windshield wipers move into the service

Removing the wiper blade
• Fold the windshield wipe r arm away from
the windshie ld.
• Press the locking knob@<>

wiper blade . Hold the wiper blade f irm ly .
• Remove the wiper blade in the direction of
the arrow.
Installing the wiper blade
• Inse rt the new wiper b lade into the mo unt
on the w iper arm @ until you hear it latch
into place .
• Place the w ipe r arm back on the windshie ld .
• Switch the ignition on .
• Press the w indshield wiper lever.

A WARNING
- If the windshield wipe rs smear the wind­
shield, clean the w iper blades with w ind­
shield washe r fl uid . If the wiper blades
are extremely d irty, yo u can also clean
th em with a soft sponge or cloth.
- For yo ur safety, you should repla ce the
w ipe r blades o nce or twice a year. See
yo ur a uthori zed Au di dealer fo r repl ace­
me nt blades.
(D Note
- The w indshield wiper blades must on ly
b e fo lded away when in the se rv ice po si­
tion! Otherw ise, you risk d amaging the
p ain t on the hood or the windshield wip ­
er motor.
- You s hould not move yo ur vehicle or
press the windshie ld wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windsh ield. The w indshield w ipers would
move back into the ir original position
and could damage the hood and w ind­
s h ield .

- T o help p revent damage to the wiper sys ­
tem, always loosen blades wh ich are fro­
zen to the winds hield before operating
wipers.
- To hel p pr event damage to wiper b lades,
do not use gaso line, kerosene , paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near the
wiper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the w iper
arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move t he wipers by hand .

-Commercial hot waxes app lied by a uto­
matic car washes affect the cleanability
of the windshie ld.
- You can also use the service position, for
example, if you want to p rotect the
w indshield from icing by using a cover .
- You cannot activate the serv ice position
when the hood is ope n.

Adjusting the armrest
• To adjust the angle, raise the armrest from
the start ing position detent by detent.
• To bring the armrest back into its origina l
position, lift it above the top position and
then fold it back down.
Opening the storage compartment
• Press the button -arrow- upward.
Please note that the driver's arm movements
may be restricted w ith the armrest fo lded
down. For this reason, the armrest should not
be folded down when driving in c ity traffic.
Head restraints
Front head restraint s
Applies to vehicles : with adj ustable head restraints
Head restraints that are adjusted according
to body size, along with the seat belt, offer
effective protection.

Installing the head restraints
• Slide the posts on the head restraint down
into the guides until you feel the posts lock
into place .
• Press the button -ar row-

should not be able to pull the head restraint
out of the backrest .
So that the driver can have a better view to
the rea r, the head restraints shou ld be pushed
down completely when the rear seats are not
occupied.
& WARNING
- Only remove the rear seat head restraints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat. Install the head restraint again im­
med iately once the child seat is removed.
Driv ing without head restra ints or with
head restraints that are not properly ad­
justed increases the r isk of serious or fa­
tal neck injury dramatically .

Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: with memory function
The memory function allows you to quick ly
and easi ly store and recall personal seating profiles for
the driver and front passenger*.
The memory function is operated through the
master key and the memory buttons in the
driver's/front passenger's* doors.
T he driver's seating profile is stored and as ­
signed to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked . The seating profile is reca lled auto­
matically when the vehicle is unlocked. If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own" master key .
Two seating profiles can be stored in each of
the driver's/front passenger's* doors. Once
stored, these seating profiles can be recalled at any time.
The following sett ings are stored:

causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liqu id
can also cause an accident and personal
injury .
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause inju ry in an
acc ident .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray- risk of fire.
([) Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupho lder. Liqu id could spill
out and damage your veh icle's e lectronic
equ ipment or stain the upholste ry, etc.
Cooled glove compartment
Ap plies to vehicles: with coole d glove compa rtm ent
The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on.

functions when the vehicle A/C system is

If the heating is switched on,
switch ing the glove compartment cooling
mode off is recommended .

Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
men t cover close d while driving to reduce
t he risk of in jury.

maximum weight of 1 kg .

- Garment hooks on the sides of the pillars in
the rear of the vehicle and in the rear grab
handles
- Compartment in the rear center armrest
- Storage in the trim panels in the luggage
compartment

- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while dr iv­
ing or when acce le rat ing or whe n app ly­
ing the brakes o r when driving around a
corne r.
- When you are driving make su re that
anyth ing you may have placed in the cen­
t er conso le or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwe lls . I n case
of sudden braki ng you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Always keep the lid of the compartment
for (sun)glasses" closed wh ile driving to
reduce the risk of i njury during a su dden
braking maneuver or in the event of an
accident .
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's view. The coat hooks are des igned

- To prevent accidents, never install the
luggage compartment cover unsecured .
- The luggage compartment cover is not a

maneuvers or in a crash.

Objects located on the rea r shelf that rub
aga inst the rear w indow could damage the
heating wires for the rear window defog­
ger.
Enlarging cargo capacity of the vehicle
interior
The seat backs can be folded forward to en­
large the cargo capacity.

