Engine oil level indicator
When the ignition is switched on,
the engine oil level is indicated for
approximately 5 seconds, after the
service information.
Dipstick
There are 2 level marks
on the dipstick: never ex-
ceed level A.
In position B, top up the
level via the oil reservoir
cap, using the type of oil
suited to your engine.
A = max.
B = min.
Trip recorder zero reset
With the trip distance displayed, press
the button for a few seconds.
Oil level correct
Excess or lack of oil
Flashing indicates an excess or a
lack of oil which may damage the
engine.
If the lack of oil is conirmed by
checking using the dipstick, it is im-
perative that the level is topped up.
If the excess of oil is conirmed, con-
tact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
Oil level gauge fault
(lashing segments)
Check the oil level using the dip-
stick.
If the level is correct, the lashing
indicates an engine oil level gauge
malfunction.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
The level observed on the dipstick
is only valid if the vehicle is parked
on level ground and the engine has
been off for more than
15 minutes.
The total distance is displayed in
zone A of the display and the trip
distance in zone B.

be covered with the fuel remaining in
the tank in accordance with the aver-
age consumption over the last few
miles (kilometres).
This igure may increase if there is a
change in the style of driving or the
road surface, producing a signiicant
drop in current consumption.
When the range is less than 20 miles
(30 km), four segments are dis-
played. After illing with fuel, the
range is displayed when it exceeds
62 miles (100 km).
If horizontal segments are displayed
for long periods instead of digits,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Distance remaining to be
travelled
This is the distance remaining to the
destination, either calculated at any
time by the navigation if guidance
is activated or entered by the user,
minus the distance covered since the
distance was entered.
If digits are missing, dashes are dis-
played in their place.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT's main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also de-
pends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- Since 1992,
all children under
the age of 10 must travel in ap-
proved child seats* suited to
their weight , on seats itted with a
seat belt or ISOFIX mountings**.
- A child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the rearwards fac-
ing position both in the front and
in the rear. PEUGEOT recom-
mends that children should travel
in the "rearwards facing" position
up to the age of two. -
Statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transpor-
tation of children are the rear
seats. PEUGEOT recommends
that children travel in the rear
even when a "rearwards facing"
child seat is used.
- If a child is travelling on a booster seat, check that the lap section of
the seat belt passes over the child's
thighs correctly. The chest section
of the seat belt must be positioned
on the child's shoulder without
touching the neck. PEUGEOT rec-
ommends that you use a booster
seat with a back, itted with a seat
belt guide at shoulder level.
- Remember to fasten the seat belt or the child seat harness keeping
the slack in relation to the child's
body to a minimum , even for short
journeys. Special points relating to the
transportation of children on the
front passenger seat*
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the forwards facing position,
unless the rear seats are already oc-
cupied by other children or the rear
seats cannot be used (absent or
folded). In this case, adjust the front
passenger seat to the intermediate
longitudinal position and leave the
passenger air bag armed**.
The transportation of children in the
rearwards facing position is permit-
ted. In this position, it is essential
to disarm the passenger air bag**.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing killed or seriously injured if the air
bag were to inlate.
* According to current legislation in
the country.
** According to model.

"ISOFIX" MOUNTINGS
Available on:
- the two rear side seats,
- the front passenger seat (407 SW).
These seats are itted with
ISOFIX
mountings .
These are two rings, located between
the seat back and the seat cushion.
The ISOFIX child seats are itted
with two locks which are secured
easily on these lower rings.
Incorrect installation of a child seat
in a vehicle compromises the pro-
tection of the child in the event of a
collision.
The ISOFIX securing system guar-
antees reliable, safe and fast itting
of the child seat in your vehicle.
You can only it the ISOFIX child
seats approved by PEUGEOT and
presented below on your vehicle's
ISOFIX mountings. The ISOFIX KIDDY child seat
It can be itted in the "rear facing"
position from birth to 13 kg and in
the "forwards facing" position from 9
and 18 kg.
In the rear:

