you lock the vehicle . If t he LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a malfunct ion in the cent ral locking

Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system . To do

Electronic immobilizer
T he immobilizer preve nts unau thori zed use of
t h e vehi cle.
Un der certai n circumstan ces, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a diffe ren t
vehicle manufa cture r on the key c hain .
Data in the master key
When driving, service and ma intenance-re levant
da ta is cont inuo usly stored in you r remote con
t rol key . Yo ur Audi se rvice advisor can rea d ou t
t hi s data and tell you abo ut the w ork yo ur vehicle
needs. This app lies also to ve hicles w ith a con
ven ience key* .
Personal co nvenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
th at each perso n always u ses "thei r own " maste r

Discharged batteries must be disposed of us
ing methods that will not harm the environ
ment . Do not dispose of them in household
trash .

again automatically. This feature prevents the ve
hicle from being accidentally left unlocked over a
long period of time.

mine if the entire vehicle or only the driver's door

-No one, especially children, should stay in the
vehicle when it is locked from the outside, be
cause the windows can no longer be opened

make it more difficult for emergency workers
to get into the veh icle, wh ich puts lives at

@ Tips
- Only use the remote control key when you
are within view of the veh icle.
- The vehicle can only be locked when these
lector lever is in the P position .
- Do not use the remote control when you are
inside the vehicle . Otherwise, you could un
intentionally lock the vehicle . If you then try
to open a door, the anti-theft alarm will
trigger. If this happens, press the unloc k
button@.
- Only use the panic function in an emergen
cy .
Unlocking/locking with the convenience
key

unlocked/locked without using the remote con
trol key .

not be locked otherwise .
• To lock the veh icle, close the door and touch
the sensor in the door handle

You can un lock/lock the vehicle at every door.
The remote control key cannot be more than ap
p roximate ly 4 feet (1. 5 m) away from the door
handle. It makes no difference whether the mas
ter key is in your jacket pocket or in your brief case, for example .
If you hold the door handle while locking, this
can impair the locking function.
The door cannot be opened for a br ief period di
rectly af ter lock ing it. This way you have the op
portun ity to check if the doors locked correctly.
The settings in the Infotainment system deter
mine if the ent ire ve hicle or only one of the doors
is unlocked when unlocki ng the vehicle
¢ page 39 .

If your vehicle is le ft standing fo r a long peri
od of time, note the following:
- T he energy management system grad uall y
turns off unnecessa ry cohvenience functions
to prevent the vehicle batte ry from draining
and to ma intain the vehicle's ab ility to start
for as long as possib le. You may not be able
to unlock your vehicle using the convenie nce
key.

When locking the vehicle with the central locking
switch , the following applies:
- Opening the door and the luggage compart
ment lid from the
outside is not possib le (for
security reasons, such as when stopped at a light) .
- The L ED in the centra l locking switch turns on
when all doors are closed and locked .
- You can open the doors ind iv idually from the
inside by pulling the door handle .
- In the event of a crash with airbag dep loyment,
the doors unlock a utomatica lly to allow access
to the vehicle .
A WARNING
-The central lock ing switch a lso works when
the ignition is switched off and automatical
ly locks the entire vehicle when the
ID but
ton is pressed .
- The central lock ing switch is inoperative
when the vehicle is locked from the outs ide .
- Locked doors ma ke it more diffic ult for
emergency workers to get into the vehicle,
which puts lives at r isk . Do not leave anyone
behind in the ve hicle, especially c hild ren.

~ Bring the luggage compartment lid into the de
sired open position. Th e position must b e at a
certain height or higher to sto re .
~ Press and hold the cs but ton for at least four
seconds to store the new open position . A visu
al and audio signal w ill follow .
~ To set a higher open position, wait at least five
seconds and then carefully press the luggage
compartment lid upward.
~ Press and hold the cs button again for at least
four seconds to store the desired opening posi
tion .
The opening/closing process w ill stop immed i
ately if :
- You pull/ release the
cs switch in t he driver's
door , or
- Applies to: vehicles with convenience key:
Press/release the
cs button on the remote
contro l key , or
- Applies to: vehicles with conve nience key : Press

