4. Pull out the filter and rotate it asshown in the illustration to remove.
Inspect the filter on the surface.
If it is dirty, it should be replaced.

When inserting the filter in the filter
outlet, keep the arrow pointing up and
insert the filter as shown in the illustra-
tion above.
INFORMATION
The air filter should be installed prop-
erly in position. The use of air condi-
tioning with the air filter removed
may cause deteriorated dustproof per-
formance and than affect air condi-
tioning performance.

To reset the hour: Push the “H” button.
To reset the minutes: Push the “M” button.
If quick adjustment to a full hour is de-
sired, push the “:00” button.
For example, if the “:00” button is de-
pressed when the time is between
1:01—1:29, the time will change to 1:00.
If the time is between 1:30—1:59, the time
will change to 2:00.
If the electrical power source has been
disconnected from the clock, the time dis-
play will automatically be set to 1:00.
Power outlet
The power outlet is designed for power
supply for car accessories. To use it,
open as shown.
The engine switch must be in the “ACC”
or “ON” position for the power outlet to be
used.
NOTICE
To prevent the fuse from being
blown, do not use electricity over
the total vehicle capacity of
12V/120W.
 To prevent the battery from being
discharged, do not use the power
outlet longer than necessary when
the engine is not running.
 Close the power outlet lid when the
power outlet is not in use. Inserting
anything other than an appropriate
plug that fits the outlet, or allowing
any liquid to get into the outlet may
cause electrical failure or short cir-
cuits.

Steering switches are installed on the left
side of the steering wheel.
You can use these switches to operate
the audio volume control, radio, CD player
and so on.
For more detailed information, see the
separate “SCION Audio System Owner ’s
Manual” or “SCION Navigation System
Owner ’s Manual”.
CAUTION
Operate the switches with due care
while you are driving to avoid acci-
dents.
USB and AUX ports are located as

By connecting a USB
−compatible portable
audio device or USB memory to the USB
port, you can listen to music from the
portable audio device or USB memory
through the vehicle’s speaker system.
AUX port:
By inserting a mini plug into the AUX port,
you can listen to music from a portable
audio device through the vehicle’s speaker
system.
If you install an audio system other than
a genuine audio system, you will not be
able to use the USB port or AUX port.

CAUTION
When using the USB port or AUX
port, observe the following instruc-
tions. Failure to do so could result in
accident or injury.
Take care that the portable audio
device or cords do not hinder ve-
hicle operation.
Do not adjust the audio device
while driving.
Storage precautions
CAUTION
Do not leave glasses, lighters or
spray cans in the storage spaces, as
this may cause the following when
cabin temperature becomes high:
Glasses may be deformed by heat
or cracked if they come into con-
tact with other stored items.
Lighters or spray cans may ex-
plode. If they come into contact
with other stored items, the lighter
may catch fire or the spray can
may release gas, causing a fire ha-
zard.

The cup holder is designed for holding
cups or drinkcans securely in its
holes.
CAUTION
Do not place anything else other
than cups or drinkcans in the cup
holder, as such items may be
thrown about in the compartment
and possibly injure people in the
vehicle during sudden braking or in
an accident. If possible, cover hot
drinks to prevent burns.
Type A only—To reduce the chance
of injury in case of an accident or
a sudden stop while driving, keep
the cup holder closed when it is not
in use.

The bottle holders are designed to hold
bottles securely.
CAUTION
Do not attempt to use the holders for
purposes other than which they were
intended. Inappropriately sized or
shaped objects may be thrown about
in the compartment and possibly in-
jure people in the vehicle during a
sudden braking or an accident.
NOTICE
When using a bottle holder, put a cap
on the bottle. Otherwise, the liquid
will spill over when opening or clos-
ing the door.
To secure your luggage, use the tie
down hooks and the anchor brackets as
shown above.
See “Cargo and luggage” on page 192 for
precautions when loading luggage.
CAUTION
To avoid personal injury, keep the tie
down hooks retracted when not in
use.
To use the luggage storage box, open
it as shown above.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or a sudden stop,
always keep the luggage storage box
closed and locked while driving.

Floor mat
Use only floor mats designed specifical-
ly for vehicles of the same model and
model year as your vehicle. Fix them
securely in place onto the carpet.
Fix the floor mat in place using the retain-
ing hooks (clips) provided.
The shape of the retaining hooks (clips)
and the fixing procedure of the floor mat
for your vehicle may differ from those
shown in the illustration. For details, refer
to the floor mat retention clip installation
instructions supplied with the clips.CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause the driv-
er’s floor mat to slip, possibly inter-
fering with the pedals while driving.
An unexpectedly high speed may re-
sult or it may become difficult to
stop the vehicle, leading to a serious
accident.
When installing the driver’s floor mat:
Do not use floor mats designed for
other models or different model
year vehicles, even if they are
Scion Genuine floor mats.
Only use floor mats designed for
the driver ’s seat.
Always install the floor mat secure-
ly using the retaining hooks (clips)
provided.
Do not use two or more floor mats
on top of each other.
Do not place the floor mat bottom
side up or upsidedown.
Before driving:
Check that the floor mat is securely
fixed in the right place with all the
provided retaining hooks (clips). Be
especially careful to perform this
check after cleaning the floor.
With the engine stopped and the
shift lever in P (automatic transmis-
sion) or N (manual transmission),
fully depress each pedal to the
floor to make sure it does not inter-
fere with the floor mat.