-The backrest must always be secure ly
latched so that the safety belt of the cen­
ter seating position can work properly to
help protect the occupant.
- The backrest must be securely latched in
position so that no items contained in
the luggage compartment can s lide for­
ward upon sudden braking.
- Always check whether the latch is fully
engaged by pull ing the seatback for­
ward .
- Never allow safety belts to become dam­
aged by be ing caught in door or seat
ha rdwa re.
- Torn or frayed safety belts can tear and
damaged be lt hardware can b reak in a
crash. Inspect the belts per iodically.
Belts show ing damage to webbing, bind­
ings, buck les, or retractors must be re­
p laced .
(D Note
-If you move the front seat back when the
rear seat backrest is folded forward, you
cou ld damage the head restraints on the
rear seat.
- Slide the be lt g uide on the outside safety
belt all the way up before folding the
backrest back forward. Make sure the
seat belt is not pinched or damaged
when the rear seat backrest if folded
back . Other objects should be removed

Three-zone climate control
Operation
Applies to vehicles: with three-zone climate control
We recommend pressing the !AUTOI button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

Press the buttons to turn the funct ions on or
off. The dial adjusts the temperature and the
blower . The LED in the buttons illuminates
when the funct ion is active.
IAUTO I Switching automatic mode on
Automatic mode maintains a constant tem­
perature inside the vehicle. Air temperature,
airflow and air d istribution are controlled au­
tomatically.

The temperature can be adjusted individually
for the driver and front passenger using the
d ials (!) and @.
~ Adjusting the airflow
Using the dial@, you can manually adjust the
amount of air generated by the blower to suit
your preferences . To have the airflow regulat­
ed automatically, press the
! AUTO ! button.
~. rill, [2] Adjusting the air distribution
You can manually se lect the vents where the
air will flow. To have the air distribution regu­ lated automatically, press the
!AUTOI button .
l""" I Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recirculation mode, the air inside the vehi­
cle is circulated and filtered. This prevents the
unfiltered air outside the veh icle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior . We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when dr iving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traffic

The !AUTO ! button or~ button switches recir­
cu lation mode off.
I OFFI Switching the climate control
system on/off
The ! O FF! button switches the climate con trol
system on or off.
It also switches on when yo u
turn the dial or press any button. Airflow from
outside is blocked when the climate control
system is switched off.
IACI Switching cooling mode on/off
The air is not coo led and humidity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off .
This can cause fog on the w indows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is be low zero.

Four-zone automatic climate control
Operation
Applies to vehicles: with four -zone a utomat ic climate control
We recommend pressing the IAUTOI button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C).

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or
off. Use the dials to adjust the temperature,
the blower speed and the air distribution. The
LED in a button will light up when the func­
tion is switched on. The settings are shown in
the climate control display and are also shown in the MMI display for a few seconds . The driv­
er and front passenger settings can be adjust·
ing separately.

IOFFl Switching the climate control
system on/off
The IOFFI button switches the climate control
system on or off .
It also switches on when you
turn the dial or press any button . Airf low from outside is blocked when the
climate control
system is switched off.
You can activate the residual heat funct ion
when the ignition is off by pressing and hold­
ing the ~ button. The residual heat from the
coolant is used to heat the vehicle interior.
The residua l heat function switches off auto­
matically after about 30 minutes.
IACI Switching cooling mode on /off
T he air is not coo led and humidity is not re­
moved when cooling mode is switched off.
This can cause fog on the windows. Cooling
mode switches off automatically when the
outside temperature is below zero.
1- 1 Switching recirculation mode on/off
In recircu lation mode, the air inside the vehi ­
cle is circ ulated and filtered. This prevents the
unfiltered air outside the vehicle from enter­
ing the vehicle interior. We recommend
switching recirculation mode on when driving
through a tunnel or when sitting in traffic

There must be at least 10 inches (25 cm) be­
tween you r chest and the center of the steer­
ing wheel.
If you cannot sit more than 10 in­
ches (25 cm) from the steer ing whee l, see if
adaptive equipment is available to help yo u
reach the peda ls and increase the distance
from the steer ing whee l.

Improper use of steering wheel adjust­
ment and improper seating position can
cause serious personal injury.
- Adjust the steering whee l co lumn on ly
when the vehicle is not moving to pre­
vent loss of veh icle control.

- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel
so that there is a minimum of 10 inches
(25 cm) between your chest and the
steering wheel

bag system cannot protect you properly.

If physical limitations prevent you from
sitting 10 inches (25 cm) or more from
the steering wheel, check with your au­
thorized Audi dealer to see if adaptive
equ ipment is ava ilable .
- If the steer ing wheel is aligned with your
face, the supplementa l driver's a irbag
cannot provide as much protection in an
accident . Always make sure that the
steering wheel is aligned with your
chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel w ith your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
tions to reduce the risk of personal injury
if the driver's airbag dep loys .
- Never hold the steering wheel at the 12
o'clock position or with your hands inside
the steering wheel rim or on the steering
wheel hub. Holding the steering wheel
the wrong way can cause serious injuries
to the hands, arms and head if the driv­
er's airbag deploys.
Electrically adjustable steering wheel

The steering wheel position can be electrically
adjusted for height and reach.

" To adjust the height, press the switch up/
down. The steer ing column will continue
moving as long as you are pressing the

ter and exit the vehicle by automatically ad­
justing the steering wheel.

When the easy entry feature is turned on, the
steering wheel moves up to the park position