cs button or the {f) button in the luggage

If you press the handle or one of the cs or tfl but
tons (vehicles w ith convenience key*) now , the
l uggage compartment lid wi ll either open or
close, depending on its angle.
_& WARNING
- After closing the luggage compartment lid,
make sure that it is latched. Otherwise the
luggage compa rtment lid could open sud
denly when driving, which increases the risk
u of an accident. co
~ - Pay careful attent ion when closing the lug-
8 gage compartment lid. Otherw ise, you could

cause serious injury to yourse lf or others de
spite the pinch protection.
- To reduce the risk of pinching injuries, al
ways make sure that no one is in the operat ing area of the luggage compartment lid; in
cluding the hinge areas and the upper and lower edge of the luggage compartment lid .
- Never drive with the luggage compartment
lid ajar or open, because poisonous gases
can enter the vehicle interior and create the
risk of asphyx iat ion .
- If there is a luggage rack (such as a bicycle
rack) on the luggage compartment lid, the
luggage compartment lid may not open
comp letely under certa in ci rc u mstances or it
could close by itself if open due to the ext ra
weight. To reduce the risk of injury, the
open luggage compartment lid must there
fore have additional support or the cargo must first be removed from the rack .

The luggage compartment lid can bump into
objects s uch as the garage ceiling when open
i ng and become damaged.
(D Tips
- The settings in the Infotainment system de
termine if the luggage compartment lid can be opened using the hand le
¢ page 39.
- T here are aud io signa ls when closing the
luggage compartment lid with the remote
cont rol key (vehicles with convenience key*)
or with the
cs button in the dr iver's door.
- When the vehicle is locked, the luggage
compartment lid can be unlocked separately
by pressing the
cs button on the remote
control key. The luggage compartment lid
locks automatically when it is closed again .
- Applies to: vehicles with convenience key:
The luggage compartment lid can be closed
with the convenience from a distance up to
approximately 9 ft (3 m).
- The luggage compartment lid can be oper ated manually if the vehicle battery is low .

switch is pressed/pu lled again.

closed, press/pull the switch to the first leve l
until the desired window position is reached.

A WARNING
- Always take the vehicle key with you when
leaving the vehicle, even for a short period
of time. This applies particularly when chil
dren rema in in the vehicle . Otherwise ch il
dren could start the engi ne or operate e lec
trical equipment (such as power windows),
wh ich increases the r isk of an accident. The
power windows cont inue to function unti l
the driver's door or front passenger's door
has been opened.

- Pay careful attention when closing the win
dows. Pinching cou ld cause serious injuries .
- When loc king the vehicle from outside, the
vehicle must be unoccupied since the win
dows can no longer be opened in an emer
gency.
(D Tips
You can still open and close the windows for
approximately 10 minutes after turning the
ignition off. The power windows do not switch
off until the driver's door or front passenger's
door has been opened.
Convenience opening/closing

All of the windows and the roof* can be opened/
closed at the same time .

~ Press and hold the III button on the remote con
trol key until all of the windows reach the de
sired position and the roof* is tilted open .

A WARNING
- To reduce the r isk of injury, never close the
w indows or the roof* carelessly or in an un
controlled manner.
- For secur ity reasons, the windows and the
roof* can only be opened and closed with
the remote control key at a maxim um dis
tance of approx imately 6.5 feet (2 m) away
from the vehicle . Always pay attention when
using the~ button to close the windows
and the roof* so that no one is pinched. The
clos ing process will stop immediately when
the ~ button is released.
(D Tips
Applies to: vehicles wit h panorama g lass roof:
the power sunshade also opens/closes when
opening/closing the roof.
' Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func
tion if it malfunctions.
~ Pull the power window switc h up until the win
dow is completely raised.
~ Release the switch and pull it up aga in for at
least one second .

Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description

With th e garag e door open er (Homelink), you
can activate systems such as the garage doors,
security systems or house lights from inside you r
veh icle. Three buttons are integrated in the head
liner that can be programmed to up to three re
mote controls .
To be able to operate systems u sing the gar age
door opener, the buttons in the headliner must
first be programmed .
_& WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment. Peop le can be injured or prop
erty can be damaged if struck when closing .

