Luggage compartment with movement­
activated opening
Applies to: vehicles with convenience key and sensor-control·
led luggage compartment lid

Requirements: You must be carrying your vehicle
key with you. You must be standing at the center
behind the luggage compartment lid. The d is ­
tance to the rear of the vehicle must be at least
8 inches (20 cm) . The ignition must be switched
off. Make sure you have firm footing.

Once the system recognizes the movement, the
luggage compartment lid will open.
The luggage compartment lid will only open if
you make the movement as described. This pre­
vents the luggage compartment lid from opening
due to similar movements such as when you walk
between the rear of the vehicle and your garage
door.
General information
In some s ituations, the function is limited or
temporarily unavailable. This may happen if:
- the luggage compartment lid was just closed .
- you park close to a hedge and the branches
move back and forth under the vehicle for a
long period of time .
- you clean your vehicle, for example with a pres­
s ure washer or in a car wash .
- there is heavy rain.
- the bumper is very dirty, for example after driv-
ing on salted roads.
- there is interference to the radio signal from
the vehicle key, such as from cell phones or re­
mote controls.

Luggage compartment lid emergency
release
If the central locking system fails, the luggage
compartment lid can be opened at the lock cylin­
der.

The child safety lock prevents the rear doors
from being opened from the inside.

two-stage function :
Opening the windows
• Press the switch to the first level and hold it
until the w indow reaches the desired pos ition.

until the window reaches the desired position.

Parental control
When the safety button ® Q fig. 35 is pressed,
the@ symbol in the button turns on. The follow­
ing features are switched off:
- Th e power window switches in the rear doors .
- The buttons for the sun shade* in the rear w in-
dow.

-The buttons for the power sun shades * in the
side windows.
- The button for the front passenger's seat ad­
justment*.
A WARNING 1=
- Always take the vehicle key with you when
leaving the vehicle, even for a short period
of time. This applies particularly when chil­
dren rema in in the vehicle . Otherwise the
children could start the engine or operate
electrical equipment such as power win­
dows. The power windows a re functional un­
ti l the driver's door or passenge r's door has
been opened.
- Pay ca reful attention when closing the win­
dows.
It could cause injury by pinching.
- When locking the veh icle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win­ dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency.
@ Tips
- Using the switches © and @, the driver can
also operate the power sunshades* in the
side windows.
- After tu rning the ignition off you can st ill
open and close the w indows for app roxi ­
ma tely 10 minutes. The powe r windows are
not switched off until the driver's door or
passenger's door has been opened.
What to do after a malfunction
-
The one -touch open and close function must be
reactivated if the battery has been disconnected .
.,. Pull and hold the power w indow switch unt il
the window is fully closed.
.,. Release the switch and then pull it again for at
least one second.

Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the luggage
compartment from unauthorized access.

When the "valet parking" feature is activated:
- the unlocking button fo r the luggage compart­
ment lid~ in the driver's door is inactive
- the button~ on the master key is inactive
- the opening handle in the luggage compart-
ment lid is inactive.
The vehicle can be driven and locked and un­
locked with the master key . Access to the lug­
gage compartment is b locked.
When the valet parking function is switched on,
the message
V ale t p arki ng activat ed appears in
the instrument cluster d isp lay when you switch
the ignition on.

A wind deflector integrated into the sliding/tilt ­
ing sunroof adapts automatically to the speed
and sunroof position . This reduces w ind noise to
a m inimum in a ll sunroof positions .
You can still close or open the sunroof for up to
ten minutes after you have switched the ignition
off. The switch is deact ivated once the driver's or
front passenger's door is opened .
Solar protecti on
The solar protection opens automat ically when
the sunroof opens .

Pay careful attention when closing the slid­

Always close your slid ing/tilting sunroof when
l eav ing your vehicle. Sudden rain can cause
damage to the interior equipment of your ve­ hicle, part icularly the electronic equipment.

Emergency closing of the sliding/tilting
sunroof
If the s unroof detects an object in its path when
i t is closing, i t will open aga in automatically . In
th is ca se, you can close the roof with the power
emergency closing function .
• Within five seconds after the s unroof opens au­
t oma tically, pull the sw itch un til the roof
closes.

