Your Chevrolet has a brake-transmission shift interlock.
You have to fully apply your regular brake before
you
can shift from PARK (P) when the ignition is in the
RUN position.
See “Automatic Transmission” in the
Index.
If you
canil6t shift out of PARK (P), ease pressure on
the shift lever
-- push the shift lever all the way into
PARK (P) and release the shift lever button as you
maintain brake application. Then press the shift lever
button and move the shift lever into the gear you wish.
If you ever hold the brake pedal down but still can’t
shift out of PARK
(P), try this:
1. Turn the key to OFF.
2. Apply and hold the brake.
3. Shift to NEUTRAL (N).
4. Start the vehicle and then shift to the drive gear YOU
want.
5. Have the vehicle fixed as soon as you can.
Parking Your Vehicle
(Manual Transmission)
Before you get out of your vehicle, put your manual
transmission in REVERSE (R) and firmly apply the
parking brake.
If your vehicle is equipped to tow a trailer, see “Towing

some things to know.
Follow the proper steps to be sure your vehicle won’t
move, See “Shifting Into PARK (P)” in the Index.
If
you are parking on a hill and if you’re pulling a

With cruise control, you can maintain a speed of about
25 mph (40 km/h) or more without keeping your foot on
the accelerator. This can really help on long trips. Cruise
control does not work at speeds below about
25 mph
(40 km/h).
When you apply your brakes, or push the clutch pedal, if
you have a manual transmission, the cruise control shuts
Off.
If your vehicle is in cruise control when the optional
ASR System begins to limit wheel spin, the cruise
control will automatically disengage. (See
“ASR
System’’ in the Index). When road conditions allow you
to safely use it again,
you may turn the cruise back on.

Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine A/C: Use for normal cooling on hot days. This setting
cools outside air and directs it through the upper air
vents.
The air conditioner compressor operates in
MAX, NC,
BI-LEVEL, BLEND and DEFROST when the outside
temperature
is above freezing. When the air conditioner
is on, you may sometimes notice slight changes in your
vehicle’s engine speed and power. This is normal,
because the system is designed to cycle the compressor
on and
off to keep the desired cooling and help fuel
economy.
Cooling
The air conditioner works best if you keep your
windows closed. On very hot days, open the windows
just long enough for the hot air to escape.
1. Turn the air control knob to A/C for normal coolinn.
For faster cooling move the knob to

setting.
2. Turn the temperature control knob to a comfortable
3. Turn the fan control knob to the desired speed.
Rear Window Defogger (Option)
The rear window defogger
uses a warming grid to
remove fog
from the rear
window.
Press the right side of the switch to turn
on the defogger.
An indicator light will come on to remind you that the
defogger is on. The defogger will
turn off automatically
after about ten minutes of use.
If you turn it on again,
the defogger will operate for about five minutes only.
You can also turn the defogger
off by pressing the left
side of the switch.
Do not attach anything like a temporary vehicle license
or a decal across the defogger grid on the rear window.
