J/0(Call/Mute):For vehicles with
Bluetooth®and OnStar®, press and
hold to interact with those systems.
See Bluetooth on page 7-24 or
“OnStar,” if equipped. Press and
release to mute the system. Press it
again to turn the sound back on.
K(End Call): Press to reject an
incoming call, or end a current call.
v+ orv− (Volume): Move the
thumbwheel up or down to increase
or to decrease the volume.
Horn
Pressaon the steering wheel pad
to sound the horn.
Windshield Wiper/Washer
The windshield wiper lever is on the
right side of the steering column.
Move the lever up or down to select
the wiper speed.
8 (Mist): Single wipe, briefly move
the lever down. The lever returns to
its starting position when released.
For several wipes, hold the
lever down.
9 (Off): Turns the windshield
wipers off. 3
(Adjustable Interval Wipes):
Sets a delay between wipes. Move
the switch on top of the lever left for
less frequent wipes or right for more
frequent wipes.
a(Low): Slow wipes.
1(High): Fast wipes.
Clear ice and snow from the wiper
blades before using them. If frozen
to the windshield, carefully loosen or
thaw them. Damaged wiper blades
should be replaced. See Wiper
Blade Replacement on page 10-25.
Heavy snow or ice can overload the
wiper motor. A circuit breaker will
stop the motor until it cools down.
Rainsense™
{Caution
Going through an automatic car
wash with the wipers on can
damage them. Turn the wipers off
when going through an automatic
car wash.

If equipped with Rainsense™
windshield wipers, the moisture
sensor is next to the inside rearview
mirror and is mounted on the
windshield. When active, these
sensors are able to detect moisture
on the windshield and automatically
turn on the wipers.
To turn on the Rainsense feature,
the wipers must be set to one of the
five delay settings on the lever.
Each of the five settings adjusts the
sensitivity of the sensor.
Since different drivers have different
setting preferences, it is
recommended that the mid-range
setting (position 3) be used initially.
For more wipes, select the higher
settings; for fewer wipes, select the
lower settings located closer to the
off position on the lever.
The sensor automatically controls
the frequency of the wipes from the
off setting to the high speed setting
according to the weather conditions.The wipers can be left in a
Rainsense mode even when it is not
raining.
Windshield Washer
{Warning
In freezing weather, do not use
the washer until the windshield is
warmed. Otherwise the washer
fluid can form ice on the
windshield, blocking your vision.
Pull the windshield wiper lever to
spray windshield washer fluid and
activate the wipers. The wipers will
continue until the lever is released
or the maximum wash time is
reached.
Rear Window Wiper/
Washer
The rear wiper and rear wash button
is on the instrument panel above the
climate control system.
=(Rear Wiper/Washer): Press to
wash and wipe the rear window.
The rear window washer uses the
same reservoir as the windshield
washer. Check the windshield
washer reservoir level if the front
windshield can be worked, but no
fluid is sprayed when the rear
washer is activated. See Washer
Fluid on page 10-20.
5(Delay): Press to turn the
delayed wiping on or off.
Compass
The vehicle may have a compass in
the Driver Information Center (DIC).
Compass Zone
The zone is set to Zone 8 upon
leaving the factory. Your dealer will
set the correct zone for your
location.
Under certain circumstances, such
as during a long distance
cross-country trip or moving to a
new state or province, it will be

necessary to compensate for
compass variance by resetting the
zone through the DIC if the zone is
not set correctly.
Compass variance is the difference
between the earth's magnetic north
and true geographic north. If the
compass is not set to the zone
where you live, the compass may
give false readings. The compass
must be set to the variance zone in
which the vehicle is traveling.
To adjust for compass variance, use
the following procedure:

Procedure
1. Do not set the compass zonewhen the vehicle is moving. Only
set it when the vehicle is in
P (Park).
Press the vehicle information
button until PRESS
VTO SET
COMPASS ZONE: ## displays.
2. Find the vehicle's current location and variance zone
number on the map.
Zones 1 through 15 are
available.
3. Press and hold the set/reset button to scroll through and
select the appropriate
variance zone.
4. Press the trip/fuel button until the vehicle heading, for
example, N for North, is
displayed in the DIC. 5. If calibration is necessary,
calibrate the compass. See
“Compass Calibration
Procedure” following.
Compass Calibration
The compass can be manually
calibrated. Only calibrate the
compass in a magnetically clean
and safe location, such as an open
parking lot, where driving the
vehicle in circles is not a danger.
It is suggested to calibrate away
from tall buildings, utility wires,
manhole covers, or other industrial
structures, if possible.
If CAL should ever appear in the
DIC display, the compass should be
calibrated.
If the DIC display does not show a
heading, for example, N for North,
or the heading does not change
after making turns, there may be a
strong magnetic field interfering with
the compass. Such interference
may be caused by a magnetic CB or
cell phone antenna mount, a
magnetic emergency light, magnetic

note pad holder, or any other
magnetic item. Turn off the vehicle,
move the magnetic item, then turn
on the vehicle and calibrate the
compass.
To calibrate the compass, use the
following procedure:
Compass Calibration Procedure
1. Before calibrating the compass,make sure the compass is set to
the variance zone in which the
vehicle is located. See
“Compass Variance (Zone)
Procedure” earlier in this
section.
Do not operate any switches
such as window, sunroof,
climate controls, seats, etc.
during the calibration procedure.
2. Press the vehicle information button until PRESS
VTO
CALIBRATE COMPASS
displays.
3. Press the set/reset button to start the compass calibration. 4. The DIC will display
CALIBRATING COMPASS:
TURN IN CIRCLES. Drive the
vehicle in tight circles at less
than 8 km/h (5 mph) to complete
the calibration. The DIC will
display COMPASS
CALIBRATION COMPLETE for a
few seconds when the
calibration is complete. The DIC
display will then return to the
previous menu.
Clock
To set the time and date:
1. Turn the ignition key to ACC/ACCESSORY or ON/RUN.
Press
Oto turn the radio on.
2. Press
Hand HR, MIN, MM, DD,
and YYYY (hour, minute, month,
day, and year) display.
3. Press the softkey below any one of the tabs to be changed. 4. To increase the time or date do
one of the following:
.Press the softkey below the
selected tab.
.Press¨SEEK, or\FWD.
.Turnfclockwise.
5. To decrease the time or date do one of the following:
.Press©SEEK orsREV.
.Turnfcounterclockwise.
The date does not automatically
display. To see the date press
H
while the radio is on. The date with
display times out after a few
seconds and goes back to the
normal radio and time display.

To change the time default setting
from 12 hour to 24 hour or to
change the date default setting from
month/day/year to day/month/year:
1. Press
Hand then the softkey
below the forward arrow label to
select the time 12H and 24H,
and the date MM/DD/YYYY
(month, day, and year) and DD/
MM/YYYY (day, month, and
year) display.
2. Press the softkey below the desired option.
3. Press
Hagain to apply the
selected default, or let the
screen time out.
Power Outlets
The accessory power outlets can be
used to plug in electrical equipment,
such as a cell phone or MP3 player.
The power outlets are inside the
center floor console, on the rear of
the center floor console, and in the
rear cargo compartment. The power outlet located in the rear
cargo area is powered at all times.
Remove the cover to access and
replace when not in use.
{Caution
Leaving electrical equipment
plugged in for an extended period
of time while the vehicle is off will
drain the battery. Always unplug
electrical equipment when not in
use and do not plug in equipment
that exceeds the maximum
20 amp rating.
Certain electrical accessories may
not be compatible with the
accessory power outlet and could
overload vehicle or adapter fuses.
If a problem is experienced, see
your dealer.
When adding electrical equipment,
be sure to follow the installation
instructions included with the
equipment. See Add-On Electrical
Equipment on page 9-47.
{Caution
Hanging heavy equipment from
the power outlet can cause
damage not covered by the
vehicle warranty. The power
outlets are designed for
accessory power plugs only, such
as cell phone charge cords.

Warning Lights,
Gauges, and
Indicators
Warning lights and gauges can
signal that something is wrong
before it becomes serious enough
to cause an expensive repair or
replacement. Paying attention to the
warning lights and gauges could
prevent injury.Warning lights come on when there
could be a problem with a vehicle
function. Some warning lights come
on briefly when the engine is started
to indicate they are working.
Gauges can indicate when there
could be a problem with a vehicle
function. Often gauges and warning
lights work together to indicate a
problem with the vehicle.
When one of the warning lights
comes on and stays on while
driving, or when one of the gauges
shows there may be a problem,
check the section that explains what
to do. Follow this manual's advice.
Waiting to do repairs can be costly
and even dangerous.