Garage door opener
(Homelink)

You can act ivate various systems such as garage
doors, security systems and home lighting from inside your vehicle using the garage door opener
(Homelink) . There are three buttons for th is in
the veh icle headliner that can be in used in place
of up to three hand-held transmitters.
To operate systems using the ga rage door open­
er, the three buttons in the roof headliner must be programmed first .
A WARNING
Make sure no people or objects are in the im­
mediate vicinity of the equipment when using
or p rogramm ing the garage door opener. Peo­
p le can be injured and ob jects can be dam­
aged if they are caught in the equipment.

You can adj ust the brigh tness for the four zones

Selecting a color profile
You can se lect from the Ivory , Polar and Rub y/

Instrument illumination
You can adjust the brightness of the instrument
and display illumination as well as the Head-up
Display* .

The instrument ill umination (for dia ls and
needles) lights o n when the igni tion is switch­

low. This feature is meant to rem ind you to
sw itch on the head lights when o utside light
conditions become poor.

Front passenger 's exterior mirror tilt
function
T o help you see the curb when backing into a
parking space, the su rface o f the mirro r tilts
s li ght ly . For this to happen, the knob must be in
the position for the front passenger's outside
mirror .
Yo u can adjus t the tilted mir ro r sur face by turn­
i ng the knob in the desired d irect ion . When you
move out of reverse and into another gea r, the
new m irror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
T he m irror goes back into its or iginal pos ition
once you drive forward faster t han 9 mph (15
km/h) or sw itch the ignition off.
A WARNING
-Cu rved m irror surfaces (aspher ic or convex *)
enlarge the field of v is ion . However, they
make objects in the mirro r appea r small er

to the master key each time the vehicle is locked.

115-volt socket
Applies to: vehicles with 115-volt socket
The 115-vo lt socket can only be used when the
engine is running
c:> & . When you push the con­
nector all the way into the socket, the ch ild safe­
ty mechan ism releases and current flows through
the socket .
Equ ipment th at can be conn ect ed
Electrical devices can be connected to the 1 15
volt socket in the vehicle. Power consumption at
the 115-volt socket must not exceed 150 watts
(300 watts peak) . Check the power consumpt ion
of the equipment on the model plate .
LED on the socke t
-The socket is ready for use when the LED is
green.
- If the LED blinks red, there is a malfunction .
The socket will switch off automatically due to overcurrent or overheating. The socket will
switch on again automatically after a cool­
down period . Any devices that are connected
and switched on will activate again automati­ ca lly

A WARNING
- T he so ckets and the electrical accesso ries
conne cted to them operate only when the
ignition is switched on . Incorrect usage can
lead to serious injuries or burns. To reduce
the risk of injuries, never leave children un­
attended in the vehicle w ith the vehicle key.
- Heavy eq uipment or plugs with integrated
power supply units can damage the socket
and lead to injuries.

Seat s and sto rage
-Store all connected equipment securely
while the veh icle is moving so that they can­
not be thrown through the vehicle in the
event of a braking maneuver or an accident.
- Never sp ill any liquids on the socket . If any
mo isture gets into the socket, make certain
that all the moisture has dried up before us ­
ing the socket again .
- Equipment that is connected to the vehicle
socket can heat up more than it does when
connected to the public grid .
- When us ing adapters and extens ion cords,
the child safety for the 115-volt socket is
disabled and the socket is live.
- Never insert anyth ing other than the plug of
an app ropr iate electrical accessory into the
soc ket, especially th ings that conduct ele c­
tr icity, e.g. metal pens, knitting need les,
etc. into the contacts of the 115 -vol t sock­
et .
- Turn the electrical equ ipment off if the
socket has switched off because of over­
heating.
(D Note
- Always follow the manufacture r's i nstruc­
tions for a ll electrical accessories yo u wan t
t o use with the e lectr ica l socket!
- Do not connect lamps tha t con tain a neon
t u be. Fo r tech nica l reasons the lamp may be
damaged.
- Do not connect any 230-volt equipment to
t he 115-vo lt socket . The equipment may be
damaged. If necessa ry , check the permiss i­
ble vo ltage for the equipment on the mode l
label.
- In the case of some power packs, e.g. for a
laptop computer , the bui lt-in ove rcurrent
shutoff prevents it from being switched on
because of excessive start-up current. In
this case, disconnect the power pack from the consumer and reconnect it after abo ut
1 0 seconds .

-Unshielded equ ipment may cause interfer­
ence in the radio and the vehicle electronics .
