TYRES(continued)
Tyre inflation pressures
Tyre inflation pressures must be
adhered to. (Remember to check the
emergency spare wheel at the same
time.) Inflation pressures must be
checked at least once a month and
always before a long journey. (Refer
to the section on Tyre inflation
pressures).
Incorrect tyre pressures
lead to abnormal tyre
wear and unusually hot
running. Factors which may
seriously affect safety and lead
to:
- poor roadholding
- possibility of blow-outs or of
throwingatreadathighspeed.
Inflation pressures depend on
the load and the driving speed.
Adjust the pressures according
to the conditions of use. (Refer to
the section on tyre inflation
pressures).Pressures should be checked when
the tyres are cold; ignore higher
pressures which may be reached in
hot weather or after driving at high
speeds.
If tyre pressures cannot be checked
when the tyres arecold,assume an
increase of0.2to0.3bar (3PSI).
Never deflate a hot tyre.
Note:a label (depending on country
or version) affixed to the edge or
frame of the driver's door gives the
recommended tyre pressures.
Replacing tyres
For safety reasons, this
operation must only be
carried out by a
specialist.
Fitting different tyres may
change your vehicle as follows:
- It may mean that your vehicle
no longer conforms to current
regulations.
- It may change the way it
handles when cornering.
- It may cause the steering to be
heavy.
- It may cause tyre noise.
- It may affect the use of chains.
Changing wheels around
This practice is not recommended.
Emergency spare wheel
Refer to the information on the
emergency spare wheel and
instructions on how to change a
wheel in section 5.

TYRES(continued)
Use in winter
• Chains
For safety reasons, chains must
never be fitted to the wheels on
the rear axle.
Chains must not be fittedto tyres
which are larger than those
originally fitted to the vehicle.
Chainsmayonlybefitted
to tyres of the same size
as those originally fitted
toyour vehicle.•“Snow” or winter tyres
We recommend that these are
fitted toall four wheelsto ensure
that your vehicle retains
maximum road holding.
Note:These tyres sometimes
have:
- a specific direction of rotation
- a maximum speed which may
be lower than the maximum
speed of your vehicle.
•Studded tyres
This type of equipment may only
be used for a limited period and
as laid down by local legislation.
It is necessary to keep to the speed
specified by current legislation.
As a minimum, these tyres may be
fitted to the two front wheels.
In all cases, we recommend that
you consult your Renault Dealer,
who will be able to advise you on
the choice of equipment which is
most suitable for your vehicle.
