on your vehicl e using this PIN code.
Replacing a key
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
author ized Audi Service Facility. Have
this key de­
activated . It is important to bri ng a ll keys with
you . If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insuranc e company.
Numb er of keys
You can check the n umber of keys ass igned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system . To do
this, select : the
I MEN U I button > Vehicl e > left
control b utton
> Service & chec ks > Vehicle in­
fo rm ation .
This way, you can make sure that you
have all the keys when purchasing a used vehicle .
Electron ic immobili ze r
The immobilizer preven ts unauthorized use of
the vehicle .
Under ce rtain c ircumstances, the ve hicle may not
be ab le to start if the re is a key from a differe nt
vehicle manufact urer on the key chain .
Data in the master k ey
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is continuously stored in your remote con­
trol key. Your Aud i service adv isor can read out
this da ta and tell yo u about the wo rk your vehicle
needs . This applies a lso to vehicles with a con ­
ven ience key* .
Personal convenience settings
If two peop le use one vehicle, it is recommended
that ea ch pe rson always uses "t heir ow n" master
key. When the ignition is tur ned off or when the
vehicle is locked, persona l convenience settings
for the follow ing systems are stored and as­
signed to the remote mast er key.

The stored settings a re a utomat ica lly recalled
whe n you unlock the vehicle , open the doo rs or
tu rn o n the ignition.
&_ WARNING
Always take the vehicle key with you when
leav ing the veh icle, even for a short period of
time. This applies particularly when chi ldren
remain in the vehicle . Otherwise the children
could start the engine or operate e lectrica l
equ ipment such as power wi ndows.
(D Tips
-
The operation of the remote control key can
be temporarily d isrupted by interference from
transmitters near the vehicle working in the
same frequency range (such as a cell phone or radio equipment) . A lways check if your vehicle
i s locked!

Correcting power window malfunctions
You can reactivate the one-touch up/down func­
tion if it malfunctions.
~ Pull the power window switch up until the win­
dow is completely raised.
~ Release the switch and pull it up again for at
least one second .
Garage door opener
(Homelink)
Description
Applies to: vehicles with garage door opener (Homelink)

With the garage door opener (Homelink), you
can act ivate systems such as the garage doors,
security systems or house lights from inside your
vehicle. Up to three remote control functions can
be programmed to the three buttons that are in­
tegrated in the control unit above the rearview
mirror.
To be able to operate systems using the garage door opener, the buttons in the control unit must
first be programmed .
A WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob­
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment . People can be injured or prop­
erty can be damaged if struck when closing.

Programming the button : step 1 on the
control panel
1. Switch on the ignit ion.
2. Press both of the outside buttons on the con­
trol unit¢
page 33, fig. 28 until the yellow
LED @turns off and the green LED@ blinks.
This procedure clears the standard codes that
were set at the factory and does
not need to
be repeated again to program the other but­
tons.
3. Briefly press the button in the control panel
that you want to program.
4. Wait until the yellow LED@blinks. The pro­
gramming mode is active for 5 minutes.
5. Go in front of the vehicle with the original re­
mote control transmitter for the system that
you are programming to the control panel
button.

6. Ho ld the remote control transmitter at the
vehicle radiator grille¢

7. Now press the remote control transmitter
until the turn signals on your vehicle blink.
This can take up to 30 seconds.
8. If the emergency flashers blink three times,
the programming was successful.
If the
emergency flashers only b link one t ime, the
five-minute time limit for programming has
expired or the programming was unsuccess­
ful. Repeat the programming starting from
the third step or change the distance to the
radiator grille.

9. If the garage door or other systems do not
open with the Homelink buttons even if the
programming was successfu l, the system
may use a rolling code instead of a fixed
code. You must also then perform
rolling
code programming
c:, page 35.
The other two buttons in the control panel can be
programmed using the instructions given above.
Start with step 3.
Deleting button programming
The programmed buttons cannot be deleted indi­
vidually. They must be deleted all at once. Repro ­
gram the buttons if necessary.

