• Read the operating instructions at the charging
station to charge the battery.

temperature range of-13 °F (-25 °C) to 95 °F
(+35 °C). Note the following information:
- Protect the charg ing system against any
strain, such as being run over, falling, pull­
ing, bend ing and crushing.

Power save mode is automatically switched on
when the control unit has not been operated for
more than one minute. The

The length of the charg ing process using the Audi
e-tron charging system can vary based on the fol­
lowing factors:
- Sockets be ing used (household or industrial
sockets).
- System voltage and current strength specific to
a country.
- The value set for the charg ing power level on
the control unit (SO% or 100%) .
- Fluctuations in the system voltage .
- Temperature outside the vehicle.
- Temperature of the high-voltage battery .
- Adjustments to the climate control inside the
vehicle.
- Current capacity of the charging connector.

Audi e-tron charging system PIN
Applies to vehicles: with plug-in hyb rid drive
The control unit can be locked by entering a 4 -
digit PIN of your choice. If a PIN is activated, the
selected PIN must be entered before every use.
We recommend locking your control unit to pro­
tect it aga inst unauthorized access by a third par­
ty.

Vehicle charging
connector emergency
release
Applies to vehicles: with plug -in hybrid drive
There could be a malfunction if you are not able
to pull the vehicle charging connector out of the
vehicle charging port. You must use the emer­
gency release to release the vehicle charging con­
nector.
Requirement: the se lector lever must be in the P
position, the vehicle must be unlocked and the
charging process must have been ended or inter­
rupted.

Description

Your vehicle has either auxiliary heating or auxili­
ary heat ing/ air conditioning*.
The auxiliary heating or the auxi liary heating/ air
conditioning* switches on depending on the out­
side temperature and the temperature set on the
climate control unit .

Setting the timer

· Auxiliary climate control
Applies to vehicles: with plug-in hybrid drive without auxiliary
hea ting
The aux iliary climate control controls the tem­
perature in the vehicle inter ior ent irely with elec­
tric power. It turns on only if the high-voltage
battery charge level is sufficient and there is
enough fuel in the tank.
Auxiliary heating / air conditioning
Applies to vehicles: with plug-in hybrid drive and auxiliary
heat ing
The aux iliary heating/ air conditioning controls
the temperature in the vehicle interior if the
high-voltage battery charge level is suff icient and
there is eno ugh fuel in the tank.
The
.ill. symbo l blinks in the climate contro l unit
whe n auxiliary heating is switched on.
When the auxiliary heating/ air conditioning t im­
er is programmed, the Ill symbol stays turned on
until the departure t ime is reached.
& WARNING
- To reduce the risk of poisoning, the auxiliary
heating/ air conditioning must not run in
confined spaces .
- To redu ce the risk of fires, the auxiliary
heating/ air conditioning must not run
when refueling.
- Due to the high temperatures that result
from operating the auxiliary heating/ air
conditioning, the vehicle must be parked in
a way so that the hot exhaust can escape at
the bottom of the engine cover without ob­
struction. The exhaust must not come into
direct contact with highly flammab le mate­
r ials.
(D Tips
Water vapor can build up near the engine
compartment when outside temperatures are low. This is a natural phenomenon and is no
cause for concern.

-You can set the timer a maximum of 7 days
in advance.
- You can operate the climate control in the
vehicle interior when the high-voltage bat­
tery is charging using the charging timer

-Make sure the time and date match in the
MMI settings so that the timer can function
properly. Refer to the MMI Operating Man­
ual for setting the date and time.
- The auxiliary heating or auxiliary heating/
air conditioning* can run longer after the
departure time is reached.

The Dr iver Information System collects data un­
der certain conditions and sends it to a server.
When data is stored, you can data such as the ex­
amples listed below using the Audi connect e­
tron services:
- Duration of the drive in hours and minutes,
- average speed driven in mph (km/h),
- distance driven in miles (km),
- average electric consumption .
For additional information on the Driver Informa­
tion System, refer to

Doors and lights

You can access and display the current status of
the following vehicle data on your mobile devices
without having to be inside the vehicle.
- If the vehicle doors and lids are open/closed,
- If the parking l ights are on/off.