Speedometer
The speedometer shows the
vehicle's speed in either kilometers
per hour (km/h) or miles per
hour (mph).
Odometer
The odometer shows how far the
vehicle has been driven, in either
kilometers or miles.
This vehicle has a tamper-resistant
odometer. If the vehicle needs a
new odometer installed, the new
one is set to the mileage of the old
odometer. If this is not possible, it is
set at zero and a label is put on the
driver door to show the old mileage
reading.
Trip Odometer
The trip odometer can record the
number of miles, or kilometers,
traveled for up to two trips.
Cycle between the odometer and
trip odometers A and B by pressing
the reset button located in the lowerright area of the speedometer. Press
the reset button to tell how many
miles or kilometers have been
recorded on either Trip A or Trip B
since the trip odometer was last set
back to zero.
To reset each trip odometer to zero,
press and hold the reset button. The
reset button resets only the trip
odometer that is being displayed.
Each trip odometer must be reset
individually.
Tachometer
The tachometer displays the engine
speed in revolutions per
minute (rpm).

When the ignition is on, the fuel
gauge indicates how much fuel is
left in the tank.
When the indicator nears empty, the
low fuel light comes on. There is still
a little fuel left, but the fuel tank
should be refilled soon. SeeLow
Fuel Warning Light on page 5-21 for
more information.
An arrow on the fuel gauge
indicates the side of the vehicle the
fuel door is on.
Here are four things that some
owners ask about. None of these
means the fuel gauge is not working
properly:
.At the service station, the fuel
pump shuts off before the gauge
reads full.
.It takes a little more or less fuel
to fill up than the gauge
indicated. For example, the
gauge may have indicated the
tank was half full, but it actually took a little more or less than
half the tank's capacity to fill
the tank.
.The gauge moves a little while
turning a corner or speeding up.
.The gauge takes a few seconds
to stabilize after the ignition is
turned on, but it goes back to
empty when the ignition is
turned off.

Safety Belt Reminders
Driver Safety Belt Reminder
Light
There is a driver safety belt
reminder light on the instrument
cluster.
When the vehicle is started this light
flashes and a chime may come on
to remind the driver to fasten their
safety belt. Then the light stays on
solid until the belt is buckled. This
cycle may continue several times if
the driver remains or becomes
unbuckled while the vehicle is
moving.
If the driver safety belt is buckled,
neither the light nor the chime
comes on.
Passenger Safety Belt
Reminder Light
There may be a passenger safety
belt reminder light near the
passenger airbag status indicator.

For vehicles equipped with the
passenger safety belt warning light,
when the vehicle is started this light
flashes and a chime may come on
to remind passengers to fasten their
safety belt. Then the light stays on
solid until the belt is buckled. This
cycle continues several times if the
passenger remains or becomes
unbuckled while the vehicle is
moving.
If the passenger safety belt is
buckled, neither the chime nor the
light comes on.
The front passenger safety belt
warning light and chime may turn on
if an object is put on the seat such
as a briefcase, handbag, grocery
bag, laptop, or other electronic
device. To turn off the warning lightand/or chime, remove the object
from the seat or buckle the
safety belt.
Airbag Readiness Light
This light shows if there is an
electrical problem with the airbag
system. The system check includes
the airbag sensor(s), passenger
sensing system, the pretensioners,
the airbag modules, the wiring, and
the crash sensing and diagnostic
module. For more information on the
airbag system, see
Airbag System
on page 3-17.
The airbag readiness light comes on
for several seconds when the
vehicle is started. If the light does
not come on then, have it fixed
immediately.
{Warning
If the airbag readiness light stays
on after the vehicle is started or
comes on while driving, it means
the airbag system might not be
working properly. The airbags in
the vehicle might not inflate in a
crash, or they could even inflate
without a crash. To help avoid
injury, have the vehicle serviced
right away.
If there is a problem with the airbag
system, a Driver Information Center
(DIC) message may also come on.
