Forward Collision Alert
(FCA) System
If equipped, FCA may help avoid or
reduce the harm caused by front-end
crashes. FCA provides a green
indicator,
V, when a vehicle is
detected ahead. This indicator
displays amber if you follow a vehicle
much too closely. When approaching a
vehicle ahead too quickly, FCA
provides a flashing red alert on the
windshield and rapidly beeps or pulses
the driver seat.

Forward Automatic
Braking (FAB)
If the vehicle has Adaptive Cruise
Control (ACC), it also has FAB, which
includes Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA).
When the system detects a vehicle
ahead in your path that is traveling in
the same direction that you may be
about to crash into, it can provide a
boost to braking or automatically brake the vehicle. This can help avoid
or lessen the severity of crashes when
driving in a forward gear.

Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
If equipped, LKA may help avoid
crashes due to unintentional lane
departures. It may assist by gently
turning the steering wheel if the
vehicle approaches a detected lane
marking without using a turn signal in
that direction. It may also provide a
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) alert
as the lane marking is crossed. The
system will not assist or alert if it
detects that you are actively steering.
Override LKA by turning the steering
wheel. LKA uses a camera to detect
lane markings between 60 km/h (37
mph) and 180 km/h (112 mph).

Lane Change Alert (LCA)
If equipped, the LCA system is a
lane-changing aid that assists drivers
with avoiding lane change crashes
that occur with moving vehicles in the
side blind zone (or spot) areas or with
vehicles rapidly approaching these
areas from behind. The LCA warning
display will light up in the
corresponding outside side mirror and
will flash if the turn signal is on. The
Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA) system
is included as part of the LCA system.

Rear Vision Camera (RVC)
If equipped, RVC displays a view of
the area behind the vehicle on the
infotainment display when the vehicle
is shifted into R (Reverse) to aid with
parking and low-speed backing
maneuvers.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert
(RCTA) System
If equipped, the RCTA system uses a
triangle with an arrow displayed on
the infotainment display to warn of
traffic behind your vehicle that may
cross your vehicle's path while in
R (Reverse). In addition, beeps will
sound, or the driver seat will pulse.

Parking Assist
If equipped, Rear Parking Assist (RPA)
uses sensors on the rear bumper to
assist with parking and avoiding
objects while in R (Reverse).
It operates at speeds less than 8 km/h
(5 mph). RPA may display a warning
triangle on the Rear Vision Camera
screen and a graphic on the
instrument cluster to provide the
object distance. In addition, multiple
beeps or seat pulses may occur if very
close to an object.
The vehicle may also have the Front
Parking Assist system. See
Assistance Systems for Parking or
Backing 0215.
Reverse Automatic
Braking (RAB)
If the vehicle has Adaptive Cruise
Control (ACC) it also has the RAB
system, which is designed to help
avoid or reduce the harm caused by
backing crashes when the vehicle is
shifted into R (Reverse). If the system
detects the vehicle is backing too fast
to avoid a crash with a detected object
behind your vehicle in your path, it
may automatically brake hard to
a stop.

Power Outlets
The accessory power outlets can be
used to plug in electrical equipment,
such as a cell phone or MP3 player.
The vehicle has two accessory power
outlets:

Inside the instrument panel
storage area below the climate
control system. .
On the rear of the center floor
console.
Lift the cover to access the accessory
power outlet.

Sunroof
If equipped, the ignition must be in
ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY,
or Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
must be active, to operate the sunroof.

116 INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS
The DLC is under the instrument
panel to the left of the steering wheel.
Connecting devices that are not used
to perform an Emissions Inspection/
Maintenance test or to service the
vehicle may affect vehicle operation.
SeeAdd-On Electrical Equipment 0230.
See your dealer if assistance is needed.
The vehicle may not pass
inspection if:
. The light is on when the engine is
running.
. The light does not come on when
the ignition is in Service
Only Mode.
. Critical emission control systems
have not been completely
diagnosed. If this happens, the
vehicle would not be ready for
inspection and might require
several days of routine driving
before the system is ready for
inspection. This can happen if the
12-volt battery has recently been
replaced or run down, or if the
vehicle has been recently serviced. See your dealer if the vehicle will not
pass or cannot be made ready for
the test.
Brake System Warning
Light
The vehicle brake system consists of
two hydraulic circuits. If one circuit is
not working, the remaining circuit can
still work to stop the vehicle. For
normal braking performance, both
circuits need to be working.
If the warning light comes on, there is
a problem with the braking system.
Have the brake system inspected
right away.
This light should come on briefly
when the engine is started. If it does
not come on then, have it fixed so it
will be ready to warn you if there is a
problem. If the light comes on and stays on,
there is a base brake problem.
{Warning
The brake system might not be
working properly if the brake
system warning light is on. Driving
with the brake system warning light
on can lead to a crash. If the light is
still on after the vehicle has been
pulled off the road and carefully
stopped, have the vehicle towed for
service.
Parking Brake Light
The parking brake status light comes
on when the parking brake is applied.
If the light continues flashing after
the parking brake is released, or while
driving, there is a problem with the
electric parking brake system or

another system. A message may also
display in the Driver Information
Center (DIC). SeeBrake System
Messages 0128.
If the light does not come on,
or remains flashing, see your dealer.
Service Electric Parking
Brake Light
This light should come on briefly
when starting the vehicle. If it does
not come on, have it fixed so it will be
ready to warn if there is a problem.
If this light stays on, there is a
problem with the Electric Parking
Brake system or another system on
the vehicle that is causing the parking
brake system to work at a reduced
level. The vehicle can still be driven,
but should be taken to a dealer as
soon as possible. See the information for the Electric Parking Brake under
Parking Brake (Manual)
0195 or
Parking Brake (Electric) 0196. If a
message displays in the Driver
Information Center (DIC), see Brake
System Messages 0128.
Antilock Brake System
(ABS) Warning Light
This light comes on briefly when the
engine is started.
If the light does not come on, have it
fixed so it will be ready to warn if
there is a problem.
If the light comes on while driving,
stop as soon as it is safely possible
and turn off the vehicle. Then start
the engine again to reset the system.
If the ABS light stays on, or comes on
again while driving, the vehicle needs
service. A chime may also sound when
the light comes on steady. If the ABS light is the only light on,
the vehicle has regular brakes, but the
antilock brakes are not functioning.
If both the ABS and the brake system
warning light are on, the vehicle's
antilock brakes are not functioning
and there is a problem with the
regular brakes. See your dealer for
service.

Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
Light
If available, this light comes on briefly
while starting the vehicle.
If it does not come on, have the
vehicle serviced.
This light is green if LKA is available
to assist.

unnecessary accessories to allow the
battery to recharge.
LOW BATTERY
This message is displayed when the
battery voltage is low. See
Battery0255.
SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING
SYSTEM
This message is displayed when there
is a fault in the battery charging
system. Take the vehicle to your
dealer for service.
TRANSPORT MODE ON
This message is displayed when the
vehicle is in transport mode. Some
features can be disabled while in this
mode, including Remote Keyless
Entry (RKE), remote start, and the
vehicle alarm system. Take the vehicle
to your dealer for service to turn
transport mode off.
Brake System Messages
BRAKE FLUID LOW
This message is displayed when the
brake fluid level is low. See Brake
Fluid 0254.
STEP ON BRAKE TO RELEASE
PARK BRAKE
This message is displayed if you
attempt to release the Electric Parking
Brake without the brake pedal applied.

RELEASE PARKING BRAKE
This message is displayed if the
Electric Parking Brake is on while the
vehicle is in motion. See Parking Brake
(Manual) 0195 orParking Brake

SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST
This message may be displayed when
there is a problem with the brake
boost assist system. When this
message is displayed, the brake boost
assist motor might be heard operating
and you might notice pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal under
these conditions. Take the vehicle to
your dealer for service.
SERVICE PARKING BRAKE
This message is displayed when there
is a problem with the parking brake.
Take the vehicle to your dealer for
service.
Cruise Control Messages
ADAPTIVE CRUISE SET TO XXX
This message displays when the
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) speed is
set. See
Adaptive Cruise Control 0207.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
This message displays when
attempting to activate Adaptive Cruise
Control (ACC) when it is temporarily
unavailable. The ACC system does not
need service.
This can occur under the following
conditions:
.
The radar is not clean. Keep the
radar sensors free of mud, dirt,
snow, ice, and slush. Clean the

Automatic Braking (FAB) has been

FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM
REDUCED
This message displays when Forward
Automatic Braking (FAB) has been set
to the Alert setting. This setting
disables most FAB functions. See
Forward Automatic Braking

FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM
UNAVAILABLE
This message displays when Forward
Automatic Braking (FAB) has been
unavailable for some time. FAB does
not need service. This message can
display under the following
conditions: .
The front of the vehicle or
windshield is not clean. Keep
these areas clean and free of mud,
dirt, snow, ice, and slush. For
cleaning instructions, see Exterior
Care 0298.
. Heavy rain or snow is interfering
with the object detection
performance.
This message may also be displayed if
there is a problem with the StabiliTrak
system. See Traction Control/Electronic
Stability Control 0198.
FORWARD COLLISION ALERT OFF
This message displays when the
Forward Collision Alert has been
turned off.
FRONT CAMERA BLOCKED CLEAN
WINDSHIELD
This message displays when the
camera is blocked. Cleaning the
outside of the windshield behind the
rearview mirror may correct the issue.
The Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and the
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
system will not operate. Adaptive
Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Alert (FCA), and Forward
Automatic Braking (FAB) may not
work or may not work as well.
LANE CHANGE ALERT OFF
This message indicates that the driver
has turned the Side Blind Zone Alert
(SBZA) and Lane Change Alert (LCA)
systems off.
LANE KEEPING ASSIST
UNAVAILABLE
This message displays when the Lane
Keep Assist (LKA) and Lane Departure
Warning (LDW) system is temporarily
unavailable. The LKA system does not
need service.
This message could be due to the
camera being blocked. Cleaning the
outside of the windshield behind the
rearview mirror may correct the issue.
REAR AUTO BRAKE/PARK
ASSIST OFF
This message displays when the
Parking Assist system has been turned
off or when there is a temporary
condition causing the system to be
disabled.

REAR AUTO BRAKE AND PARK
ASSIST UNAVAILABLE
This message displays when
attempting to activate the parking and
backing features of the Driver
Assistance System when they are
temporarily unavailable. The system
does not need service.
This can occur under the following
conditions:
.The radar is not clean. Keep the
radar sensors free of mud, dirt,
snow, ice, and slush. Clean the
entire front and/or rear of the
vehicle. For cleaning instructions,
see Exterior Care 0298.
. Heavy rain or snow is interfering
with the radar object detection or
camera performance.

SERVICE FORWARD COLLISION
SYSTEM
If this message displays, take the
vehicle to your dealer to repair the
system. Adaptive Cruise Control
(ACC), Forward Collision Alert (FCA),
and/or Forward Automatic Braking (FAB) may not work. Do not use these
systems until the vehicle has been
repaired.
SERVICE DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEM
If this message displays, take the
vehicle to your dealer to repair the
system.

SYSTEM
If this message remains on after
continued driving, the vehicle needs
service. Side Blind Zone Alert (SBZA),
Lane Change Alert (LCA), and Rear
Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) features
will not work. Take the vehicle to your
dealer.
