Opening and clo sin g
- When locking the vehicle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win ­
dows can no longer be opened in an emer­
gency .
(D Tips
-Using switches @ and@, the driver can a l­
so operate the power sunshades* in the side
windows.
- After turning the ignition off you can still
open and close the windows for approxi­ mately 10 minutes . The power windows do
not switch off until the driver's door or front
passenger's door has been opened .
Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions .
• Pull the power window switch up until the win­
dow is comp letely ra ised.
• Release the sw itch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Sunroof

ton back to just before the second level.

A wind def lector integrated into the sliding/tilt­
ing sunroof adapts automatically to the speed
and sunroof pos ition. Th is reduces wind noise to
a minimum in all sunroof posit ions.
You can still operate the sliding/tilting sunroof
for about 10 minutes after the ignit ion is swi tch­
ed off. The switch is deactiva ted once the driver's
or front passenger's door is opened .
Sunshad e
The sunshade opens automatically when sliding
the roof open.
Vehicles with a glass panel sunroof : the sunshade
can be opened and closed by hand when the sun­
roof is closed.
Vehicles with a solar panel s unroof*: the closed
sunshade opens automatica lly when the sunroof
opens.
~ WARNING
Pay careful attention when clos ing the slid ­
ing/tilting sunroof - otherwise serious injury
could result! Always take the ignition key w ith
you when leav ing the veh icle.
(D Note
-
A lways close your sliding/tilting sunroof when
l eaving your vehicle. Rain can cause damage
to the interior equipment of your vehicle, par­ ticularly the electronic equ ipment .

- For information on the so lar roof *, refer to

-The sunroof will only open down to -20 °C
(-4 °F).

If the sunroof detects an object in its path when
it is clos ing, it w ill open again automatically. In
this case, you can close the roof w ith the power
emergency closing function.

The rear segment of the roof can be operated

front of the headliner turns on when the rear

You can sti ll operate the panorama glass roof for
about 10 minutes after the ignition is switched
off. The switch is deactivated once the driver's or
front passenger's door is opened .

Roof segments/sunshade emergency
closing
Applies to: vehicles with panorama glass roof
If the roof segment or s unshade detects an ob­
j ect in its path when it is closing, it will open
again automatically . In this case, you can then
close it w ith the power emergency closing func ­
tion.

Valet parking function
Applies to: vehicles with valet parking function
The valet parking function protects the luggage
compartment from unauthorized access.

You can switch the va let parking f unction on
whe n someo ne else is parking your vehicle. When
the function is switched on, the vehicle can be
driven, locked and unlocked using the master
key, but access to the luggage compartment is
not permitted.

Objects on the rear shelf that rub against the
rear window can damage the rear window de­
fogger wires.

- A vent slot is located between the shelf and
the rear window. Do not b lock the vent with
any items you may place on the rear window
shelf.
- Do not p lace bulky items on the rear window
shelf as they could restr ict or block the driv­
er's vision in the rear view mirror.
Roof rack

If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- Only a specially designed roof rack may be used
on your veh icle . These roof racks are the basis
for a complete roof rack system. Additional at­
tachments/carrier systems are necessary to
transport luggage and sports equipment . We
recommend roof racks and attachments from
the Audi Genu ine Accessor ies program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure that it
is mounted only at the designated points on
the roof

-The permissible roof load for your vehicle is
220 lbs (100 kg) . The roof load is the total of
the weight of the roof rack, the attachments and the cargo you are carrying. However, you

must also note the pe rmitted load of the carri ­

A WARNING
-Follow the installation instruct ions provided
wit h the roof rack system . If you do not se­
cure the roof rack system and objects on the
roof correctly, they could come loose from
the vehicle and ca use a n accident.
- Using a roof rack system increases the r isk
of an acc iden t, because it changes the d riv­
ing characte risti cs by shifting the center of
g ravi ty and/or the increasing the sur face
area exposed to wind. Adapt your driving
and speed to the current cond itions.

Make su re that the open luggage compart­
ment lid and the tilt ing/slid ing sun roof * do
not come into contact with objects on the
roof.
@ For the sake of the environment
Your vehicle will use more fue l due to the in­
creased wind resistance. So remove the roof rack after using it .

