Audio main operation
The audio system operates when the ignition switch is
in the \fACC” or \fO\b” position.
POWER button:
To turn on the audio system, push the Power button.
.The system will turn on in the mode, (radio or CD)
which was used immediately before the system
was turned off.
. If there is no CD loaded, the radio will be turned
on.
To turn off the audio system, push the PWR button.
Volume control:
To control the volume, turn the VOLUME control knob.
Turn the knob clockwise to make the sound louder.
Turn the knob counterclockwise to make the sound
quieter.
MENU button:
To change the audio settings, push the
button to
select the mode while the CD or radio is on.
Push the
button until the desired mode appears
on the display.
BASS ?TREBLE ?FADE ?BALA\bCE ?BEEP ?
CLOCK ?BASS
Push the SEEK/TRACK button (
or) or
TU\bE/FF·REW/FOLDER button (or) to
adjust the audio settings.
:( í) to decrease / (+) to increase
:(í) to decrease / (+) to increase
: (F) to front fade / (R) to rear fade
: (R) to right balance / (L) to left balance
Once the audio settings are set to the desired level, push the
button until the radio or CD display
appears.
If no action is performed for approximately 5 seconds,
the audio settings mode will automatically return to the
normal mode.
To turn the beep sound off or on, push the SEEK/
TRACK button
oror TU\bE/FF·REW/
FOLDER buttonoruntil the desired
mode is displayed. This turns on or off the beep sound
when audio buttons are pushed.
Clock display:
To display the clock on the screen, perform the
following operations.
1. Push the
button repeatedly until CLOCK O\b
or OFF appears on the display while the audio
system is on.
2. Push the SEEK/TRACK button
oror
TU\bE/FF·REW/FOLDER buttonorto select CLOCK O\b.
Clock adjustment:
To adjust the clock, turn the clock display on and
perform the following operations.
1. Push the
button while CLOCK O\b is on the
display. The hour and minute digits blink.
2. To adjust the hours, push the SEEK/TRACK button
or.
3. To adjust the minutes, push the TU\bE/FF·REW/ FOLDER button
or.
If no user input is detected for 10 seconds, or when
the \fME\bU” button is pushed, the clock setting mode
will automatically return to the normal mode.
CD player operation

The audio system operates when the ignition switch is

Loading:
Insert a CD into the slot with the label side facing up.
The CD will be guided automatically into the slot and
will start playing. To stop playing, push the Power
button.
CAUTION:
Do not force the compact disc into the slot. This
could damage the player.
button:
When the
button is pushed while a CD is loaded,
the CD will start playing automatically.

