BONNET
Opening the bonnet
To open, pull handle1.
Bonnet safety lock
To unlock, lift lever2.
Lift the bonnet, release the strut4
from its mounting3. For your safety,
thismustbe placed in location5.
Closing the bonnet
To close the bonnet, replace strut4
in its mounting3,hold the bonnet
in the middle and lower it to 20 cm
above the closed position. Now
release it and it will lock under its
own weight.
Check that the bonnet is correctly
locked.
Check that nothing has been left in
the engine compartment before
closing the bonnet.
Ensure it is correctly
locked.
Take care when working
under the bonnet as the
engine cooling fan may
cut in at any moment.

OPERATING INCIDENTS(continued)
On the open road CAUSES REMEDIAL ACTION
• Abnormal white smoke from the
exhaust.Mechanical fault: cylinder head gasket
blown.Stop the engine.
Consult a Renault Dealer.
• Smoke under the bonnet. Short circuit. Stop the vehicle, switch off the
ignition, disconnect the battery.
Cooling circuit fault. Consult a Renault Dealer.
• The oil pressure warning light
illuminates
- when cornering or braking. The level is too low. Top up the oil.
- at idle speed. The oil pressure is too low. Consult the nearest Renault Dealer.
- is slow to extinguish or remains
illuminated on acceleration.Loss of oil pressure. Stop and call for the assistance of a
Renault Dealer.
• The engine lacks power. Dirty air filter. Replace the cartridge.
Fuel supply fault. Check the fuel level.
Spark plugs faulty, incorrect gap. Consult a Renault Dealer.
• Idle speed unsteady or engine stalls. Lack of compression (spark plugs,
ignition, air leak)Consult a Renault Dealer.