climate control
Description
The climate control system warms, cools and re ­
moves humidity from the air in the vehicle interi­
or. It is the most effective when the windows and
sunroof* are closed. If there is a build-up of heat inside the vehicle, ventilation can help to speed
up the cooling process .
In all heating mode functions, except for defrost,
the blower only switches to a higher speed once
the engine coolant has reached a sufficient tem­
perature .
Pollut ant filt er
The po llutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
Ke y r eco gnition
The climate control settings are a utomatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is in use .
A WARNING
Poor visibility can lead to accidents.
- For safer driving, keep all windows free of
ice, snow and fog .
- Become familiar as quickly as possible with
the correct use and function of the climate contro l system, especially with the defrost­
ing and defogging function.
- When the temperature is below freezing,
only use the windshield washer system after

the windshield has been warmed by the cli­
mate control system. The washer fluid could
freeze on the windshield and impair visibili­
ty .
@ Note
-If you suspect that the climate contro l sys­
tem is damaged, switch the system off to
prevent further damage and have it checked
by an authorized Audi dealer or authorized
Aud i Serv ice Facility.
- Repa irs to the Aud i climate control system
require special technical knowledge and
special tools . See an authorized Aud i dealer
or authorized Audi Serv ice Fac ility .
@ For the s ake of the environment
Reducing the amount of fuel used also re­
duces the amount of pollutants that enter the
a ir .
(D Tips
- To prevent interference with the heat ing
and cooling output and to prevent the win­
dows from fogging over, the a ir intake in
fro nt of t he w indshie ld must be free of ice,
snow or leaves.
- Condensat ion from the coo ling system can
dr ip and form a pudd le of water under the
veh icle . T h is is no rma l and does not mean
there is a leak .
- Th e energy management system may tem­
porarily switch off certain functions, suc h as
the seat heating* or rear window defogger .
T hese systems are avai lable again as soon
as the energy supply has been restored.

Warm and cold
(D Note
To avoid damage to the heating elements in
the seats, do not kneel on the seats or place
heavy loads on a small area of the seat.
Basic settings
The climate control system basic settings ore ac­
cessed in the Infotainment system.
,.. Select: the ICARI function button > Car systems
control button > AC.
Rear seat settings*
When this function is selected, all settings for
the rear can be adjusted through the climate con­
trol system in the cockpit. The climate control
system settings cannot be adjusted in the rear
seat at the same time. This function switches off
after a certain period of time or when one of the
dials in the cockpit is pressed.
Auto recirculation*
The sensit ivity level of the automatic recircula­
tion mode can be set at various levels from
Off to
Sensitive. When recirculation mode 1~ 1 is switch­
ed on, the air recirculation is controlled automat­
ically. If the windows fog up, press the
I ® FRONT I
button.
Footwell temperature
You can adjust the footwell temperature so that
it is cooler or warmer .
Solar roof*
Parking ventilation is controlled automatically in
the
Auto setting.
When the ignition is switched off, solar-powered
parking ventilation may switch on, as long as
- there is sufficient sunlight,
- the outside temperature is not too low,
- the sunroof is closed or tilted and
-Auto (Infotainment system) is set

Steering wheel heating
Applies to: vehicles with steering wheel heating
The steering wheel rim can be heated .

The temperature is maintained at a constant lev­
el when steering wheel heating is switched on.
The steering wheel heating settings are stored
automat ical ly and assigned to the remote control
key that is in use.

-Avoid driving through sa lt water, because
this can cause corrosion .
Economical and environmentally-friendly
driving
The amount of fuel consumption, the env iron­
mental impact and the wear to the engine,
brakes and t ires depends mostly on your dr iv ing
style. W it h an anticipatory and economic dr iv ing
style , fu el consumption can be reduced by ap ­
p roximate ly 10 -15% . The following tips wi ll help
you conserve the environment and your money at the same time .
Anticipatory driving
A veh icle uses the most fuel when acce le rating.
When you dr ive with ant ic ipat io n, you do no t
need to brake as often and so you accelerate less .
When possib le, let your vehicle coast with a
gear
eng aged ,
for example, when you notice that the
next traffic light is red. This produces an engine
braking effect, which helps to protect the brakes
and tires and reduces the emissions and fuel con­
sumpt ion to zero (fuel shut -off during decelera­
tion) .
Shift efficientl y
Upshifting earlier is an effective way to save fuel.
Staying in a gear too long uses fue l unnecessari­
ly . Press down on the accelerator pedal slowly
and avoid "k ick-down" .
Avoid full accel eration
You shou ld rare ly trave l at the maximum vehicle
speed. High speeds cause a disproportionately h igh increase in fuel consumption, emissions and
traffic no ise . Slower driving saves fuel.
Reduce idlin g time
The Start/Stop system* he lps to reduce the idling
time automatically. In vehicles without the Start/
Stop system*, it is efficient to switch the eng ine
off when stopped at ra ilroad crossings and long
red l ights . Stopp ing the engine for 30 -40 sec­
onds already saves more fuel than the amount of
ext ra fuel needed to resta rt the eng ine.