- For security reasons, we recommend that
you clear the programmed buttons before selling the vehicle .

mitter are charged before starting the pro
gramming process.

Your vehicle is equipped with a n automatic head
light range contro l system that red uces glare for
oncom ing traffic if the veh icle load changes. The
headligh t range ad justs a utoma tically .

Audi adaptive light
App lies to: vehicles with adaptive light
Adaptive ligh t provides be tter visibility when i t is
dark by adapting the ligh ts to the roa d conditions
based on speed, such as on expressways, r ura l
roads, at intersections, and in curves. The adap
tive light only functions when the light switch is
i n the AUTO position .
A WARNING
-Automatic headlig hts* are on ly intended to
assist the driver . They do not relieve the
driver of responsib il ity to check the head
lights and to t urn them on manua lly b ased
on t he curre nt ligh t and v is ibility conditions.
F or exa mple, fog cannot be detec ted by the
light sensors. So always switch on the low
beams under these weather condit ions and
when dr iv ing in the dark
tD .
- T he rear fog lights shou ld only be turned on
in acco rdance w ith traffic regulations, to
prevent glare for traffic behind your vehicle.
- Always observe le g al regulat ions when us
ing the lighting systems desc ribe d.
{l) Tips
- Th e light sensor for the a utomat ic he ad
ligh ts * is in the rearview mir ror mount. Do
not p lace any stickers in this area on the
w indshield .
- A warning tone will sound if yo u ope n the
door when the exte rior Lights a re switched
on.
- Only the front headlights turn on when t he
daytime running lights are switched on* . In
vehicles in certain markets, t he tail lights
w ill also t urn on .
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of t he
head lights, t urn signa ls and ta il lig hts can
fog over due to the temperature difference
between the inside and outside . They w ill
clear shortly afte r swi tching them on . This
does not affect the service life of t he light
mg.

The camera view is b lo cked , fo r example by a

The sensor is located between the interior rear
view mir ror and the windshield . Do not p lace any
stickers in th is area on the windshield .
_& WARNING
High beam assistant is only i ntended to assist
t he driver. The dr iver is still res ponsible for
cont ro lling the headlights and may need to
switch them on and off manually depend ing
on light and visib ility co nditions . It may be
necessary to ope rate them manua lly in s itua
tions such as:
- In adve rse weathe r cond itions such as fog,
heavy ra in, b low ing snow or sp raying water .
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be
partia lly obscured, s uch as exp ressways .
- When there a re road users that do not have
s uf ficient lighting, s uch as bicyclers o r
vehicles with dirty ta il lamps.
- In tight curves and o n steep hills .
- In poorly lit areas .
- Wi th stro ng reflecto rs, such as s igns.
- If the area of the windsh ield near the senso r
is fogged ove r, dirty, i cy or covere d with a
st icker .

Automatic headlights

Entry/exit lighting
When it is dark, the Ent ry /exit lighting ill umi
nates the area a round the vehicle when unlocking
the veh icle and after switch ing off the ig nition
and opening the dr ive r's door .
The
Entry /e xit lighting only works when it is
dark and the light sw itch is in the
AUTO posit ion.
Daytime running lights
USA models :
the daytime r unning lights can be
switch ed on/off . S elect
On or Off.
Canada models: this f unction canno t be sw itched
off. They activate automatically each time the ig
nit ion is switched on.

Interior lighting

The interior lighting turns on when you switch
the head ligh ts on while the igni tion is on .
The storage compartment in the door is illumi
nated when yo u reach your hand into the storage
compartment.
Ver sion 1
To adjust the brightness of individua l zones, se

Front brightness *, Door b rightne ss or Foot
well brightnes s.
Turn the control knob to the left
or to the right. Press the control knob to co nfirm
the br ightness .
Version 2
Select and confirm one of the displayed profiles
by press ing the control knob.
Individual: you can customize the brightness and
color of individual zones. Press the r ight control
button. Press the control knob again to confirm
the settings.

Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru
ment illumination (needles and gauges) may