SEEK/TRACK/FILE button:
When the
\futton (lo\bated on the left side) is
pushed while a CD is \feing played, the present tra\bk
will \fe advan\bed and move to the next tra\bk. Push
the
\futton several times to skip forward tra\bks.
The CD will advan\be the num\fer of times the \futton is
pushed. When the last tra\bk of the CD is forwarded,
the first tra\bk will \fe played.
When the
\futton is pushed while a CD is \feing
played, the present tra\bk will start over from the
\feginning of the \burrent tra\bk. Push the
\futton
several times to skip \fa\bk tra\bks. The CD will rewind
the num\fer of times the \futton is pushed. When the
first tra\bk of the CD is rewound, the last tra\bk will \fe
played.
TUNE/FF·REW/FOLDER button:
When the
or\futton (lo\bated on the
right side) is pushed and held while a CD is \feing
played, the CD will \fe played while forwarding or
rewinding. When the \futton is released, the CD will
return to the normal play speed.
When the
\futton oris pushed while a
CD with MP3 or WMA is \feing played, the first tra\bk in
the next or the previous folder will \fe played.
button:
When the
\futton is pushed while a CD is \feing
played, the first 10 se\bonds of all the tra\bks will \fe
played.
When the
\futton is pushed again, the CD will
return to normal play from the tra\bk whi\bh is playing.
(Repeat) button:
To \bhange the play settings, push the
\futton to
sele\bt the mode.
CD:
RPT DISC ?RPT TRACK
CD with MP3 or WMA:
RPT DISC ?RPT FOLDER ?RPT TRACK
RPT DISC:
All the tra\bks of the CD will \fe played \bontinuously in
sequential order. The display indi\bates no sym\fol
mark. While the
\futton is pushed, the display
indi\bates “RPT DISC”.
RPT TRACK:
The sele\bted tra\bk of the CD will \fe played \bon-
tinuously. While the
\futton is pushed, the display
indi\bates “RPT TRACK”.
RPT FOLDER:
All the tra\bks of sele\bted folder will \fe played
\bontinuously in sequential order (CD with MP3 or
WMA only) . While the
\futton is pushed, the
display indi\bates “RPT FOLDER”.
(Random) button:
To \bhange the play sequen\be, push the
\futton to
sele\bt the mode.
CD:
RDM DISC ?RPT DISC
CD with MP3 or WMA:
RDM DISC ?RDM FOLDER ?RPT DISC
RPT DISC:
All the tra\bks of the CD will \fe played \bontinuously in
sequential order. The display indi\bates no sym\fol
mark. While the
\futton is pushed, the display
indi\bates “RPT DISC”.
RDM DISC:
All the tra\bks or folders (CD with MP3 or WMA only) of
the CD will \fe played \bontinuously in random order.
While the
\futton is pushed, the display indi\bates
“RDM DISC”.
RDM FOLDER:
All the tra\bks of the sele\bted folder will \fe played
\bontinuously in random order (CD with MP3 or WMA
only) . While the
\futton is pushed, the display
indi\bates “RDM FOLDER”.
(Scroll) button:
When the title is displayed \fut it is a long one, the
whole title is not shown in the display. In this \base,
push the \futton to s\broll the title. When the title is
s\brolled to the end of it, the display will stop moving
and return to the first \bondition.

MUTE button:
Press the
button to pause the track.
CD EJECT button:
To eject a CD\f push the CD EJECT
button.
When the
button \bs pushed tw\bce\f the CD w\bll be
ejected further\f and the CD can be removed w\bth ease.
If a CD \bs ejected by push\bng the
button\f and \bt \bs
not taken out from the load\bng slot\f the CD w\bll
automat\bcally be reloaded to the slot to protect the CD
(12 cm d\bscs only) .
AUX button:
The AUX IN jack \bs located on the aud\bo un\bt. The AUX
IN aud\bo \bnput jack accepts any standard analog aud\bo
\bnput such as from a portable cassette tape\f CD player\f
MP3 player or laptop computers.
Push the AUX button to play a compat\bble dev\bce when
\bt \bs plugged \bnto the AUX IN jack.
RENAULT strongly recommends us\bng a stereo m\bn\b
plug cable when connect\bng your mus\bc dev\bce to the
aud\bo system. Mus\bc may not play properly when a
monaural cable \bs used.
CAUTION:
Do not allow the cable or an external device
connected to the AUX terminal to affect your
driving.
WARNING:
. Depending on the external device, please
note that the volume may be louder or
quieter than that of the external device.
. When the AUX contacts with the plug of the
connector cable, noise may be heard.
. The connected exterior device cannot be
operated with the main audio system. The
volume and sound quality can be adjusted.
. The song title in the external device cannot
be displayed on the audio display.
. For the power source of the external device,
use the special battery. The external device
cannot be charged with the AUX terminal.
Noise may be heard if the CD, radio etc. is
operated while charging the battery with the
power socket of the vehicle.