.,.. Press both of the outside buttons on the con­
trol unit until the yellow LED @turns off and
the green LED(!) blinks .
Reprogramm ing buttons
.,.. Switch on the ignition .
.,.. To reprogram an individual button, press the
desired button until the green LED @turns off
and the yellow LED@starts to blink (after ap­
proximately 20 seconds). Release the button
immediately. The programming mode is active
for 5 minutes.

- The distance needed between the remote
control transmitter and the Homelink mod­
ule in the radiator grille

- Depending on the system model, you may
need to release the button on the remote
control transmitter while it is programming
and press it again . Hold every position you
try when programming for at least 15 sec­
onds before trying a new position. Keep an
eye on the vehicle turn signals while doing
this.

Rolling code programming
Appl ies to: ve hicles with garage door opener (Homeli nk)
On some systems, programming a rolling code is
also necessary .
Identifying a rolling code
~ Press the button in the control un it that is al­
ready programmed again and hold it down.
~ Watch the green LED@¢ page 33, fig. 28. If
the green
LED blinks quickly, the system (such
as a garage door) has a rolling code .
~ Program the rolling code as follows:
Activating the system motor unit
~ Locate the programming button on the system
motor unit. The exact locat ion and color of the
button may vary depend ing on the system man­
ufacture r's brand .
~ Press the programming button on the system
motor unit (usually th is w ill activate a "display"
on the motor unit). You now have approximate­
ly 30 seconds to program the button in the
contro l pane l.
Programming the button in the control
panel
~ Press the previously programmed button in the
contro l pane l for 2 seconds.
~ To complete ro lling code programming, press
the button again for 2 seconds.
~ On some systems, the button m ight need to be
pressed a third time to end the programming
procedure .
After programming, the system should recognize
the signal and operate when the button in the
control panel is pressed . Now you may program
the other buttons as needed .
(D Tips
- The rolling code can be programmed more
quickly and more easily with the help of a
second person .
- If any diff icu lties occur when programming
the rolling code, it may be helpful to read
the system operating manual.

You can control the functions through the dial,
buttons in the dial and the buttons . Press the
buttons to turn the functions on or off . The LED
i n a button w ill light up when the funct ion is
sw itched on .
We recommend pressing the
IAU TOI button and
setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C) . The au­
tomatic climate control system automatically
maintains a temperature once it has been set .
The air temperature coming from the vents, the
b lower speed, and the air dis tribution are also
automatically adjuste d. In all heati ng mode func ­
tions except
defrost, the blower only switches to
a higher speed once the engine coolant has
reached a certain temperat ure.
~ Adjusting the blower
The blower speed can be adjusted in small incre­
ments using the dial @. The blower should al­
ways run at a low setting to prevent the windows
from fogging and to ensure a continuous ex­
change of air inside the vehicle. You can adjust
the volume of a ir generated by the blower to your
preference . To have the blower regulated auto­
mat ically, press the
IAUTOI butto n.
IA/C l Switching cooling mode on and off
The cooling system is turned on and off w ith the
IA/C l button. The air is not cooled and humidity is
not removed when cooling mode is switched off.

This can cause fog on the w indows. Coo ling mode
switches off automatically when the outside tem­
perature is below zero .
The temperature can be adjusted with the con ­
trol @.

The temperature can be adjusted in small incre­
ments using the dial@.
I AUTO I Switching automatic mode on and off
The au tomatic mode is turned on using the
IAUTOI button. AUTO mode switches off once a
button in the climate control system is pressed.
Automat ic mode maintains a constant tempera­
ture inside the vehicle . Air temperature , airflow
and air distribution are controlled automatically.
Adjusting the air distribution
The air distribution can be adjusted with the con­
tro l@ . To have the air distribution regulated au­
tomatica lly, press the
IAUTO l button.
The round ai r vents in the cockpit a re adjustable
¢ page 53.
To keep the front side windows from fogg ing up
i n damp weather, we recommend ope ning the
s ide air vents and tilting them to the side.

ment system functions, such as entering a desti­
nation, only when the vehicle is stat ionary . Al ­
ways be p repared to stop opera ting the Info tain­

Introduction
The Multi Media Interface , or MMI for short,
combines various systems for communication ,
navigation* and entertainment in your Audi . You
can operate the MMI using the MMI control pan­
el, the multifunction steering wheel or the voice
recognition system* .
