Emergency closing of the panoramic
tilting sunroof
If the sunroof detects an object in its path
when it is closing , it will open again a utomati ­
cally. In this case, you can close the roof with
the power emergency closing function .
.. Within five seconds after the sunroof opens
automatically, pull the switch until the roof
closes .
Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the lug­
gage comportment from unau thorized ac­
cess .

When the function is switched on, the vehicle
can be driven, locked and unlocked us ing the

- The light sensor* for headlight control is
located in the rear view m irror mount.
You should therefore not apply any st ick­
ers to the windsh ield in this area in order
to prevent malfunctions or failures.
- Some exterior lighting functions can be
adjusted

- When you remove your key from the igni­
tion while the vehicle's lights are turned
on, a buzzer sounds as long as the driv­
er's door is open .
- In cool or damp weather, the ins ide of
the headlights, turn signals and tail lights can fog over due to the tempera­
ture difference between the inside and
outside. They will clea r shor tly after
switching them on. This does not affect
the service life of the lighting.
- In the even t of a light sensor malfunc­
tion, the driver is no tified in the instru­
ment cluster disp lay¢
page 22.
Turn signals and high beam lever
The lever operates the turn signals, the high
beams and the headlight flasher .

Travel mode*
The headlight beam is asymmetrical. This pro­
v ides stronger illum ination on the side of the
road on wh ich you are driving .
If you are driv­
i ng in a count ry that d rives on the opposite
side of the road from your own country, th is
will cau se glare for on coming dr ivers. To pre­
vent glare:
- Trave l mode must be selected in vehicles
with Xenon headlights*.
- In veh icles with halogen headlights, ce rtain
areas of the head light lenses must be cov­
ered w ith wate rproof adhesive covers that
prevent light from passing thro ugh. Fo r
more information, please see your author ­
ized Audi dea ler or author ized repa ir faci lity .

When trave l mode is activated, a display in
the dr iver information system indicates

The emergency flashers makes other moto­
rists aware that you or your vehicle are in an
emergency situation .

When the emergency flas hers are on, all four
turn signals b link at the same time. The turn

cluster, as well as the light in the emergency
flasher switch ~ blink likewise.
You can indicate a lane change or a t urn w hen
the emergency flashers are switched on by us­
ing the turn signal lever. The emergency flash­
ers stop temporarily.
T he emergency flashers also work when the
ignition is turned off.
T he emergency flashers wi ll turn on a utomat i­
ca lly if yo u are in an accident where the airbag
has deployed.

You sho uld turn on the emergency f las hers
when:
- yo u are the last veh icle standing in a t raf ­
fic jam so that any other vehi cles coming
can see you, or whe n
- your vehicle has bro ken down or you are
in an emergency s ituation, o r when
- yo ur vehicle is be ing towed by a tow
truck or if you are tow ing another vehicle
beh ind you.

If the switch is in the center position, the inte­
rior l ights turn on automatically when you un­
lock the vehicle, open a door or remove the ig­
n ition key. The interior lights turn off several
seconds after your close the doors , when you
lock the vehicle or when you turn the ign it ion
on. When a door is open, the light tu rns off
after a few minutes.
@ Front /rear r eading lights
To turn a reading light on/off, press the but­
ton~

The appearance and location of the rear read­
ing lights may differ depending on the model.
Instrument illumination
The basic brightness of the illumination for
the instruments, the center console and the
display can be adjusted .

(!') Tips
The instrument illumination (for dials and
needles) lights on when the ignition is
switc hed on and the vehicle lights are
turned off. As the daylight fades, the illu­
mination of the dia ls likewise dims auto­
matically and wi ll go out completely when
the ou tside light is very low. This feature is
meant to rem ind yo u to sw itch on the
headlights when ou tside light conditions
become poo r.

- Worn or dirty windshie ld wiper b lades
r es ult in streaking. This can affect the
rain sensor* function. Check your wind­
shield wiper b lades regularly.
- The was her fluid nozzles of the wind­
s h ield washer system are heated at low
temperatures when t he ignit ion is on.
- When stopping temporarily, (e .g . at a
traff ic light) the set speed of the wind­
shield wipers is automatically red uced by
one speed.
Replacing windshield wiper blades
Wiper blades in good condition help keep the
windshield clear.

-If the windshie ld wipers smea r the wind-
shie ld, clean the wiper b lades with wind­
shie ld washer fluid. If the wiper blades
are ext remely dirty, you can a lso clean
them with a soft sponge o r cloth.
- For your safety, you shou ld replace the
wiper blades once or twice a year. See
your author ized Audi dealer for replace­
men t blad es.