South America):
To change the frequency range and step spec\bf\bcat\bon
of the rad\bo\f perform the follow\bng operat\bons.
1. Turn the aud\bo un\bt off by push\bng the POWER
button.
2. Turn the aud\bo un\bt on by push\bng the POWER button wh\ble push\bng the rad\bo memory buttons
and thebutton.
For Central/South Amer\bca spec\bf\bcat\bon\f the d\bsplay
\bnd\bcates “AM 530 kHz”.
For the other spec\bf\bcat\bon\f the d\bsplay \bnd\bcates “AM
531 kHz”.
If you exper\bence d\bff\bcult\bes \bn chang\bng rad\bo spec\b-
f\bcat\bon\f contact a RENAULT dealer.

When the

To change the rad\bo bands\f push the

The FM stereo \bnd\bcator\f “ST” w\bll d\bsplay dur\bng FM
stereo recept\bon. When the stereo broadcast s\bgnal \bs

TUNE/FF·REW/FOLDER button:
When adjusting the broadcasting station \frequency
manua\b\by, push the
orbutton unti\b the
desired \frequency is achieved.
When adjusting the broadcasting station \frequency
automatica\b\by, push the
orbutton.
When the system detects a broadcasting station, it
wi\b\b stop at the station.
SEEK button:
When adjusting the broadcasting station \frequency
automatica\b\by, push the
button. When the
system detects a broadcasting station, it wi\b\b stop at
the station.
button:
When the
button is pushed, the system wi\b\b seek
and stop at the detected broadcasting station \for 5
seconds, and then it wi\b\b start to seek \for the next
broadcasting station.
Push the
button in this 5-second period to stop
seeking.
Radio memory button:
The audio system can store up to 12 FM station
\frequencies (\for FM1 and FM2) and 6 AM station
\frequencies.
To store the station \frequency:
1. Tune to the desired broadcasting station \fre- quency by using the
orbutton.
2. Push and ho\bd a memory button (1 - 6) unti\b a beep sounds. 3. The switch number and \frequency wi\b\b appear on
the disp\bay when the memory is stored proper\by.
4. Per\form steps 1 - 3 \for a\b\b other memory buttons.
Push a memory button (1 - 6) to se\bect a desired
memory.
I\f the battery cab\be is disconnected, or i\f the audio \fuse
b\bows, the radio memory wi\b\b be erased. In such a case,
reset the desired stations.
(Automatic Preset) button:
The audio system can store up to 6 FM station
\frequencies and 6 AM station \frequencies.
To store the station \frequency automatica\b\by, push and
ho\bd the
button unti\b a beep sounds. The station
wi\b\b be automatica\b\by stored in the “AUTO.P” memory.
The disp\bay indicates “AP-**”.
Push the
button to se\bect a desired memory.
MUTE button:
Press the
button to mute the sound. Press again
to restore the sound.

Anti-theft system (if equipped\f
This unit can \bnly be activated when the igniti\bn switch
f\br Anti-Theft System is in the “ACC” \br “ON” p\bsiti\bn.
Each radi\b is uniquely matched t\b the vehicle’s
imm\bbilizer and theref\bre cann\bt be transferred t\b
any \bther vehicle.
Audi\b main \bperati\bn
The audi\b system \bperates when the igniti\bn switch is
in the “ACC” \br “ON” p\bsiti\bn.
POWER ON/OFF button:
T\b turn \bn the audi\b system, push the POWER ON/
OFF butt\bn.
.The system will turn \bn in the m\bde, (radi\b \br CD\f
which was used immediately bef\bre the system
was last turned \bff.
. If there is n\b CD l\baded, the radi\b will be turned

T\b turn \bff the audi\b system, push the POWER ON/

Volume control:

Turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial cl\bckwise t\b increase

Sound preference button:

1. Push the MENU butt\bn while the audi\b system is \bn.
2. Turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial until "CLOCK" appears \bn the display.
3. Push the ENTER butt\bn. ("CLOCK OFF" \br "CLOCK ON" is displayed.\f
4. T\b turn \bn the cl\bck display, turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial till "CLOCK ON" is displayed. T\b turn
\bff the cl\bck display, turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial
till "CLOCK OFF" is displayed, and push ENTER. Clock adjustment
T\b adjust the time \bf the cl\bck, perf\brm the f\bll\bwing
\bperati\bns.
1. Push the ENTER butt\bn while "CLOCK ON" is
displayed.
2. The h\bur display will flash.
3. Turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial t\b adjust the h\bur.
4. Push the ENTER butt\bn. The minute display will flash.
5. Turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial t\b adjust the minute.
6. Push the ENTER butt\bn t\b c\bmplete the cl\bck adjustment.
Mute button:
Push the MUTE butt\bn t\b mute the audi\b system.
MUTE appears \bn the display. T\b unmute, use any \bne
\bf the f\bll\bwing \bpti\bns:
. Push the MUTE butt\bn again.
. Turn the VOLUME c\bntr\bl dial.
. Push the CD, FM \br AM butt\bn.

CD player operation

The audio system operates when the ignition switch is
in the “ACC” or “ON” position.
Loading:
Insert a CD into the slot with the label side facing up.
The CD will be guided automatically into the slot and
will start playing. If the radio is already playing, it will
automatically turn off, and the CD will start playing.
CAUTION:
Do not force the CD into the slot. This could
damage the player.
After loading the CD, the number of tracks and the
playtime will appear on the display.
CD button:
When the
button is pushed while the audio
system is off and a CD is loaded, the audio system will
turn on and a CD will start playing automatically. If the
radio is already playing, it will automatically turn off and
the CD will start playing.
/FF (Fast Forward) , REW (Rewind)
button:
Push and hold the FF or REW button while a CD is
being played to fast-forward or rewind though the
track. When the button is released, the CD will return
to the normal play speed.
/TRACK UP/ DOWN button:
Push the track up button while a CD is being played to
skip forward to the next track. The CD will advance the
number of times the button is pushed. When the last
track of the CD is skipped, the first track will be played.
Push the track down button while a CD is being played
to start the present track again from the beginning.
Push the track down button several times to skip back
to the previous track. The CD will skip tracks backward
the number of times the button is pushed. When the
first track of the CD is skipped, the last track will be
played.
Repeat button:
Push the
button repeatedly to change the play
mode as follows:
RPT (REPEAT) TRACK ?RPT (REPEAT) ALL ?RPT
(REPEAT) TRACK
RPT TRACK:
The selected track will be played repeatedly.
RPT ALL:
All the tracks on the CD will be played in sequential
order.
MIX button:
Push the
button repeatedly to change the play
mode as follows:
MIX DI\fC ?RPT (REPEAT) ALL ?MIX DI\fC
MIX DI\fC:
All the tracks on the CD will be played in a random
order.
RPT ALL:
All the tracks on the CD will be played in sequential
order.
CD EJECT button:
When the
button is pushed while a CD is loaded,
the CD will be ejected.

button is pushed twice, the CD will be
ejected further, and the CD can be removed easily.
If a CD is ejected by pushing the
button, and it is
not taken out from the loading slot, the CD will
automatically be reloaded to the slot to protect the CD.

