Tilt funct ion for the pa ssenger' s mi rro r
To help yo u see the c urb when bac king into a
parking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly . The knob must be in the P posit ion
for this to happen .
You can ad just the ti lted mirror s urface by
turning the knob in the desired direction .
When you move out of reverse and into anoth­
er gear, the new mirror posit ion is stored and
assigned to the key yo u are using. T
he mi rror goes back i nto its orig inal position
o nce you drive forward faster than 9 mph (15
km/h) or switch the ign ition off .
A WARNING
--
- Curved (i.e. conve x) mirror surfaces in­
crease your fie ld of view. Remember that
veh icles o r ot he r objects will appea r
smalle r and farther away t han when seen
in a flat mirror. If you use th is m irror to
estimate distances of followi ng ve hicles
when c hang ing lanes, y ou could estimate
i n correct ly and cause an accide nt.
(D Note
- If the m irror housing is moved uninten­
ti onally (for examp le, w hile pa rking your
veh icle), then yo u must first fold t he mir ­
ror electrically. Do not re adj ust the mir­
ror housing man ually . You co uld damage
the motor which controls the mirror .
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car was h, you must fo ld the exter ior mir­
rors in to reduce the risk of damage to
the mirro rs. Never fold power folding ex­
terior mirrors* by hand. Only fo ld them
in and out using the power controls.

- If there is a malfunction in the electrical
system, you can sti ll adjust the exterior
m irrors by pressing the edge of the mir­

tom edge of the mirror) to the r ear.

"' To dim the rearv iew mirror and both exteri­
or mirrors, press the@ button. The diode
@ turns on . The rearview and exte rior mi r­
rors dim automatically when l ight sh ines on
them, for example from h eadlights on ave­
hicle to the rear.
A WARNING
E lectrolyte flu id can leak from automatic
dimming mirrors if the glass is broken.
Electrolyte flu id can irritate skin, eyes and
resp iratory system .
- Repeated or prolonged exposure to elec­
tro lyte can cause irritation to the resp ira ­
tory system, espec ially among people
with asthma or other respiratory cond i­
tio ns. Get fresh ai r immediately by leav­
ing the vehicle or, if that is not possible,
open windows and doors all the way.
- If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush
them tho ro ughly wi th la rge amoun ts of
clean water for at least 15 m in utes;
medica l attention is recommended .
-If elec trolyte contacts s kin, f lush affec t­
ed area with clean water for at least 15
minutes and then wash affected area
with soap and water; medical attention
is recommended . Thoroughly wash af­
fected clothing and shoes before reuse.
- If swa llowed and person is conscious,
rinse mouth w ith water for at least 15
minutes . Do not induce vom iting un less
instructed to do so by medical professio ­
nal. Get medical attention immedia tely .

Liquid electrolyte leaking from broken mir­
ror glass will damage any p lastic surfaces
it comes in contact with . Clean up spilled
electrolyte immediately with clean water
and a sponge.

off the dimming function of
the inside rear view mirror also deacti­
vates the automatic dimming function of the exter ior mirrors.
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim when the interior lighting is turned
on or the reverse gear is selected.

A WARNING
--Never adjust the driver's or front pas·
senger's seat whi le the vehicle is moving.
If you do th is while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position. A lways adj ust
the dr iver's or front passenge r's seat
when the vehicle is no t mov ing.
- Be careful when ad justing the seat
he ight. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serio us injury co ul d resu lt!
- Because the seats can be e lectrically ad­
justed with the igni tion off, never leave
child ren unattended in the veh icle. Uns u­
pervised use o f the electric seat adj ust ­
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas ­
sengers must never ride in a moving ve­
hicle with the backrest reclined. Safety be lts and the airbag system only offer
maximum protection when the backrest is upr ight and the safety belts are prop·
erly positioned on the body. The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
ris k of persona l injury from an incor re ct
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.
(D Tips
The massage fun ction switches off auto·
matically after approximately 10 minutes.

