Governing Law
The above terms and conditionsshall be governed by the laws of theState of Illinois (with respect to useof Data for the Americas and/or theAsia Pacific territories), and the lawsof The Netherlands (with respect toData for the Middle East, Africa,Russia and Europe territories),without giving effect to (i) its conflictof laws provisions, or (ii) the UnitedNations Convention for Contracts forthe International Sale of Goods,which is explicitly excluded. Youagree to submit to the jurisdiction of
the State of Illinois for any and alldisputes, claims and actions arisingfrom or in connection with the Dataprovided to you hereunder.

Dual-Zone Mode :Allows differenttemperatures to be set for the driverand passenger sides.
Enter Dual-Zone mode by adjustingthe passenger side temperaturewhen in Single-Zone mode.
Air Delivery Mode Controls :
PressY,),-,or[to change
the current airflow mode. Thecurrent mode selection appears inthe infotainment display. Changingthe mode cancels the automaticoperation and the system goes intosemi-automatic operation. PressAUTO to return to full automaticoperation.
Select from the following:
Y:Air is directed to the instrumentpanel outlets and console outlet.
):Air is divided between theinstrument panel outlets, consoleoutlet and the floor outlets. Coolerair is directed to the upper outletsand warmer air to the floor outlets.
[:Air is directed to the flooroutlets with some air directed to theouter instrument panel, windshield,and side window outlets.
-:Air is directed to the windshield,floor and side window outlets. Usethis mode to clear the windows offog or moisture and warm thepassengers.
5FRONT :Press to turn the
defrost on or off. The5FRONT
indicator appears in the display.Aportionoftheairisdirectedtothewindshield and side window outlets,with some air directed to the outerinstrument panel outlets.
For best results, clear all snow andice from the windshield beforedefrosting.
Air Conditioning
#:Press to turn the airconditioning system on or off. The#appears on the infotainmentdisplay when the air conditioning ison. When the air conditioning is
turned off,#OFF appears on the
infotainment display.
The air conditioning systemremoves moisture and heat fromthe air.
The air conditioning mightautomatically turn off during heavyacceleration, abnormal systempressure or very cold outsidetemperatures.
When-,h,or5FRONTis
selected, the air conditioning isautomatically switched on toimprove defogging performance andremove moisture from the air.
Recirculation
h:Press to change the air intakebetween recirculated air and outside
air.happears on the
infotainment display whenrecirculation is activated.
The recirculation mode recyclesinterior air and is not recommendedfor extended use. If it is used for along period of time, the systemautomatically lets some outside airinto the vehicle for ventilation.
Do not use the recirculation mode ifoccupants are smoking.
The recirculation mode cannot beturned on in defrost mode.

Starting and
Operating
New Vehicle Break-In
Use the following precautions toimprove performance:
.For the first 1000 km (621 mi):
Do not make full throttle starts.
Avoid downshifting to brake orslow the vehicle.
Do not drive at any one constantspeed.
Use moderate acceleration inlower gears.
Avoid vehicle speeds above11 0 k m / h ( 6 8 m p h ) .
.Between the first 1000 km(621 mi) and 5000 km (3,107 mi),heavy acceleration in lowergears may be used.
Vehicle speeds above 110 km/h(68 mph) should be limited tofive minutes per use.
.Avoid making hard stops for thefirst 350 km (217 mi) to avoidpremature wear and earlyreplacement of brakes.
Ignition Positions
The vehicle has an electronickeyless ignition with pushbuttonstart.
Pressing the button cycles it throughthree modes: ACC/ACCESSORY,ON/RUN/START, and Stopping theEngine/OFF.
The transmitter must be in thevehicle for the system to operate.If the pushbutton start is not