upo\f which preset cha\f\fel 1 is automatically tu\fed i\f.
TUNE button:
Whe\f adjusti\fg the broadcasti\fg statio\f freque\fcy
ma\fually, push the
orbutto\f u\ftil the
preferred freque\fcy is obtai\fed.
The freque\fcy cha\fges i\f steps of 100 kHz o\f the FM
ba\fd, 9 kHz o\f the MW ba\fd, a\fd 3 kHz o\f the LW
ba\fd.
SEEK button:
Whe\f adjusti\fg the broadcasti\fg statio\f freque\fcy
automatically, push the
orbutto\f. Whe\f the
system detects a broadcasti\fg statio\f, it will stop at
that statio\f.
*1*2*3*4*5*6Radio memory buttons:
The audio system ca\f store up to 18 FM statio\f
freque\fcies (six i\f each of FM 1, FM 2 a\fd FM T) , 6
MW a\fd 6 LW statio\f freque\fcies.
To store the statio\f freque\fcy ma\fually:
1. Tu\fe to the preferred broadcasti\fg statio\f fre- que\fcy by usi\fg the
orbutto\f.
2. Push a\fd hold a radio memory butto\f
*1-*6u\ftil a beep sou\fds. (The radio mutes whe\f the
memory butto\f is pushed.)
3. The cha\f\fel i\fdicator will be displayed a\fd the radio mute will be ca\fcelled, i\fdicati\fg that the
memory is stored properly.
4. Perform steps 1 - 3 for all other memory butto\fs.
If the battery cable is disco\f\fected, or if the audio fuse
blows, the radio memory will be erased. If this occurs,
reset the desired statio\fs.
Radio data system (RDS)
Alternative Frequency (AF):
. The \bF fu\fctio\f operates i\f the FM (radio) a\fd CD
modes.
. Whe\f the \bF mode is set to “ON” i\f the user
setup me\fu mode, the \bF i\fdicator illumi\fates.
For activatio\f or deactivatio\f, use the MENU butto\f.
(Details are explai\fed later i\f this sectio\f.)
. Automatic switching function
This fu\fctio\f compares the stre\fgths of the
sig\fals of all the statio\fs o\f the \bF list a\fd
selects the statio\f with the optimum receptio\f
co\fditio\fs.
. Program Information (PI) search
Program I\fformatio\f (PI) search begi\fs automati- cally if \fo suitable statio\f is fou\fd with the above
automatic switchi\fg fu\fctio\f. The PI search
fu\fctio\f checks each RDS statio\f with the same
PI code. Duri\fg this time the sou\fd is muted a\fd
“PI SE\bRCH” is displayed. The PI search opera-
tio\f stops whe\f a suitable statio\f is fou\fd. If \fo
statio\f is fou\fd o\fce all the freque\fcies have bee\f
searched, the radio retur\fs to the previous
freque\fcy.
. Enhanced Other Network (EON) data update
(This function also operates when the AF
mode is off.)
Whe\f EON data is bei\fg received, this e\fables
automatic retu\fi\fg of other preset statio\fs o\f the
same \fetwork. \blso, \fetwork li\fked services ca\f
be used. The EON i\fdicator tur\fs o\f duri\fg
receptio\f of RDS EON statio\fs i\f the FM mode.
RDS functions:
. Programme Service (PS) function (station
name display function)
Whe\f a\f RDS statio\f is tu\fed i\f with seek or
ma\fual tu\fi\fg, RDS data is received a\fd the
Program Service (PS) \fame is displayed.
. Emergency broadcast interrupt function
(ALARM INTERRUPTION —EBU SPEC FOR
INFO)
Whe\f the radio receives PTY code 31 (a\f
emerge\fcy broadcast code) , the sou\fd is i\fter-
rupted, the emerge\fcy broadcast is heard, a\fd
“PTY31 \bL\bRM” is displayed. The volume level at
this time is the same as that for traffic a\f\fou\fce-
me\fts. O\fce the emerge\fcy broadcast is fi\fished,
the u\fit immediately retur\fs to the previous
source.
. REG (Regional) mode
Some local radio statio\fs are li\fked together

according to their region because they only offer
limited coverage due to their limited number of
transmitters\f If the signal from one station be-
comes wea\b while you are driving around, RDS
mode will switch to another local station in the
region with a stronger signal\f
When the REG mode is activated in the FM band
and the radio receiver is tuned to a local radio
station, it will \beep receiving this radio station
without switching to another local station\f For
activation or deactivation, use the MENU button\f
(Details are explained later in this section\f)
Traffic Announcement (TA):
. The TA function operates in the FM and CD

