only the front door whose handle you pull will
un lock . If you pr ess the ~ button twic e, the en ­
tire veh icle w ill unlock. If you press the~ button,
the entire vehicle w ill always lo ck.

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
your vehicle.
A microch ip in the key automat ically deactivates
the electronic immob ilizer when the key is locat­
ed in the vehicle. If yo u remove the key from the
ve hicle, the electro nic immobilize r activates
again a utomat ica lly.

A lways take the key w ith you whenever you
leave your veh icle. The electronic immobilizer
can be deactivated with the key, so this could make it possible for unauthorized persons to
start the engine and operate vehi cle systems
such as the power windows or sun roof. This
can increase the ris k of serious injury .
(D Tips
-The veh icle cannot be started if an unau­
tho rized key is used. It may not be possib le
to start the veh icle unde r ce rtain c ircum­
stances, for examp le if there is ano ther ra­
dio module like the key from another vehi ­
cle or a transponder on the same keychai n.

Safety central locking
App lies to vehicles : wit h safety cent ra l locking
Sa fety central locking provides the possib ility , to
only un lock the dr iver 's door and the fuel filler
door . The rest of the vehicle remains locked .

- When locking the vehicle from outside, the
ve hicle must be unoccup ied si nce the win­
dows can no longe r be o pened in an emer­
gency.
@ Tips
A fter tu rning the ignition off you can st ill
open and close the windows for approximate­
ly 10 seconds. The power windows are not
sw itched off unti l the drive r's doo r or front
passe nger 's doo r has been opened.
Convenience opening /closing
Wi th the convenience ope ning/closing func tion,
yo u ca n cen tral ly and easily open the windows
and the panorama sun roof * from the outs ide.
Convenience opening

To enable convenience opening of the w indows
and the roof*, the
front wind ow , rea r wind ow *
and roof * functions must be switched on.
A WARNING
-Never close the windows or panorama sun­
roof* careless ly or in an uncontrolled man­
ner, because this increases the risk of injury .
- For security reasons, the windows can only
be opened with the remote control key at a
maximum d istance of approximately 6 feet
(2 mete rs) from the vehicle.
- Pay attention when using the lock cylinder
to close the windows and the panorama
s u nroof* so that no one is pinched. Closing
stops when the key is moved into the start­
ing position .
Correcting power window malfunctions
-
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the one­
touch up and down feature must be activated
again.
.. Pull the power window sw itch until the w indow
is comp letely raised.
... Release the sw itch and pull it agai n for at least
one second.
Panorama roof

The button has two stages . In the second stage,
the roof automatically runs to the end position
(open/closed) when the button is operated brief­
ly. The movement can be stopped by pressing the
button.
@ Tilting and sliding
.. To tilt the sunroof completely, press the switch
briefly to the second level.
.. To close the roof completely, pull the button
down briefly to the second level or s lide the
button forward briefly to the second level

.. To select an intermediate position, press/pu ll
the switch in the first level until the desired po­
sition is reached .
@ Opening and closing
.. To open the sunroof completely, slide the but­
ton back to just befo re the second level.

A wind def lector integrated in the panorama sun­
roof adapts automatically to the sunroof posi­
tion. Th is reduces wind noise to a minimum in all
panorama s unroof positions.
You can sti ll operate the panorama sunroof for
about 10 minutes after the ignit ion is switched
off. The switch is deactivated once the driver's or
front passenger's door is opened.
Sun blind
The sun shade can be opened and closed manual­
l y, depending on the position of the panorama
sunroof. The sun s hade can be opened partially.
A WARNING
Be caref ul when closing the panoramic sun­
roof - otherwise serious injury could result! Al­
ways take the ignition key with you when leav-

-Applies to vehicles without power folding
outside mirrors : if the mirror housing was
moved by outside forces (such as an impact
when maneuvering), you must
move it back
in p lace by hand.
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exterior m irrors in
to reduce the risk of damage to the mirrors. Never fold power folding exterior m irrors*
by hand . Only fo ld them in and out using
the power controls.
(D Tips
If the power adjustment fails, both mirrors
can be adjusted by hand by pressing on the
edge of the mirror surface.
Dimm ing th e mirrors
Your vehicle is equipped with a manual or auto­
matic* dimming rearview mirror.

~ Press the b utton @. The indicator light @
tu rns on. The rearview and driver's exterior*
mirrors dim automatically when light shines on
them, for example from headlights on a vehicle
to the rear .
A WARNING 1=
Electrolyte fluid can leak from automatic dim-
ming mirrors if the g lass is broken. Electro­
lyte f luid can irritate skin, eyes and airways .
Lights and Vision
-Repeated or long-term exposure to e lectro­
lyte flu id can lead to irritation of the air­
ways, especially in people with asthma or other respiratory conditions. Take deep
breaths immediately after leav ing the vehi­
cle or, if this is not poss ible, open all of the
doors and windows as wide as possib le.
- If electro lyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of clean water fo r at least 15 minu tes and then
seek med ica l attention.
- If electro lyte fluid comes into contact wi th
the s kin, f lush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and then clean
with soap and wate r and seek medical at­
tention. Clean affected clothing and shoes
thorough ly before wearing again .
- If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscio us, flush the mo uth wit h water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomit ing
un less this is recommended by medical pro­
fessionals. Seek medical attention immedi­
ately.
(D Note
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, electro lyte can leak out. This liquid
damages plastic surfaces. C lean this liquid as
quick ly as possible w it h a wet sponge .
@ Tips
-If the light reaching the rearview mirror is
obstructed, the automatic dimming mirror
w ill not function correctly,
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the inte rior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected.