-If the high-voltage battery is not charged,
the amount of access requests is limited to
15 after switching off the ignition. This
helps conserve the 12 volt vehicle battery.

A WARNING
Do not be misled by the status report displays
by ignor ing messages and/or illuminated
warning and indicator lights in the vehicle.
This could lead to break downs in on the road,
accidents and serious injuries.
@ Tips
- If the high-voltage battery is not charged,
the amount of access requests is limited to
15 after switching off the ignition. This
helps conserve the 12 volt vehicle battery.
You cannot control functions or access in­
formation if the charge level of the 12 volt
vehicle battery is too low.
- If at least two minutes have passed after
the last time the ign ition was switched off,
you can reset the access counter back to "0"

Vehicle position

The vehicle collects data under certa in conditions
and sends it to a server.
When data is stored, you can data such as the ex­
amples listed below using the Audi connect e­
tron services:
- Vehicle location display

-Display of one's own location
- Route to your vehicle
If your mob ile dev ice also has a navigation func­
tion, you can nav igate to your last known parking
location .
For example, you have the option to show the
route to your vehicle and to send the correspond­
i ng locations.
(D Tips
- The new parking locat ion cannot be deter­
m ined with this service if the vehicle is
moved after shutting the vehicle off and
w ithout switching the ignition on and off
again, for example when being towed or if
the vehicle is stolen .
-If the vehicle is moved and shut off again
using the second key, for example, the new
park position is transmitted to the

ter removing the key.
Charging

You can contro l and access the high-voltage bat­
tery ch arging process remotely using these

- check the battery charge level,
- start/end the charging process,
- program the charging t imer with/without cl i-
mate control,
- deactivate/activate the charging timer.

A WARNING
Only perform charging functions on the high­
voltage battery if the vehicle is shut off cor­
rectly, is connected to a suitable socket and if
the ignition is switched off.

cause there is a malfunction (for example, the
battery charge level may be too low).

The system cannot guarantee that it wi ll detect

sors have been d isp laced or are faulty. Have the
system checked by an authorized Audi dea ler or
authorized Audi Service Facility soon.
Audi drive select (drive settings)
Introduction
Applies to vehicles: with Audi drive select
Audi drive select makes it possible to experience
different types of vehicle settings in one vehicle .
The driver can select from three
C omfort , Auto
and Dynamic modes using the r.1:a button in the
center console or the MMI to switch between a
sporty and a comfortable dr iving mode, for ex­
ample . In the
In div idual * mode, the vehicle set ­
tings can be adjusted to your personal preferen­
ces. This makes it possible to combine settings
such as a sporty eng ine set ting with smooth
s teer ing .
A WARNING
Using Audi drive select incorrectly can lead to
collisions, othe r accidents and serious inju­
ries .

Applies to vehicles: with Audi drive select
The vehicle setup in each mode depends on the
vehicle's features. However, the eng ine and
steering are a lways affected.
Engine and automatic tr ansmiss ion
Depend ing on the mode, the engine and auto­
matic transmission* respond more qu ickly or in a
more ba lanced manner to acce lerato r pedal
movements.
Adaptive damper s (Audi magnetic ride )*
The adaptive dampers use sensors to record in­
formation regarding steering movements, brak­
i ng and acce le ration operations by the dr iver,
r oad su rface, driving speed, and load. W it h Aud i
drive select you can adjust the adaptive dampers
spo rty (dynamic), comfortable (comfort) or ba l­
anced (auto).
Steering
The steering adapts in terms of steering ass is­
tance. There are d ifferent modes
c;;:> page 149.
Ind irect steering that moves easi ly as in comfort
mode is especia lly suited to long drives on a high ­
way. The dynamic mode provides sporty, direct
steering .
For vehicles with progress ive steering* the steer­
ing performance is more agi le .
Corn ering light *
The cornering light adjusts when driv ing on
cu rves at speeds between 6 mph (10 km/h) and
68 mp h (110 km/h). The pivoting act ion and the
li gh ting are also adapted to the mode.
Adaptive cruise control*
The behavio r whe n accelerating can be adjusted
from comfortable to sporty, depending on the
Audi drive select mode. Adaptive cr uise control
also responds to the dr iving beh avior of the vehi­
cle ahead in a more conservative or sporty man-
ner .