. The TA mode is turned on or off when the TA
button is pushed for less than 2 seconds\f
. The TA mode operates regardless of whether the
AF mode is on or off\f
. “TA ON” is displayed when the TA mode is turned
on, and the TA indicator turns on\f “TA OFF” is
displayed when the TA mode is turned off, and the
TA indicator turns off\f
The following functions operate when the TA mode is
on:
. Traffic announcement interrupt function
When a traffic announcement is received, the
announcement is tuned in and the volume
increases to the set level\f
Once the traffic announcement is finished, the unit
returns to the source which was set before the
traffic announcement started, and the volume
returns to the previous level\f For EON stations,
the radio is interrupted by another EON station
with traffic announcements\f
The traffic announcement interrupt mode is cancelled if the TA button is pushed during a
traffic announcement\f The TA mode returns to the
standby mode and the audio unit returns to the
previous source\f
News mode
When the NEWS button is pushed for longer than 2
seconds in the FM mode, the news function is
activated\f “NEWS” is displayed for 3 seconds and
the NEWS indicator appears on the display\f
When the news function is activated, the radio
receives a news code from the FM broadcasting news
station and the actual playing mode will be interrupted\f
Once the news broadcast is finished, the unit returns
to the previous mode\f
In some countries or regions, this service is not
available or the signal is too wea\b to be received\f
1\f News standby mode
.The news standby mode can be activated in
the FM or CD mode\f
.A news interruption will be announced and
“NEWS” will be displayed when the radio
detects the news code from the tuned station
or EON stations\f The display will then change
to the PS name of the interrupting station\f
.When pushing the NEWS button for longerthan 2 seconds, the news standby mode is
turned off and the indicator disappears from
the display\f
2\f News interruption mode
.When the NEWS button is pushed during the
news interruption mode, the radio returns to the
previous source\f However, the news standby
mode is maintained\f
.When thebutton is pushed during the
news interruption mode, the radio changes to the CD mode\f However, the news standby
mode is maintained\f
If the radio band is changed to the MW or LW,
the news standby mode will be turned off\f
MENU button:
To configure Alternative Frequency, Regional and
Language settings, perform the following procedure:
1\f Push and hold the MENU button for at least 1\f5 seconds\f
2\f Turn the VOLUME control dial cloc\bwise or countercloc\bwise\f The display message will
change as follows:
AF⇔REG ⇔LANGUAGE ⇔AF
. To activate or deactivate the AF and REG mode,
briefly push the ENTER button when AF or REG
appears on the display and turn the VOLUME
control dial cloc\bwise or countercloc\bwise to
switch between the off or on position\f After
selection, push the ENTER button to confirm the
settings\f
— When the AF mode is enabled, the audio unit
will automatically re-tune to a stronger fre-
quency if the radio signal becomes wea\b\f
— When the REG mode is enabled, the audio unit will maintain and maintain the station which is
broadcasting local (regional) programmes\f
. To change the display language, briefly push the
ENTER button when LANGUAGE appears on the
display then turn the MENU/VOL dial cloc\bwise or
countercloc\bwise to select the appropriate lan-
guage setting\f

After selecting the preferred language\f push the
ENTE\b button to exit the menu.
To configure the SPEED volume and BEEP settings\f
perform the following procedure:
1. Push the MENU button.
2. Turn the Volume control dial clockwise or counter- clockwise. The display message will change as
follows:
SPEED VOL ⇔CLOCK ⇔BEEP
. When SPEED VOL appears on the display\f briefly
push the ENTE\b button then turn the VOLUME
control dial clockwise or counterclockwise to
adjust the level of the volume.
Adjusting the setting to 0 (zero) turns off the
speed volume feature. Increasing the speed
volume setting results in the audio volume
increasing more rapidly with vehicle speed. Push
the ENTE\b button again to save the setting.
. When BEEP appears on the display\f briefly push
the ENTE\b button and then turn the VOLUME
control dial clockwise or counterclockwise to
switch the beep sound on or off. Push the ENTE\b
button again to save the setting.
After the preferred levels have been set\f push the
MENU button to exit the menu or wait at least for 10
seconds without pressing any buttons.
