAN Communication System DescriptionBIS000WG
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle mul-
tiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many elec-
tronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other
control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2
communication lines (CAN H line, CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring.
Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only.
CAN Communication UnitBIS000WH
Refer to LAN-49, "CAN System Specification Chart" .