2. Hold the brake pedal down andpress the shift lever buttonagain.
3. Move the shift lever to thedesired position.
If you are still having a problemshifting, see your dealer.
Shift Lock Manual Release
If jump starting the vehicle did notwork, the shift lock manual releasemust be used.
To a c c e s s t h e s h i f t l o c k m a n u a lrelease:
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Remove the trim from thecenter console, in front of theshift lever.
3. Insert a tool into the opening asfar as it will go, while at thesame time, moving the shiftlever out of P (Park). If P (Park)is selected again, the shift leverwill be locked again. Have thecause of the problem fixed byyour dealer.
4. Refit the trim to the centerconsole.
Parking
With a manual transmission, beforegetting out of the vehicle, move theshift lever into R (Reverse) if parkingon a downhill slope. On a levelsurface or an uphill slope, use1(First) gear. Apply the parkingbrake. Turn the wheels toward thecurb for a downhill slope, or awayfrom the curb for an uphill slope.Once the shift lever has beenplaced into gear with the clutchpedal pressed in, turn the ignition toOFF, and release the clutch.
Parking over Things
That Burn
{Warning
Things that can burn could touch
hot exhaust parts under the
vehicle and ignite. Do not park
over papers, leaves, dry grass,
or other things that can burn.

button before shifting from P (Park)when the ignition is in ON/RUN orACC/ACCESSORY. If the vehiclewill not shift out of P (Park), easepressure on the shift lever and pushthe shift lever all the way intoP(Park) while maintaining brakeapplication. Then press the shiftlever button and move the shift leverinto another gear. SeeShifting outof Park0233.
R:Use this gear to back up.
At low vehicle speeds, R (Reverse)can also be used to rock the vehicleback and forth to get out of snow,ice, or sand without damaging thetransmission. SeeIf the Vehicle IsStuck0225for additionalinformation.
Caution
Shifting to R (Reverse) while the
vehicle is moving forward could
damage the transmission. The
repairs would not be covered by
the vehicle warranty. Shift to
R(Reverse) only after the vehicle
is stopped.
N:In this position, the engine doesnot connect with the wheels. Torestart the engine when the vehicleis already moving, useN(Neutral) only.
{Warning
Shifting into a drive gear while the
engine is running at high speed is
dangerous. Unless your foot is
firmly on the brake pedal, the
vehicle could move very rapidly.

people or objects. Do not shift
into a drive gear while the engine
is running at high speed.
Caution
Shifting out of P (Park) or
N(Neutral) with the engine
running at high speed may
damage the transmission. The
repairs would not be covered by
the vehicle warranty. Be sure the
engine is not running at high
speed when shifting the vehicle.
D:Use this position for generaldriving. The transmissionautomatically selects theappropriate gear according to thecurrent load and driving conditions.
Caution
If the vehicle does not shift gears,
the transmission could be
damaged. Have the vehicle
serviced right away.

To i n s p e c t o r r e p l a c e t h e e n g i n e a i rcleaner/filter:
1. Air Duct Clamp Screw
2. Retaining Clips
1. Open the hood. SeeHood0273.
2. Disconnect the outlet duct byloosening the screw (1) on theair duct clamp.
3. Remove the retaining clips (2)securing the cover on the aircleaner/filter housing.
4. Pull straight up on the cover;while holding the cover,remove the air cleaner/filter.
5. Inspect or replace the aircleaner/filter. SeeMaintenanceReplacement Parts0359.
6. Reverse Steps 2–5toreinstallthe cover.
{Warning
Operating the engine with the air
cleaner/filter off can cause you or
others to be burned. The air
cleaner not only cleans the air; it
helps to stop flames if the engine
backfires. Use caution when
working on the engine and do not
drive with the air cleaner/filter off.
Caution
If the air cleaner/filter is off, dirt
can easily get into the engine,
which could damage it. Always
have the air cleaner/filter in place
when you are driving.

If improper coolant mixture,
inhibitors, or additives are used in
the vehicle cooling system, the
engine could overheat and be
damaged. Too much water in the
mixture can freeze and crack
engine cooling parts. The repairs
would not be covered by the
vehicle warranty. Use only the
proper mixture of engine coolant
for the cooling system. See
Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants0358.
Never dispose of engine coolant byputting it in the trash, pouring it onthe ground, or pouring it intosewers, streams or bodies of water.Have the coolant changed by anauthorized service center, familiarwith legal requirements regardingused coolant disposal. This will helpprotect the environment and yourhealth.
Checking Coolant
The vehicle must be on a levelsurface when checking the coolantlevel.
To c h e c k c o o l a n t :
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Locate the coolant recoveryreservoir. SeeEngineCompartment Overview0274.
3. Turn the coolant recoveryreservoir dipstick capcounterclockwise and slowlypull out the dipstick. There aremaximum and minimummarkings on the dipstick.
4. When the engine is cold, thecoolant level should be at orabove the minimum mark (1).After the vehicle has beendriven and the engine is atnormal operating temperature,the level should be somewherebetween half full and themaximum mark (2).
5. If the coolant level is correct,replace the coolant recoveryreservoir dipstick cap and turnclockwise to secure.