In vehicles with a light/ra in sensor*, the wipers
turn o n when it is ra ining, whe n the vehicle is s ta ­
tiona ry and the leve r is tapped in the ® position,
o r once the vehicle speed exceeds app roximate ly
2 mph (4 km/h) . The higher the sensit ivity of the
rain sensor is set (switch @to the r ight), the ear­
li er the windsh ie ld wipers react to moisture on
the windshie ld.

tion longer, the wipers switch from slow wiping
to fast wiping.
® -clean the windshield To e liminate water
droplets afte r switching the winds hield wipe rs
off while dr iv ing, they will operate one more time
severa l seco nds afte r switching them off if t he
temperat ure is above app rox ima tely 39 ° F (4 °C) .
You can swi tch th is func tion off by mov ing the
l ever to posit ion ® within 10 seconds o f the af ­
te rwipe. The afterwipe function is reactivated the
next t ime yo u sw itch the ignition on.
Cl eaning the headlig hts*. The headlight was he r
system * operates only when the low beam head ­
li ghts are on .
If you move the lever in position @,
the headlights will be cleaned in fixed interva ls .
Applies to vehicles wi th rear window w iper:
The rear wiper automa tica lly switches on when
the reverse gea r is engaged and the front wi nd­
shield wipers are on and in ope ra t ion.

- The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
driver . The dr iver is still responsible for
manually switching the w ipers on accord ing
to the v is ibility conditions .
- The windshield may not be treated with wa­ ter-repell ing windsh ield coating agents . Un­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­
ness , or when the su n is low , can cause a
st rong glare, w hich increases t he risk of an
accident. W iper blade chatte r is a lso possi ­
ble.
- Properly f unction ing windsh ield wiper
blades are required fo r a clear view and safe

-If there is frost, make sure t he windshie ld
wiper blades are not frozen to the wind ­
shield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­
shield can damage the wiper blades.
- The windshield wiper system must be
switched off ( lever in pos ition 0) before us­
i ng a car wash . This prevents unintentional
switching on and damage to the w indshield
wipe r system .
- Do not use the wipers to remove ice from
the windows . Us ing windsh ield wipers as ice
scrapers destroys the wiper blades .

-The windshield wipers switch off when the
i gnition is turned off. You can activate the
windsh ield wipers after the ign it ion is
switched back on by moving the winds hield

Light s and Vision

traffic light, the speed of the windshield
w ipers automatica lly reduces by one level.
- In vehicles with an MMI, yo u can switch the
rain sensor on or off in the
Dri ver assi stance
menu.
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the w ipe r blades when you see w iper
streaks . Use a soft cloth and a g lass cleaner .

er system, a lways loosen wiper blades that
have frozen to the w indshield before turn­

other components, do not try to move the

- C ommercial hot wax s uch a s the types used
by car washes make it more diffic ult to

amp le, if you want to protect the winds hield
from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service posit ion
when the hood is open .

Warm and cold
Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
Different systems could be installed.
- manual climate control system* or
- automatic climate control system*
- Plug-in hybrid drive* climate control

The climate control system* cools and removes
humidity from the air in the vehicle interior. It is
the most effective when the windows and panor­
ama sunroof* are closed.
If there is a build-up of
heat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help to
speed up the cooling process. For this reason, the
windows and panorama sunroof can be opened from the outside .

Pollutant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air .
Key recognition
You can store various settings for the manual and
automatic
climate control system* and assign
them to the key being used.
A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents.
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog.
- Become familiar as quickly as possible with
the correct use and function of the cl imate
control system, especially with the defrost­
ing and defogg ing function.
- When the temperature is below freezing,
only use the windshield washer system after
70
the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could
freeze on the windshield and impair visibili­
ty.
Cl) Note
- If you suspect that the climate control sys­
tem is damaged, switch the system off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Audi Service Facility.
- Repairs to the Audi climate control system
require special technical knowledge and
special tools. See an authorized Aud i dealer
or authorized Aud i Service Facility .
@ For the sake of the environment
Reducing the amount of fuel used also re­
duces the amount of pollutants that enter the
air.
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heating
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
front of the windshie ld must be free of ice,
snow or leaves.
- Condensation from the cooling system* can
dr ip and form a puddle of water unde r the
vehicle. This is norma l and does not mean
there is a leak.
- Th e energy management system may switch
the seat heating* or rear window defroster
off temporarily. These systems are available
again as soon as the energy supply has been
restored.
- The f lows through the vents under the rear
window. Make sure the openings are not
covered when placing clothing on the lug­
gage compartment cover .

Climate control system controls
Applies to vehicles: with manual climate control system

The functions are controlled using three dials and
buttons . The LED in a button will light up when
the function is switched on.

Manual climate control system*
For a comfortable temperature, we recommend :
- in warmer times of the year, set the tempera-
ture so that it is only a few degrees below the
outside temperature .
- set the blower at a moderate speed
- don't direct the air flow directly on the passen- gers
IA/C l Switching the cooling mode* on and off
The cooling mode only functions with the blower
turned on . The air is not cooled and humidity is
not removed when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the windows. The cooling
mode switches off automatically when there are
cold outside temperatures.
~ Adjusting the blower
To prevent the windows from fogging over, the b lower should a lways run at a low speed. When
the w indows are fogged, we recommend using a