- in the "forwards facing" position, the front seat must be in the com-
pulsory mid-way position, seat
back upright.
- in the "rear facing" position, the body of the child seat must be in
contact with the back of the corre-
sponding front seat.
407 saloon and 407 SW comfort
In the front (407 SW):
- in the "forwards facing" position, the front passenger seat must be
in the mid-way position, seat back
upright and seat cushion in the low-
est position.
- in the "rear facing" position, the front passenger seat must be in
the fully forward position so that the
body of the child seat is in contact
with or as close as possible to the
fascia. The angle of the seat cush-
ion* must be in the lowest position.
When the ISOFIX KIDDY seat is
installed in the "rear facing" posi-
tion on the front passenger seat,
it is imperative that the passenger
air bag is disarmed.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing killed or seriously injured if the
air bag were to inlate.
Follow the instructions for installing
the child seat indicated in the seat
manufacturer's installation guide.
* According to version.

CHILD SEATS
RECOMMENDED BY
PEUGEOT
In addition to the ISOFIX child seats,
PEUGEOT offers a complete range
of child seats which are secured us-
ing the
seat belt :
L2 - "Römer Baby-Safe": installed
in the rear-facing position using a
three-point seat belt.
Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg
L1 - "Britax Babysure": installed in the
rear-facing position using a three-point
seat belt.
Groups 1, 2 and 3: from 9 to 36 kg
L3 - "Kiddy Life": installed using a three-
point seat belt.
The height and width at the shoul-
ders and the length of the seat cush-
ion must be adjusted according to
the age and build of your child.
For the safety of young children (from
9 to 18 kg), PEUGEOT recommends
use of the restraining cushion.
407 saloon and 407 SW comfort
The ISOFIX RÖMER Duo child
seat
This child seat is only itted in the
rear in the "forwards facing" position
for children weighing between 9 and
18 kg. It is secured without the upper
strap called the Top Tether.
For your child's comfort, three seat
body angles are possible: upright,
reclining and lat.
When the RÖMER Duo is installed
on the rear side seat, the vehicle's
front seat must be adjusted so that
the child's feet do not touch the back
of the front seat.
Follow the instructions for itting
these child seats in the seat manu-
facturer's instruction booklet.
These child seats can also be used
on seats not itted with ISOFIX
mountings. In this case it is compul-
sory to attach them to the vehicle's
seat by means of the three-point seat
belt. The deep and strengthened shell is
designed to guarantee the child opti-
mum protection in the event of a side
collision.
When one of these seats is installed
in the front, it is compulsory to disarm
the passenger air bag* and the ve-
hicle's seat must be adjusted to the
intermediate longitudinal position.

L5 -
"Klippan Optima": installed using
a three-point seat belt.
From the age of 6 years (approxi-
mately 22 kg), the booster is used
on its own. Recommendations
For optimum installation of a for-
wards facing child seat, check that
the back of the child seat is resting
against the back of the vehicle's seat
correctly and that the head restraint
does not cause any discomfort.
If it is necessary to remove the head
restraint, as in the case of the "RE-
CARO Start", "KLIPPAN Optima"
and "KIDDY Life" child seats (over
6 years of age), ensure that the head
restraint is securely stored or at-
tached so that it cannot act as a pro-
jectile in the event of sharp braking.
Disarm the passenger air bag*
when installing a "rearwards fac-
ing" child seat on the front pas-
senger seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being seriously injured
or killed were the air bag to in-
late.
Never leave one or more chil-
dren alone and unsupervised
in a vehicle.
Never leave a child or an
animal in a vehicle which is exposed
to the sun and has the windows
closed.
To protect your young children from
the sun, it blinds on the rear win-
dows.
Never leave the keys within reach of
children inside the vehicle.
Observe strictly the recommenda-
tions for assembling and securing
the child seat as shown in the child
seat instructions.
To prevent the doors from opening
accidentally, use the child lock*.
Also, do not open the windows more
than a third*.
* According to model.