It takes a ve ry long time in id le to warm the en­
gine up to operating temperature. Wear and
emissions are especially high in the warm -up
phase. Therefore, you shou ld begin driving im­
med iate ly after starting the engine. Avoid high
RPMs while doing this .
Hav e maintenance perfo rmed regul arly
By having maintenance performed reg ularly on
your vehicle, you can help to reduce fuel con­
sumption before you even start to drive. The maintenance condition of your vehicle not on ly
affects traffic safety and long-term value but al­
so impacts fuel consumpt ion. A poorly main­
ta ined engine can lead to fuel consumpt ion that
i s 10% hig he r th an no rma l.
Avoid short trip s
The engine and exhaust cleaning system must
reach their optimal operat ing temperature to ef­
fect ively reduce consumpt ion and emissions .
A cold engine uses a d isproportionately high
amount of fuel. The engine reaches operat ing
temperature and consumption normalizes only
after approximately 2 .5 m iles (4 km) .
Check the tire pressu re
To save fue l, make sure the t ires are always in­
flated to the correct pressure
¢ page 291. The
fuel consumpt ion can increase by 5% if the pres­
sure is only 0 .5 bar too low . Due to the increased
r oll ing resistance, low tire p ressures w ill also
l ead to greater tire wear and will affe ct driv ing
behav ior.
Drive w ith summer tires when poss ible because
t hi s can increase fue l economy by up to 10% .
Eliminate unnecessary weight
Since every pound of extra weight increases fuel
consumption, it pays to remove any unnecessary
weight.
A roof rack increases the w ind resistance on the
vehicle and shou ld be removed when it is not
needed. You will save approximately 12% of your
fuel when at speeds from 62-75 mph (100-120 km/ h).

Input assis tance
The system gu ides you through the input with
visual and audio feedback .

recognition, a d isp lay with a select ion of possi­
ble commands appears in the Infotainment dis­
play . The command d isplay can be turned on or
off in the ma in menu using the
MMI setup con ­
trol button .
-Audio input a ssistance : to have the poss ible
comma nds read, turn the voice recogn ition sys­
tem on and say
Help.
For the s ystem to understand you:
Speak clearly and dist inct ly at a normal volume.
Speak louder when driving faster.
Emphasize the words in the commands even ly
and do not leave long pauses.
Do not speak a command when t he voice recogni ­
tion system is making an anno uncement.
C lose t he doors, the windows a nd the sunroof* to
reduce bac kg round noise . Make s ure t hat passen ­
gers a re not speaking when yo u are giving a voice
command.

Accessing the radio
The radio supports the FM, AM and Sirius* (satel­
lite radio) bands. By means of an HD Radio re­
ceiver, you also receive radio stations on the FM
and AM band in digital format.

After se lecting the r ad io, the last menu th at was
open is displayed.
- Showing the station li st : p ress the I RADIO I
button aga in. The receivab le s tat ions are shown
o n a ra d io s ta tion lis t
c:> fig. 189 and can be se­
lected direct ly.
- Selecting a station : select and confirm a sta­
tion from the s tation list. FM/ A M stations that
can be received by digital radio are marked with
the HD
symbol @ c:> fig. 189 . If reception quali­
ty declines, the radio automat ica lly switches to
the analog FM/AM stat ion. Dig ital FM HD Rad io
stations may contain multiple additional sta­
tions* . The available additional stations* are
listed unde r the radio station . When you leave
the reception a rea, additional stations* that

-Quick storing from the station list : select and
confirm a station from the station list. Press
and hold the control knob until
Store station
name
here appears in the presets list. Select
and confirm the des ired presets location.
- Select ing a stored station : press the Presets
control b utton . Select and conf irm a station
from the presets list.
- Select ing the frequen cy band : press the Band
control button. Select and conf irm the desired
band.
Or : press the !RADIO I button repeated ly
until the des ired frequency band appears in the
tit le line

-Updating the station list : select and confirm
Update station list . The station lists in the FM
and Sir ius* bands are updated automatically . If
the last station that was play ing is no longer
avai lab le after the stat ion list is updated, sta­
t ion 18 4 is played au tomatically.
If there is a loss of radio signal (Sir ius*), t he fol­
lowing system informat ion may display in the
station list:
LINKING : the tuner is current ly not receiving a
sate llite
s ignal @<=:> fig. 190.
ANTENNA : the antenna is not ready. For addi­
tional information, contact an author iz ed Audi
dealer or authorized Audi Service Fac il ity .
The system information turns off when the radio
stations are rece ived again .
@ Tips
- HD Radio reception is not available in Cana­
da.
- Con tact the Sirius * prov ider if you wo uld like
to receive satellite p rogramm ing .
- T hat stations in the AM station list are s till
displayed after you leave t he reception area.
There is no longer any reception .
- B uildings, tunnels, bridges, open areas, oth ­
er veh icles or objects on the veh icle roof can
affect reception.
- Sate llite radio is not availab le in Alaska and
Hawaii.
