Driver information system
-Long-term memory (on-board computer 2)
- Efficiency program
The follow ing information can be displayed con­
secutively in the on-board computer:
- Time
- Date
- Estimated range based on current fue l level
- Travel time
- Average consumpt ion
- Average speed
- Distance
- Current fuel consumption
On-board computer
O (short-term memory)
The short-term memory collects driving informa­ tion from the time the ignition is switched on un­
til it is switched off. If you continue driving
with­
in two hours
after switching the ignition off, the
new values are included when calculating the cur­
rent tr ip informat ion. If stopped for more the
two hours, the short term memory is automati­
cally erased once you begin driving.
On-board computer
fl (long-term memory)
Unlike the short-term memory, the long-term
memory is not erased automatically. You can se­
lect the time period for evaluating trip informa­
tion yourself .
Efficiency program

The efficiency program can help you to use less
fuel

- For information on using the other button

- Disconnecting the battery causes all the
memory data to be erased.

When locking the vehicle with the centra l locking
switch, the follow ing applies :
- Open ing the door and the l uggage compart­
ment lid from the
outside is not possible (for
security such as when stopped at a light) .
- The LED in the central locking switch turns on
when all doors are closed and locked.
- You can open the doors individually from the
inside by pull ing the door handle.
- In the event of a crash with a irbag dep loyment,
the doors un lock automatically to a llow access
to the vehicle.
A WARNING
- The power locking sw itch works w ith the ig­
nition off a nd automatically locks the entire
vehicle wh en the@! button is p ressed.
- The centra l locking switch is inoperative
when the veh icle is locked from the o utside.
- Locked doors make it mo re difficult fo r
eme rgency wor kers to get into the vehicle,
wh ich puts l ives at risk . D o not leave anyone
be hin d in th e veh icl e, especially children .

Open ing and closing
Setting central locking
In the MMI, you can set which functions are con­
trolled by the central locking system .

Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
your v ehicle .
A microchip in the key automatically deactivates
th e e lectron ic immobilizer when the key is locat­
ed in the veh icle. If you remove the key from the
vehicle, the elec tronic im m ob ilizer act iva tes
again au tomatically .
A WARNING
Alw ay s t ake t he key w ith y ou whe never y ou
l e ave y our veh icle. The elec tron ic immo bili zer
c an be deactiv ated wit h th e key, so this c ould
make it possible fo r unauthorized persons to
start the engine an d operate veh icle systems
such as the powe r windows or sunroof. This
can increase the risk of se rious injury.

To enable convenience opening of the windows,
the
Front wi ndows and Rea r windo ws functions
must be switched

A WARNING
- Never close the windows careless ly or in an
uncontrolled manner, because this increas­
es the r isk of injury.
- For security reasons, the windows can only
be opened w ith the remote control key at a
maximum distance of approximately 6 feet
(2 mete rs) from the vehicle .
- Always watch the windows while they are
closing using the lock cylinder so that no
one is pinched in the w indow . Closing stops
when the key is moved into the start ing po­
sit ion.
Correcting power window malfunctions
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the one­
touch up and down feature must be activated
again.
~ Pull the power window sw itch until the w indow
is comp lete ly ra ised.
~ Release the switch and pull it aga in for at least
one second.

top storage compartment cannot be raised when
the powe r top is open. Because of this, the cargo

area in the luggage compartment is smaller
when the powe r top is open than when it is
closed.

Soft top: please close trunk lid
This message appears in the instrume nt cluster
display if the luggage compa rtment is not closed
when the power top is operated . Close the lug­
gage compartment lid.

This message appears if the power top stor age

If the power top is operated continua lly for a
l ong period of time, the overload protection acti­
vates for approx imately 15 to 30 minutes. You
can ope n or close the power top again after that.

power top again after starting the engine .

Never drive when the power top is not locked
correctly. The w ind from driving cou ld cause
the power top to open. This can result in inju­

Wind deflector
A ppl ies to: ve hicles with wind defl ecto r
The wind deflector reduces air movement in the
passenger comportment in order to make driving more comfortable.

The wind deflector is located in the luggage com­
partment in a storage bag*.
Inserting and positioning the wind deflector
.,. Open the rear window on the passenger's side.
.,. Remove the wind deflector from the luggage
compartment and fold it apart once . The w ind
deflector is installed in the correct position
when the long side is toward the front and the
w ind deflec tor frame is at the top.
.,. Insert both pins on the wind deflector

.. Fold the handle @upward and lift the center
of the wind deflector slightly @ c>

.,. Now guide the wind deflector into the mounts

wheel wrench into the opening .

er, avoid contact with the supports or other moving parts. Otherwise you could pinch your
hands.

Removing th e head restraints
To remove the head restrai nts, the backrest m ust
be folded forward partially.
• Remove the screwd river from the vehicle tool

restraint up as far as it can go¢&_ .
• Place the screwdriver in position @ in the
opening, press the button @ and pull the head
restra int out of the backrest at the same time

Inst alling the head rest raints
To install the head restraints, the backrest must
be folded forward partially.
• Release the backrest ¢

• Slide the posts on the head restraint down into
the gu ides until you feel the posts click into
place . You should not be able to pull the head
restra int out of the backrest.
• Fo ld the backrest down until it latches securely
¢ & in Increasing the size of the luggage

A WARNING
- Only remove the rear seat head rest raints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat . Insta ll the head restra int aga in imme ­
diately once the ch ild seat is removed. Driv­
ing with the head restra ints removed or
head restraints not in the highest position
increases the risk of serio us in ju ry.

The 12 volt socket can be used for electr ical ac­
cessor ies. The power consumption at the out let
must not exceed 120 watts.
A WARNING
The socket works on ly when t he ignit ion is
switched on. Incorrect usage can lead to ser i­
ous injuries or burns. To reduce the risk o f in­
ju ries, never leave children unatte nded in the
vehicle with the vehicle key .

-Never connect devices that generate elect ri­
ca l power such as solar panels or a battery
charger to the 12 volt socket . They can dam­
age the vehicle electrical system.

Your veh icle has cup holders in the front center
console, in the door pockets and in the rear cen ­
ter armrest* .
A WARNING
-
-Do not p ut any hot beverages in the cup
holder while the vehicle is moving . Ho t bev­
erages could spill, wh ich can cause injury.
- Do not use any breakable beverage cont ain­
ers ( for example, m ade out of glass or po r­
celain). You cou ld be injured by them in the
event of an accident.
(D Note
Beverage containers in the cup holders should
always have a lid. Otherwise, beverages could
spill and cause damage to veh icle equipment
or stain the seat cove rs.

Opening /closing
• To open the glove compartment, pull the han­
dle in the d irection of the arrow .
"' To close the glove compartment, swing the lid
upward until it clicks into place .
The glove compartment can be locked using the
vehicle key.
A WARNING
-Always leave the lid on the glove compart- ment cover closed while dr iving to reduce the
r isk of injury.
Additional storage compartments
T he re are add itiona l storage compartmen ts,
compartments and holders at other locations in
the vehicle:
- In the uppe r part of the glove compartment.
- In the center console under the center arm -
rest* .
- On the back of the right front seat. The com ­
partment* can hold a maximum we ight of
2 lbs
(1 kg) .
A WARNING
-Do not place any objects on the instrument
panel. Objects that are not stored secu rely
can slide around in the vehicle while driving,
when accele rating or braking or when turn­
i n g .
- Make sure that objects cannot fa ll out of the
center console storage compartment or oth-
er compartments and into the footwell