The memory buttons are located in the dr iv­

• To store a seating prof ile, press the
IS ETI
button and then one of the memory but­
tons.
• To reca ll a se ati ng profile, press and hold
the memory button until the seat is adjust­
ed to the stored settings.
• To switch the memory function for the driv­
er or front passenger off, press the
I OFFI
button. The word OFF lights up when the
memory function is switched off. Seating
profiles will not be stored.
A WARNING
-For safety reasons, the seat sett ing
should only be recalled when the vehicle
is stationary - otherwise you risk having
an accident .
- If necessary, you stop the process by
pressing the
I OFFI button or any of the
memory buttons.

Adjusting the front passenger seat in

The driver can adjust the position of the front
passenger seat.
Adjusting the front passenger seat from
the driver's side
• Select: I CAR I function button > (Car)* sys­
tems

Seats> Front passenger seat> Adjust seat
position.
• You can now adjust the front passenger seat
using the buttons on the driver's seat

• To adjust the front passenger seat to match
the driver's seat settings, select the

function button > (Car)* systems control

adjustment process is complete .
(!) Tips
When matching seat settings, the settings
for the lumbar support and seating sur­
face will not transfer to the front passeng­
er's seat.

causing scalding burns. Spilled hot liquid
can also cause an accident and personal
injury .
- Use only soft cups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and glasses can cause injury in an
accident .
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an
ashtray- risk of fire.
([) Note
Only drink containers with lids should be
carried in the cupholder. Liquid could spill
out and damage your vehicle's electronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Cooled glove compartment

The cooled glove compartment only functions
when the AIC system is switched on.

The glove compartment cooling mode only
functions when the vehicle A/C system is

_& WARNING
Always leave the lid on the glove compart­
ment cover closed while driving to reduce
th e risk of injury.
Additional storage
Ther e are a variety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the vehicle.
- Storage compartments in the doors
- Compartment in the glove compartment
(cooled*) . The glove compartment can be
locked using the mechanical key

-Storage compartment for (sun)glasses* in
the roof (near the interior mirror)
- Storage compartments under the center
armrests
- Storage compartment on the rear side of
the front seat* . The compartment can hold a
maximum weight of 1 kg .
- Compartments* on the back of the front
seat backrests
- Garment hooks on the sides of the pillars in
the rear of the vehicle and in the rear grab
handles
- Compartment in the rear center armrest
- Two mounting hooks* under the base of the
rear window inside the luggage compart­
ment. You can attach light objects to these
hooks . The mounting hooks are spring -load­
ed and will return to their normal position
when not in use.
_& WARNING
- Always remove objects from the instru­
ment panel. Any items not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle while driv­
ing or when accelerating or when apply­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter console or other storage locations
cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Always keep the lid of the compartment
for (sun)glasses* closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury during a sudden
braking maneuver or in the event of an
accident.
-

-Any articles of cloth ing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's view. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang
any clothing w ith hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks. During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects could injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle.
- To reduce the r isk of personal injury in an
acc ident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed whi le driving.
- Read and fo llow all WARN INGS
~ page 167, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's v ision .
- T he coat hooks m ust only be used for
lightwe ight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock ­
ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain a irbag deployment and can cause
persona l injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging
clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the
side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they cou ld cause personal in­
jury in a sudden stop.
- For strength-related reasons, the mount­
ing hooks can only be used to secure ob­
jects weighing up to 10 lb. (5 kg). Heavi­ er objec ts will not be adequately secured
- there is a risk of injury.

