lever down \fo \fhe “AUTO” posi\fion
*1. The wiper will

The rain sensor sensi\fivi\f\b level can be adjus\fed b\b

To \furn \fhe rain-sensing au\fo wiper s\bs\fem off, push up
\fhe lever \fo \fhe “OFF” posi\fion, or pull down \fhe lever

” (LO) or “” (HI) posi\fion.
CAUTION:
Do not touch the rain sensor and around it when
the wiper switch is in the “AUTO” position and
the ignition switch is in the “ON” position. The
wipers may operate unexpectedly and cause to
an injury or a wiper damage. .
The rain-sensing auto wipers are intended
for use during rain. If the switch is left in the
“AUTO” position, the wipers may operate
unexpectedly when dirt, fingerprints, oil film
or insects are stuck on or around the sensor.
The wipers may also operate when exhaust
gas or moisture affect the rain sensor.
. When the windshield glass is coated with
water repellent, the speed of the rain-sen-
sing auto wipers may be higher even though
the amount of the rainfall is small.
. Be sure to turn off the rain-sensing auto
wiper system when you use a car wash.
. The rain-sensing auto wipers may not oper-
ate if rain does not hit the rain sensor even if
it is raining.
REAR WINDOW WIPER AND WASHER
SWITCH (if equipped)

JVI0274XType BIf the rear window wiper operation is interrupted
by snow etc., the wiper may stop moving to
protect its motor. If this occurs, turn the wiper
switch to OFF and remove the snow etc. on and
around the wiper arms. In approximately 1
minute, turn the switch ON again to operate
the wiper.
The rear window wiper and washer opera\fes when \fhe
igni\fion swi\fch is in \fhe “ON” posi\fion.
Wiper opera\fion
The swi\fch posi\fion “INT”*1opera\fes \fhe wiper

Reverse synchronization function (if equipped):
When \fhe windshield wiper swi\fch is on, moving \fhe
selec\for lever \fo \fhe “R” (Reverse) posi\fion will opera\fe
\fhe rear window wiper.

Tires*:
Check the pressure with a gauge often and alwa\fs
prior to long distance trips. If necessar\f, ad\bust the
pressure in all tires, including the spare, to the
pressure specified. Check carefull\f for damage, cuts
or excessive wear.
Tire rotation*:
Tires should be rotated ever\f 10,000 km (6,000
miles) . However, the timing for tire rotation ma\f var\f
according to \four driving habits and the road surface
conditions.
Wheel alignment and balance (for Europe):
If the vehicle should pull to either side while driving on
a straight and level road, or if \fou detect uneven or
abnormal tire wear, there ma\f be a need for wheel
alignment.
If the steering wheel or seat vibrates at normal highwa\f
speeds, wheel balancing ma\f be needed.
Windshield:
Clean the windshield on a regular basis. Check the
windshield at least ever\f six months for cracks or other
damage. Have a damaged windshield repaired b\f a
qualified repair facilit\f.
Wiper blades*:
Check for cracks or wear if the\f do not wipe properl\f.
Inside vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be checked
on a regular basis, such as when performing periodic
maintenance, cleaning the vehicle, etc.Accelerator pedal:
Check the pedal for smooth operation and make sure
that the pedal does not catch or require uneven effort.
Keep the floor mats awa\f from the pedal.
Brake pedal*:
Check the pedal for smooth operation and make sure
that it has the proper distance under it when
depressed full\f. Check the brake booster function.
Keep the floor mats awa\f from the pedal.
Parking brake*:
Check that the pedal/lever has the proper distance of
travel.
Seat belts:
Check that all parts of the seat belt s\fstem (for
example, buckles, anchors, ad\busters and retractors)
operate properl\f and smoothl\f, and that the\f are
installed securel\f. Check the belt webbing for cuts,
fra\fing, wear or damage.
Steering wheel:
Check for changes in the steering conditions, such as
excessive free pla\f, hard steering or strange noises.
Warning lights and chimes:
Make sure that all warning lights and chimes are
operating properl\f.
Windshield defogger:
Check that the air comes out of the defogger outlets
properl\f and in good quantit\f when operating the
heater or air conditioner.
Windshield wiper and washer*:
Check that the wipers and washer operate properl\f
and that the wipers do not streak.
Under hood and vehicle
The maintenance items listed here should be checked
periodicall\f (for example, each time \fou check the
engine oil or refuel) .
Battery*:
Check the fluid level in each cell. It should be between
the UPPER and LOWER levels. Vehicles operated in
high temperatures or under severe conditions require
frequent checks of the batter\f fluid level.
Brake and clutch fluid level*:
Make sure that the brake and clutch fluid level is
between the MAX and MIN lines on the reservoir.
Engine coolant level*:
Check the coolant level when the engine is cold.
Engine drive belts*:
Make sure the drive belts are not fra\fed, worn, cracked
or oil\f.
Engine oil level*:
Check the level on the dipstick after parking the vehicle
on a level surface and turning off the engine.
Fluid leaks:
Check under the vehicle for fuel, oil, water or other fluid
leaks after the vehicle has been parked for a while.
Water dripping from the air conditioner after use is
normal. If \fou should notice an\f leaks or if fuel fumes
are evident, check for the cause and have it corrected
immediatel\f.

department. Do not mix with other fluids.
. Using transmission fluid other than fluids
approved by our technical department will
damage the CVT, which is not covered by the
warranty. T\be viscous paper type fi\fter e\fement s\bou\fd not be
c\feaned and reused.
T\be dry paper type fi\fter e\fement may be c\feaned and
reused.
Rep\face t\be air c\feaner fi\fter according to t\be main-
tenance \fog s\bown in a separate maintenance book\fet.
Contact a RENAULT dea\fer if maintenance or rep\face-
ment is required.
WARNING:
Operating the engine with the air cleaner filter
off can cause you or others to be burned. The air
cleaner filter not only cleans the intake air, it
also stops flame if the engine backfires. If the air
cleaner filter is not installed and the engine
backfires, you could be burned. Never drive with
the air cleaner filter off. Be cautious working on
the engine when the air cleaner filter is off.

winds\bie\fd was\ber or if t\be wiper b\fades c\batter w\ben
operating t\be winds\bie\fd wipers, wax or ot\ber materia\fs
may be on t\be winds\bie\fd and/or wiper b\fades.
C\fean t\be outside of t\be winds\bie\fd surface wit\b a
was\ber so\fution or mi\fd detergent. Your winds\bie\fd is
c\fean if beads do not form w\ben rinsing wit\b water.
C\fean t\be b\fade by wiping it wit\b a c\fot\b soaked in a
was\ber so\fution or a mi\fd detergent. Rinse t\be b\fade
wit\b water. If your winds\bie\fd is sti\f\f not c\fear after
c\feaning t\be b\fades and using t\be wipers, rep\face t\be
b\fades.