How to Add Coolant to the
Coolant Recovery Bottle
{Warning
Yo u c a n b e b u r n e d i f y o u s p i l l
coolant on hot engine parts.
Coolant contains ethylene glycol
and it will burn if the engine parts
are hot enough. Do not spill
coolant on a hot engine.
Caution
This vehicle has a specific
coolant fill procedure. Failure to
follow this procedure could cause
the engine to overheat and be
severely damaged.
To a d d c o o l a n t :
1. Turn the engine coolantrecovery reservoir dipstick capcounterclockwise 1/8 of a turnand slowly pull out the dipstick.
2. Pour the coolant into theengine coolant recoveryreservoir.
3. When the level is correct, asper the markings on thedipstick, replace the coolantrecovery reservoir dipstick capand turn clockwise to secure.
How to Add Coolant to the
Radiator
{Warning

coolant on hot engine parts.

hot cooling system can blow out
and burn you badly. They are
under pressure, and if you turn
the radiator cap—even a
little—they can come out at high
speed. Never turn the cap when
the cooling system, including the
radiator cap, is hot. Wait for the
cooling system and radiator cap
to cool if you ever have to turn
the pressure cap.

If no coolant is visible in the enginecoolant recovery reservoir, addcoolant as follows:
1. Locate the radiator cap. SeeEngine Compartment Overview0274.
2. Cover the radiator cap with athick cloth and turn it slowlycounterclockwise and remove.
3. If there is no coolant visible orthe level is low, slowly fill thesystem through the radiatorcap opening with a 50/50 mixture of clean, drinkablewater and DEX-COOL coolantuntil full.
Wait 30 seconds for thecoolant to settle and top off ifthe level drops.
Do not spill coolant on theaccessory drive belts.
If a spill occurs, rinse the beltwith fresh water.
4. Start the engine.
5. With the engine idling, top offthe coolant through the radiatorcap opening until full.
Wait 30 seconds for thecoolant to settle and top off ifthe level drops.
6. Once the system is full, put theradiator cap back on by turningclockwise.
7. Turn the engine off.
8. Check the coolant level in theengine coolant recoveryreservoir and fill it until thelevel is at the top mark on thedipstick cap. Filling to this levelprovides additional coolant toallow for any air that may beleft in the cooling system.
Caution
If the pressure cap is not tightly
installed, coolant loss and
possible engine damage may
occur. Be sure the cap is properly
and tightly secured.
Engine Overheating
The vehicle has an indicator to warnof engine overheating.
There is an engine coolanttemperature gauge on your vehicle'sinstrument panel. SeeEngineCoolant Temperature Gauge098.

Headlamp Wiring
An electrical overload may causethe lamps to go on and off, or insome cases to remain off. Have theheadlamp wiring checked right awayif the lamps go on and off orremain off.
Windshield Wipers
If the wiper motor overheats due toheavy snow or ice, the windshieldwipers will stop until the motor coolsand will then restart.
Although the circuit is protectedfrom electrical overload, overloaddue to heavy snow or ice maycause wiper linkage damage.Always clear ice and heavy snowfrom the windshield before using thewindshield wipers.
If the overload is caused by anelectrical problem and not snow orice, be sure to get it fixed.
Fuses
The wiring circuits in the vehicle areprotected from short circuits byfuses. This greatly reduces thechance of fires caused by electricalproblems.
Look at the silver-colored bandinside the fuse. If the band is brokenor melted, replace the fuse. Be sureyou replace a bad fuse with a newone of the identical size and rating.
Fuses of the same amperage canbe temporarily borrowed fromanother fuse location, if a fuse goesout. Replace the fuse as soon asyou can.
Spare fuses of various ratings areprovided in the EngineCompartment Fuse Block and RearCompartment Fuse Block.
