We recommend that you practice park ing with
the rear v iew camera in a traffic-free locat ion
or parking lot to become familiar w ith the sys­
tem, the orientation l ines, and their funct ion .
When doing th is, there shou ld be good light
and weather conditions.
In the MMI display, objects or vehicles appear
closer or further away if:
- you are driving in reverse gear from a level surface onto an incline or a downward slope,
- you are driving in reverse gear toward pro­
truding objects,
- the vehicle is carrying too much load in the
rear.
The accuracy of the orientat ion lines and blue
surfaces diminishes if: -
the rear view camera does not provide a reli­
ab le image, for example, in poor visibility
conditions or if the lens is dirty,
- the image on the screen is not visib le due to
sun glare and reflection.
Caring for the rear view camera lens
T he rea r view camera is located above the rear
lic ense plate bracket. For the parking system
to operate, the lens

clean:
- Dampen the lens w ith a household alcohol­
based g lass cleaner, and then wipe the lens
clean with a dry cloth

-Remove snow with a hand br ush and ice
preferably with a de-ic ing spray

lens or if there is a defect .
- Use the rear view camera on ly with the
rear lid comp lete ly closed. Make sure any
objects you may have mounted on the
rear lid do not b lock the rear v iew cam­
era.

The following steps apply only when there is
no obstacle such as a wall near the parking
spot. Otherwise, please read the information
prov ided in the "Parking Next to Obstacles"
section

~ Activate the turn signal.
~ Position your vehicle parallel to the edge of
the street, approximately 3 ft (1 meter)
from a parked vehicle.
~ Switc h the MMI on and se lect reverse gear.

the MMI contro l conso le. Parking mode 2

~ Back up and align your vehicle so t he blue
area @ borders on the rear end of the vehi­
cle or on the parking spot line. The blue area
represents an extension of the vehicle's out­
line by approximate ly 16 ft (5 meters) to the
rear. The long side of the blue area should
be o n the curb . The entire blue area must fit
i nto the parking spot .
~ With the vehicle stopped, turn the steer ing
whee l to the right as far as it w ill go.
~ Back into the park ing spot until the blue
cu rve to uches the curb

Parking next to obstacles
When t here is an obstacle (such as a wall)
next to the pa rking spot, choose a spot wit h
mo re space on t he sides. Pos ition the long
side of the b lue a rea so that there is sufficient
space from the curb. The a rea m ust no t be on
the c urb. You w ill also need to start turn ing
the steering wheel much earlier. T he re should
be a suffic ient amo unt of space between the
curb and the blue c urve, and the blue cu rve
c::> fig. 125 must not touch the curb.

- Changed settings are activated when
parking system is switched on again.

There is an error in the system if the LED on
the ~ switch is blinking and you hear a con­
tinuous alarm for a few seconds after switch­ ing on the parking system or when the park­
i ng system is already act ivated. Have your au­
thor ized Audi dealer correct the e rror .
{D) Tips
If the error is not corrected before you
sw itch off the ignition, when you switch on
the par king system aga in, the LED in the
~ switch w ill blink.

Homelink®
Universal remote
control
General information
Applies to vehicles: with Horne Link® universal remote
control
The Homelink universal remote control can
be programmed with hand -held transmitters
from existing equipment.
Using the Homelink universal remote control,
you can operate equ ipment such as garage
doors, property gates and house lights from ins ide your vehicle.
Using the Homelink universal remote control,
you can replace up to three separate hand ­
held transmitters for equipment on your
property with just one universal remote con­
trol. Most of these transmitters a re used to
ope rate ga rage doo rs and p roperty gates. The
individua l transmitters are programmed at
the front bumper. That is where the control
module is located.
The transmitters must be programmed first in
order to operate systems using the Homelink universal remote control.
A WARNING
-
- Never use the Homelink ® transmitter
with any garage door opener that does have not the safety stop and reverse fea­
ture as required by federal safety stand­
ards . Th is includes any garage door open­
er model manufactured before April 1, 1982.
- A garage door opener which cannot de­
tect an object, signaling the door to stop
and reverse does not meet current feder­
al safety standards. Us ing a ga rage door
opener without these features increases
risk of serious injury or death.
- For safety reasons never release the
parking brake or start the engine while
anyone is standing in front of the vehicle .
- A garage door or an estate gate may
sometimes be set in motion when the

Homelink ® remote control is being pro­
grammed.
If the device is repeatedly ac­
tivated, t his can overstrain motor and
damage its electrical components - an
overheated motor is a fire hazard!
- To avo id possible injuries or property
damage, please always make absolutely
certain that no persons or objects are lo­
cated in the range of motion of any
equ ipment being operated.

The requ ired distan ce between the handheld

itial programming .

Individual buttons can be reprogrammed. Fol­
low the same steps used when first prog ram ­

If you would like to erase all programmed but­
tons at the same time, sele ct Erase button
