Indicator lights
Description
The indicato r lights in the inst rument cluste r
b link or turn on. They ind icate funct ions or mal ­
f u nctions.
Messages may appear with some indicator l ights .
A wa rni ng sig nal w ill so und at the same t ime.
The indicato r lights a nd messages in the instr u­
men t cluster display can be covered by o ther d is ­
p lays. To show t hem again, select the second tab
with the m ultifunction steering wheel
¢ page 12 .
If th ere are seve ral malfunctions, you can display
them one at a time using the thumbwheel.
Some ind icator lights in the disp lay can display in
several colors .

the message in the instrument cluster.
Overview
Some ind icator lights turn on briefly as a function
check whe n you switch the ig nition on . These sys­
tems are marked with a

I f o ne of these indicato r lights does not turn on,
the re is a ma lf un ction in t hat system.
Your ve hicle has either a monochrome display or
a mu lticolored display, depend ing o n ve hicle
eq uipment. Some indicato r lights appear wh ite
on a monochrome d isp lay.

when the vehicle i s station ary or afte r switch­
ing the ignition on ,
check if you can re lease the
parking brake. If you cannot release the park­
ing brake, see an authorized Audi dealer or au­
thorized Audi Service Fac ility . If you can release
the parki ng brake and the message st ill ap­
pears , see an author ized Audi dealer or autho r­
ized Aud i Serv ice Fac ility immediately to have
the ma lfu nction correc ted.
- If the ind icator light and message appear
while
dri ving ,
the hill sta rt ass ist o r emergency brak­
ing function may be ma lfunction ing. It may not
be poss ible to set the park ing b rake o r release
it once it has been set. Do not park yo ur vehicle
on hills . See an aut horized Audi dea ler or au ­
thorized Audi Service Faci lity for assistance .
Brake boo ster : limited functionality . You can
continue d riv ing . Plea se cont act Ser vice
There is a ma lfunction in the b rake booster . The
brake booste r is ava ilab le, but its effective ness is
r educed. Br aking behavior may be d ifferent from
how it normally f unctions and the brake peda l
may vibrate .

malfunction cor rected.
& WARNING
- Read and fo llow the warnings in
¢ page 314, Working in the engine com ­
portment
before opening the hood and
checking the brake fluid level.
- If the brake system indicator light does not
turn off or it turns on wh ile driving, the
brake flu id leve l in the reservo ir is too low,
and this increases the risk of an accident .
Stop the vehicle and do not continue driv­ ing . See an a utho rized Aud i dea le r o r au­
thor ized A udi Se rvi ce Fac il ity for assistan ce.
- If t he brake system indicator light t urns on
together w it h the ABS and ESC indicator
lights, t he ABS/ ESC regu lating fu nction may
be ma lf u nct io ni ng. Funct io ns tha t stabi lize
the vehicle a re no longer available. This

set.
I f the

d icator light blinks, the bra king fo rce is no t buil d­
in g up enough or no t bui lding up at all. Selec t the
"P" selec to r l eve r posit ion to he lp secure the vehi ­
cle. Make s ure t he indicato r light is off before yo u
start driving.

@ Remote control key or convenience key*
The convenience key* is a remote control key with
special
functions ¢ page 33 and¢ page 76.
You can unlock/lock your veh icle w ith the remote
control key. A mechan ical key is integrated in the
remote control
key¢ page 32.
@ Key fob with vehicle code
Applies to vehicles with Audi connect vehicle control
Open the key tag and scratch to reveal the vehicle
code. You can unlock the Audi connect vehicle
control services* for your vehicle with this vehicle
code . For additional informat ion, see
¢ page 197 .
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authori zed Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility. Have this key de­
activated . It is important to bring all keys with
you .
If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insurance company .
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys assigned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system. To do
this, select the
I MENU I button >Ve hicle > left
control button
> Service & checks > Vehicle in­
formation .
This way, you can make sure that you
ha ve all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents unauthorized use of
the vehicle .
Opening and closing
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a different
vehicle manufacturer on the key c hain.
Data in the master key
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is continuously stored in your remote con­
trol key . Your Audi service advisor can read out
th is data and tell you about the work your vehicle
needs . This applies also to vehicles with a con­
venience key*.
Personal convenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses their own remote
control key. When the ignition is turned off or
when the vehicle is locked, personal convenience
settings for the following systems are stored and assigned to the remote master key .
- Climate control system
- Steering wheel heating*
- Central locking system
- Interior lighting*
- Exterior lighting
- Rain sensor
- Memory function*
- Parking aid*
-Adaptive cruise control*
- Active lane assist*
- Side assist*
- Traff ic jam assist*
- Distance warning*
- Audi pre sense*
- Speed warning *
T he stored settings are automat ically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, open the doors or
turn on the ignition.

Audi adaptive light
Appl ies to: vehicles wit h adaptive light
Adaptive ligh t provides better visibili ty whe n it i s
dark by adapting the lights to the road conditions
based on speed , such as on e xpressways, rura l
roads, at intersections, and in c urves. The adap­
t ive light only functions when the light sw itch is
i n the AUTO position .
A WARNING
--Automatic headlights* are on ly intended to
assist the driver. They do not relieve the
driver of responsibil ity to check the head­
lights and to t urn t hem on manua lly based
on t he curren t ligh t and v is ibility condition s.
For examp le, fog canno t be detec ted by the
light sensors. So always switch on the low
beams under these weather co nditions and
when driv ing in the da rk
io .
- To prevent glare for traffic behind yo ur vehi ­
cle, the rear fog lights should only be turned
on in accordance with traff ic regulat ions.
- Always observe legal regulations when
us­
ing the lighting systems desc ribed .
(D Tips
- The lig ht sensor for the automat ic he ad ­
lights * is in the rearview mir ror mount. Do
not p lace any st ickers in this area on the
windshield.
- A warning tone will sound if you open the door when the exte rior lights a re switched
on .
- Only t he front headlights turn on when t he
daytime running lights are switched on *. In
vehicles in certain markets, the tail lights
w ill also turn on .
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of the
head lights, turn signa ls and tail lights can
fog over due to the temperature diffe rence
between the inside and outside . They will
clear shortly afte r swi tching them on . This
does not aff ect the service life of the light­
mg.
