Trailer hitch
Applies to: vehicles with a rear parking system/parking sys­
tem plus/rearview camera/peripheral cameras and trailer hitch
When the trailer soc ket is in use, th e parking sys­
tem rear sensors are not act ivated when you sh ift
i nto reverse gear or when you press the p,,1, but­
ton . Th is resu lts in the following restrict ions .
Rear parking system*
There is no distance warning.
Park ing system plus*
There is no distan ce warn ing for the rear. The
front senso rs remain activated. The visu al display
switches to trailer mode . ..,.

Emphasize the words in the commands evenly
and do not leave long pauses.
Do no t spea k a command when the vo ice re cogni­
tio n sys tem is making an announcemen t.
Close the doo rs , the w indows and the sun roof* to
r ed uce background no ise. Ma ke sure that passen­
gers are not speaking w hen you are giv ing a voice
command.
Do not d irect the air vents toward the hands free
microp hone, which is on the roof headliner near
the fron t inte rior lights.
Only use the system from the dr iver's seat be­
cause the hands free microphone is directed to­
ward that seat.

- Direct your full attention to dr iving . As the
d river, you have complete responsibility fo r
safety in t raff ic. Only use the functions in
s uch a way that you a lways m aintain com­
p lete co ntro l over your vehicle in all tra ffi c
situa tions .
- Do not use t he voice recognition sys tem in
emergencies beca use your voice may ch ange
i n st ressfu l situations . It may take longe r to
d ia l the number o r the system may not be
ab le to dia l it at all. Dia l th e emergency
number manually.
@ Tips
- T he d ialog pauses w hen the re is an incom ­
ing phone call and will continue if yo u ig­
nore the ca ll. The dia log ends if you answer
the ca ll.
- There are no Vo ice gu idance * prompts when
a dialog is active.
- You can select a n item in the list using ei­
ther the voice recognit io n system or the
control knob .

Emergency assistance
Trunk escape latch
In case of an emergency, the rear lid can be
opened from the inside using the trunk escape
latch.

• Push the latch in the direction of the arrow un­
t il the lock releases.
The trunk escape latch ins ide the rear lid is made
of fluorescent material to glow in the dark.

The trunk escape latch is to be used only in an
emergency .
@ Tips
The emergency release lever should never be
used as a handle fo r closing the luggage com­
par tment l id.
General information
• Park the vehicle as far as poss ible from moving
t raff ic in the event of a breakdown . In the event
of a flat tire , park the vehicle on a leve l surface .
It you are on a steep hill, be especially careful.
• Set the parking brake.
• Switch the emergency flashers on.
• Have the passengers exit the vehicle. They
should move to a safe place, for example be­
hind a guard rail.

Vehicle tool kit/vehicle jack

The vehicle tool kit, vehicle jack, tire mobility k it
and compressor are stored in the luggage com­
partment under the cargo floor cover.
• Lift the cargo floor using the p lastic handle and
hook the handle onto the luggage compart­
ment seal

• Vehicles with spare tire: turn the handle coun­
ter -clockwise and remove the spare tire .
"' Unhook the cargo floor before closing the rear
lid .
Depending on vehicle equipment, the vehicle tool
k it, tire mobility kit and compressor may be lo­
cated under another cover that is secured w ith a
handwheel.

The vehicle jack in your vehicle is mainte­
nance-free.
