this key de
activated .
It is important to bring all keys with
you .
If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insu rance company.
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your vehicle in the Infotainment system . To do
this, select the
IM ENU I button > Vehicle > left

This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immob ilizer prevents unauthorized use of

Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
veh icle manufacturer on the key chain.

Data in the master key
When dr iving, service and maintenance-re levant
data is continuously stored in your remote con

this data and tell you about the work your vehicle needs . This applies also to vehicles with a con
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master
key . When the ign ition is turned off or when the
vehicle is locked, personal convenience settings
for the following systems are stored and as
s igned to the remote master key.
- Climate control system

The stored settings are automatically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or
turn on the ignition .
~ WARNING
Always take the vehicle key with you when
leaving the vehicle, even for a short period of
time. This applies particularly when children
rema in in the vehicle . Otherwise the children
could start the engine or operate electrical

Assistance systems
General information
Applies to: ve hicles w ith Aud i adapt ive cruise co ntro l
Fig. 112 Fro nt of th e ve hicle: senso rs an d video camera
The areas with the radar and ultrasonic sensors
and the video camera ¢
fig. 112 must not be cov
ered by stickers, deposits or any other objects ,
because this can interfere with the adaptive
cruise control function. For information on clean
ing, see
c::> page 362 . The same applies for any
modifications made in the front area .
In some driving situations , the adaptive cruise
control function is restricted :
-Vehicles can only be detected when they are
within the sensor detection zones
<:;> page 113,
fig. 111 .
-The system has a limited ability to detect
vehicles that are a short distance ahead, off to
the side of your vehicle or moving into your
lane.
-Objects that are difficu lt to detect such as mo
torcycles, vehicles with high ground clearance
or an overhanging load are detected late or not
detected at all.
-When driving through curves
c::>page 115 .
-When the vehicle is stationary <:;> page 115.
_& WARNING
Always pay attention to the traffic around you
when adaptive cruise control is switched on.
As the driver, you are still responsible for your
own speed and the distance to other vehicles.
The adaptive cruise control is used to assist
you. The driver must always take action to
avoid a collision. The driver is always responsi
ble for braking at the correct time.
114
-For safety reasons, do not use adaptive
cruise control when the road surface is in
poor condition and/or in bad weather condi
tions (such as ice, fog, gravel, heavy rain and
hydroplaning) . Using the system under
these conditions increases the risk of an ac
cident.
- Switch adaptive cruise control off tempora
rily when driving in turning lanes, on ex
pressway exits (except if predictive control
is switched on) or in construction zones.
This prevents the vehicle from accelerating
to the stored speed when in these situa
tions.
-The adaptive cruise control system will not
brake by itself if you put your foot on the ac
celerator pedal. Doing so can override the
speed and distance regulation.
-When approaching stationary obstacles
such as stopped traffic, adaptive cruise con
trol will respond with limited function .
- Adaptive cruise control does not respond to
people, animals, or crossing or oncoming
objects.
-The function of the radar sensors can be af
fected by reflective objects such as guard rails, the entrance to a tunnel, heavy rain or
ice .
(D Note
The sensors can be displaced by impacts or damage to the bumper, wheel housing and underbody. This can impair the adaptive
cruise control. Have an authorized Audi dealer
or authorized Audi Service Facility check their
funct ion.
@ Tips
For an explanation on conformity with the
FCC regulations in the United States and the
Industry Canada regulations, see
c::> page 392.

In curves
Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive cruise contro l
Fig. 113 Example: driving into a curve
When driving into a curve <=>fig. 113 and out of a
curve , the adaptive cruise control may react to a
vehicle in the neighboring lane and apply the
brakes. You can prevent that by pressing the ac
celerator pedal briefly.
Stationary vehicles
Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive cruise control
)))
Fig. 114 Example: vehicle changing lanes and stationary
vehicle
Within the limits of the system, adaptive cruise
control can react to stationary vehicles
c::> fig. 114, as long as you are driving slower than
30 mph (SO km/h) and the system classifies the possible passing maneuver as low. For example,
if a vehicle that was already detected
@ turns or
changes lanes, the adaptive cruise control reacts
to the stationary vehicle ahead of
it @ .
Assistance systems
Vehicles with manual transmission
Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive cruise control and
manual transmissio n
The adaptive cruise control is available from 1st
gear through 6th gear in the normal speed
range .
When the adaptive cruise control is turned on,
you must press the clutch to shift gears (as usu al). When shifting normally or when pressing the
clutch, the adaptive cruise control remains
turned on.
After you have engaged the gear, you do
not
need to press the gas pedal. The adaptive cruise
control accelerates automatically if necessary .
If you press down on the clutch for too long or
shift/couple improperly, the adaptive cruise con
trol may turn off automatically.
Switching on/off
Applies to: vehicles with Audi adaptive cruise control
Fig. 115 Ope rating leve r: switching on and off
Fig. 116 Ins trumen t cluster: adapt ive cr uise control
You can set any speed between 20 and 95 mph
(30 and 150 km/h).

Assistance systems
In a speed range under 40 mph (65 km/h), traffic
jam assist can help to keep the vehicle within a
lane calculated by the system. Within the limits
of the system, the system controls the steering
automatically when adaptive cruise control is
switched on . Since traffic jam assist is only an as
sist system, the driver must always keep his or
her hands on the steering wheel and be ready to
steer. The driver can override the control at any
time by actively steering.
The system is designed for driving on express
ways and highways.
Switching traffic jam assist on and off
.., Press the button to switch the system on and
off¢fig. 123.
.., To turn the system off completely, select in the
Infotainment system:
I M ENU I button > Vehicle

fic jam assist.
If traffic jam assist was deactivated through the
Infotainment system, you can cont inue operating
the active lane assist using the
c::> fig . 123 button
c::> page 131. T he traffic jam assist functions a re
no longer available.
Requirements for using traffic jam assist:
- Traffic jam assist must be switched on in the
Infota inment system.
- Adaptive cruise control must be switched on
and active
c;> page 115 .
Always switch off traffic jam assist in the