Roof rack
Description and mounting locations
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

.,. Always read and follow the instructions pro­
vided by the roof rack man ufacturer when
installing the roof rack system .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, yo u must observe the following:
- Only use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks a re the basis
for a comple te roof rack system. Add it iona l
attachments or ca rr ier systems a re needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment .
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi original accessories program.
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations
on the roof

-We recommend that you keep the installa­
tion instructions for your roof rack system
together with your Owner's literature in the
veh icle.
When should th e roof rack be removed?
- Before going through an automatic car wash
(it is best to ask the car wash operator for
advice).
- When not in use, to reduce fue l consump­
tion, wind noise and to guard aga inst theft.
A WARNING
- Use of an unapproved roof rack or incor­
rect mounting of an approved roof rack

compartment can cause in a collision at a
speed considered relatively low .
A WARNING
Weak, damaged or improper straps used
to secure items to tie-downs can fail dur­
ing hard braking or in a collision and cause
serious personal injury.
- Always use suitable retaining straps and
properly secure items to the tie-downs in
the luggage compartment to help pre­
vent items from shifting or flying for­
ward.
- Never attach a child seat tether strap to
a tie-down.
- For strength-related reasons, the mount­
ing hooks can only be used to secure ob­
jects we ighing up to 10 lb. (5 kg) . Heavi­
er objects will not be adequa tely secured
- there is a risk of injury.

tion is on and switched

After a cold engine is started, the re may be a
brief period of increased noise because oil
pressure must first bu ild up in the hydraulic
va lve adjusters. This is normal and not a cause
f or concern.
If the engine should not start immediately,
the starting process is automatically stopped
after a short time . Repeat starting procedure.
Start-Stop-S ystem *:
When you stop and the Start-Stop-System*
turns
off the engine, the ignition still remains
switched on.
- If you press the I STAR T ENGINE STOPI but­
ton now, the ignition wi ll be switched
off.

-Make sure tha t th e ig nit ion is swi tched off
before ex iting the vehicle.
Sw itching the ignition /engine off

The fo llow ing applies to vehicles with Start­
Stop -System*: to prevent the battery from
draining, the ignition and the engine wi ll
switch
off automatically under the following
conditions :
- T he vehicle has already been dr iven.
- T he d river's door is opened.
- T he driver's seat be lt is removed.
- The brake pedal is not pressed down .
- The veh icle is sta tionary.
In t his case, the activated low beam w ill be re­
p laced by the side marker lights. The side
marker lights will switch
off after a certain pe­
riod of time or when you lock the vehicle.

yo u canno t swi tch on the igni tion after stop­
ping the engine and you also cannot start the
engine again. Moreover, you cannot lock the
vehicle from the outside with the key.

This message appears if the drive r's door is
opened wh ile the ign ition is switched on. Al­
ways swi tch off the ignit io n if you a re leav ing

St eeri ng lock
The steering locks when you turn the engine
off using the I S TAR T ENGINE STOP I button
and open the d river 's door. The locked steer­
ing helps prevent vehicle theft.
A WARNING
- Never allow the engine to ru n in confined
spaces -dange r of asphyxiation .
- Never turn
off the eng ine until the vehi­
cle has come to a complete stop .
- The brake booster and power steer ing
only work when the engine is running . If
the engine is
off, you have to use more
force when steering or braking . Because
you cannot stee r and brake as you usua l­
ly wou ld, this could lead to crashes and
serious injur ies.

- Avoid high eng ine rpm , fu ll th rottle and
heavy engine loads unti l the engine has
r eached operating temperat ure -ot her­
wise yo u risk eng ine dam age.
- The eng ine cannot be sta rted by pushing
or tow ing the veh icle.
-If the engine has been under heavy load
fo r an ex tended pe riod, hea t builds up in
the engine compartment after the en­
gine is switched
off -there is a risk of
damaging the engine. Allow the engine
to run at idle for about 2 m inutes befo re
switch ing it
off.

nitio n on, a buzzer sounds and the mes­

Emergency off
If necessary, the engine can be switched off
with the selector lever in the R or D/S posi­
t ion . The eng ine stops if you press the
I S TAR T ENG INE S T OPI button at speeds below
6 mph (10 km/h) and press the b rake peda l.

cle has come to a complete stop .

off. It can also sw itch on again
afte r some t ime if the coo lant tempera­
ture rises as the resu lt of a hea t buildu p
or if the engine is hot and the engine
compa rtment is additionally heated by
the s un's rays .