Otherw ise, you risk damag ing the pa int
on t he hood o r the windsh ie ld w iper mo­
to r.
- Yo u should not move your veh icle or
press the windsh ield wiper lever when
the wipe r arms are folded away from the
w indshield. The winds hield wipers wo uld
move back into their or iginal position
and co uld damage the hoo d and wind ­
shield.
- T o help preven t damage to the w iper sys­
t em, always loosen blades w hich are fro ­
zen to the windshield before operating
w ipers .
- To help prevent damage to wiper b lades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinne r, or other solvents on or near the
w iper blades.

The center armrest can be adjusted to several
levels.

Installing the head restraints
• Slide the posts on the head restra int down
into the guides until you feel the posts click
into place .

not be able to pull the head restra int o ut of
the backrest.

So that the driver can have a better view to
the rear, the head restraints should be pushed
down completely when the rear seats are not
occupied.

- Read and heed all WARNINGS

when necessary in order to install a child

straint again immediately once the child
seat is removed. Driving without head re­
straints or with head restraints that are
not properly adjusted increases the risk

- Vehicles with a pass through in the cen­
ter conso le have seating for four. The
long center conso le between the two
rear seats is
not a seating position .
Therefore, a safety belt is not provided.

Correctly adjusted head restraints and
safety be lts are an extreme ly effective
combination of safety features.
Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles : with memory fun ctio n
The memory function allows you to quickly
and easily store and recall personal seati ng
profiles for the driver. The memory function is
operated through the master key and the
memory buttons in the driver's door.
The driver's seating profile is stored and as­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked. The seating profile is recalled auto­
matically when the vehicle is unlocked.
If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master key.
Up to 2 seat profi les can be stored in the
memory buttons in the driver's door. Once

they are stored, these seat profiles can be
se lected at any time .
I n addition to the driver's seat settings, you
can also stor e and access the exterior mir ror
adj ustment settings* using the remote con­
trol key or memory button .
Remote control key
Applies to vehicles: with seat memo ry
To assign the driver 's seat settings to the re­
mote control key when locking the vehicle, the
function must be activated in the radio or

Switching the memory function on/off
.. Press the !ON/O FF I button to switch the
memory function on/off. The word

switched off . Seat profiles are not stored .
Storing a seat profile
.. Press the ISETI button. When the word SET
lights up, the memory is ready to store set­
tings .
.. Press a memory button

Accessing a seat profile
.. If the driver's door is open, press a memory

A WARNING

tionary -otherwise you risk having an ac­
cident.
- In an emergency the recall procedure ca n

tion of the arrow .
• Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and
automatically secures the beverage.
Clo sing cuphold ers
• To close the cupholder, press on the center
section between the two arms and push the
cupholder in the s lot as far as it will go.
A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal i njury .
-
-Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving. In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liqu id could spill,
causing sca ld ing bur ns. Sp illed hot liq uid
can also ca use an accident and persona l
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cuphol der. H ard
c u ps and g lasses can ca use in jury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupho lder or adapter as an
ashtray- risk of fire.
@ Note
On ly dr ink containe rs with lids should be
car ried in the cupho lde r. Liqu id could sp ill
out and damage your veh icle's e lectronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compar tment is illuminated and
can be locked.

• To open the g love compartment, pull the

glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages.

On the right side in the glove compartment is
a holder with the key body into which the
emergency key must be clipped to be able to
start the vehicle.
A WARNING
--To reduce the risk of pe rsonal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while d riving .
Additional storage
The re are a var iety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the veh icle.
- In the roof headliner above the rearv iew
m irror.
- On the back of the front seat . The compart­
ment can hold a maximum we ight of 1 kg .
- On the left and right of the luggage com­
partment, behind the side trim.
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of
the vehicle.
A WARNING
-- When driving, do not leave any hard ob -
jects on the rear w indow shelf o r allow
your pet to sit on the shelf. They co uld
become a hazard fo r vehicle occupants in
the event of sudden braking or a cr ash.
- Always remove objects from the instru­
men t panel. A ny item s not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle wh ile dr iv­
ing or when acce le rat ing or when app ly ­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter conso le or other storage locations

cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's v iew. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang any clothing w ith hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects cou ld injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle .
- To reduce the r isk of personal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and fo llow all WARN INGS
~ page 161, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision .
- T he coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause personal injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the
side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudde n stop.
- Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury in the event of
sudden braking maneuvers or a col lision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
aga inst the rear w indow cou ld damage the
heating wires for t he rear w indow defog­
ger.

-A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear w indow . Do not block the
vent with any items you may place on the
rear window she lf.
- Do not place bu lky items on the rear win­
dow shelf as they could restrict or block
the driver's vision in the rear view m irror.
Roof rack
Description and mounting location s
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

.,. Always read and follow the i nstructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when
installing the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the fo llowing:
- Yo ur vehicle has aerodynam ic rai n gutters
mo lded into the roof. This is why conven­
tional roof luggage racks cannot be used.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi orig inal accessories program.
- On ly use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the bas is
for a complete roof rack system. Addit ional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi orig inal accessories program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations
on the roof
