tom LED blinks red when the fuel level is very
low.
The
fuel tank capacity of your vehicle is listed in
the Technical Data section¢ page 299.

Never drive until the tank is completely emp
ty.
The irregular suppl y of fuel that results
from that can cause engine misfi res. Uncom
busted fuel will then enter the exhaust sys
tem. Th is can cause overheating and damage
to the catalytic converter.
Indicator Lights
Description
The indicator lights in the instrument cluster
blink or turn on. They indicate functions or mal
functions.
Wit h some ind icator lights, messages may ap
pear and warning signals may sound. The indica
tor lights and messages in the display can be cov
ered by other displays. To show them again, se
lect the tab for the indicator lights and messages
using the multifunction steering wheel
¢page 19. If there are several malfunctions,
you can display them one at a time using the
thumbwheel.
Some indicators lights in the display can turn on
in several colors.
Overview
Some indicator lights turn on briefly as a function
check when you switch the ignition on. These sys
tems are marked with a./ in the following tables.
I f
one of these indicator lights does not turn on,
there is a malfunction in that system.

Bead separation
means a breakdown of the bond
between components in the bead.
Cord
means the strands forming the
plies in the tire.
Cold tire inflation pressure
means the tire pressure recom
mended by the vehicle manufac
turer for a tire of a designated
size that has not been driven for
more than a couple of miles (kilo
meters) at low speeds in the
three hour period before the tire
pressure is measured or adjusted.
Curb weight
means the weight of a motor ve
hic le
with standard equipment in
c l
uding the maximum capacity of
fuel, oil, and coolant, air condi
tioning and additional weight of
optional equipment.
Extra load ti re
means a tire designed to operate
at higher loads and at higher in
flation pressures than the corre
sponding standard tire. Extra load
tires may be identified as "XL ",
Wheels
"xl" "EXTRA LOAD" or "RF" on , ,
the sidewall.
Gross Axle Weight Rating
("GAWR")
means the load-carrying capacity
of a single axle system, measured
at the tire-ground interfaces.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(" GVWR ")
means the maximum total loaded
weight of the vehic le.
Groove
means the space between two ad
jacent tread ribs.
Load rating (code)
means the maxim um load that a
tire is rated to carry for a g iven in
flation pressure. You may not find
this information on all tires be
ca use it is not required by law.
Maximum load rating
means the load rating for a tire at
the maximum permissible infla
tion pressure for that tire.
Ma ximum loaded vehicle
weight
means the sum of:

Raising the vehicle
Lifting with workshop hoist and with floor
jack
The vehicle may only be li~ed at the lifting
points illustrated.

to match vehicle lifting points.

The vehicle jack mode*
must be activated so that
the automatic adjustment of the Adaptive Air
Suspension*
does not make it more d ifficult to
raise the vehicle with the floor jack.
If you must lift your vehicle with a f loor jack to
work underneath, be s ure the ve hicle is safely
s
upported on stands i ntended for this purpos e .
Front lifting point
The lifting point is located on the floor pan rein
forcement about at the same level as the jack
mounting point¢ fig. 220. Do not lift the vehi
cle at the vertical sill reinfor cement.

The lifting point is located on the vertical rein
forcement of the lower sill for the on-board jack

workshop
hoist and floor jack lift points il
lustrated ¢fig. 220 and ¢fig. 221.
-Failure to lift the vehicle at these points
could cause
the vehicle to tilt or f all from
a lift ifthere is a change in vehicle weigh t
distribution
and balance. This might hap
pen, for example, when heavy compo
nents such as the engine block or trans
mission are removed.
-
When removing heavy components like
these, anchor vehicle to hoist or add corre
sponding weights to maintain the center of
gravity. Otherwise, the vehicle might tilt or
slip off the hoist, causing serious personal
injury .

-Be aware of the following points before lift
ing the vehicle:
- The vehicle
should never be lifted or
jacked up from underneath the engine oil
pan, the transmission housing, the front
or rear axle or the body side members.
This could lead to serious damage.
-To avoid damage to the underbody or
chassis frame, a rubber pad must be in
serted between the floor jack and the lift
points.
- Before driving over a work shop hoist,
check that the vehicle weight does not
exceed the permissible lifting capacity of
the hoist. ..,.

The vehicle capacity weight (max. load) is listed
either on the driver's side B-pillar or inside the
fuel filler flap.
& WARNING
- The
actual Gross Axle Weight Rating at the
front and rear axles should not exceed the
permissible weights, and their combination
must not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight
Rating .
- Exceeding
permissible weight ratings can
result in vehicle damage, accidents and per
sonal injury .

The dimensions can vary depending on the model
and equipment.

steep ramps, make sure that low-lying compo
nents such as the spoiler and exhaust system do

- The vehicle capacity
weight figures apply
when the load is distributed evenly in the
vehicle (passengers and luggage). When
transporting a heavy load in the luggage
compartment, carry the load as near to the
rear axle as possible so that the vehicle's
handling is not impaired.
-Do not exceed the maximum permissible
axle loads or the maximum gross vehicle
weight. Always remember that the vehicle's
handling will be affected by the extra load.
Therefore, adjust your speed accordingly.
- Always
observe local regulations.
