ELECTRONIC ENGINE IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine control system as
soon as the ignition has been switched
off and therefore prevents starting of
the vehicle by anyone who does not
h a v e t h e k e y .
The ignition key has an electronic chip
w h i c h h a s a s p e c i a l c o d e . W h e n t h e
ignition is switched on, the code must
b e r e c o g n i s e d f o r t h e v e h i c l e t o s t a r t .
If the system does not function
correctly, the central locking button
indicator light, situated in the centre
o f t h e f a s c i a , fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e
ignition is switched on (2nd notch),
accompanied by an audible signal
a n d a m e s s a g e o n t h e d i s p l a y .
In this case your vehicle will not
s t a r t .
Contact a CITROËN dealer as soon
a s p o s s i b l e .
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the
driver's door, if the key has been left
i n t h e i g n i t i o n . Make a careful note of the
n u m b e r o f e a c h k e y . T h i s
number is coded on the label
a t t a c h e d t o t h e k e y .
The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
while it is in your pocket as there is a
possibility that it may unlock the vehi-
c l e , w i t h o u t y o u b e i n g a w a r e o f i t .
The remote control does not operate
when the key is in the ignition, even
when the ignition is switched off,
e x c e p t f o r r e p r o g r a m m i n g .
Driving with the doors locked may
make access to the passenger com-
partment by the emergency services
m o r e d i f fi c u l t i n a n e m e r g e n c y .
As a safety precaution (with children
on board), remove the key from the
ignition when you leave the vehicle,
e v e n f o r a s h o r t t i m e .
Do not repeatedly press the buttons
of your remote control out of range of
y o u r v e h i c l e .
You run the risk of stopping it from
working and the remote control would
h a v e t o b e r e p r o g r a m m e d .
W h e n p u r c h a s i n g a s e c o n d - h a n d v e -
hicle, have the key codes memorised
by a CITROËN dealer, to ensure that
the keys in your possession are the
o n l y o n e s w h i c h c a n s t a r t t h e v e h i c l e .

OPENING THE BONNET
Inside the vehicle: pull the handle on
t h e l e f t - h a n d s i d e , u n d e r t h e f a s c i a .
Outside the vehicle: lift the catch
a n d r a i s e t h e b o n n e t .
BONNET STRUT
Secure the strut to hold the bonnet
o p e n .
Before closing the bonnet, replace
t h e s t r u t i n i t s h o u s i n g .
FILLING WITH FUEL
W h e n t h e m i n i m u m
fuel level in the tank is
reached, this warning
l i g h t c o m e s o n . W h e n t h e c a p i s r e m o v e d ,
the right-hand sliding side
d o o r c a n n o t b e o p e n e d .
The key cannot be removed
from the lock until the cap
has been replaced on the
f u e l t a n k .
A label reminds you which type of
f u e l t o u s e .
W h e n y o u fi l l y o u r t a n k , d o n o t c o n -
tinue after the third cut-off of the
p u m p . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e y o u r v e h i c l e
t o m a l f u n c t i o n .
To close
Lower the bonnet and release it at
t h e e n d o f i t s t r a v e l .

Low fuel level
You have enough fuel remaining
to drive for approximately 30 miles
(50 km).
The engine must be switched off
w h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l .
I n s e r t t h e k e y t h e n t u r n i t t o t h e l e f t .
R e m o v e t h e c a p .
The capacity of the tank is approxi-
mately 55 litres for petrol engines
and 60 litres for Diesel engines.

ELECTRIC WINDOWS
Always remove the ignition
key when leaving the vehicle,
even for a short time.
If an obstacle is encountered
while the electric windows
are in use, you must reverse
the movement of the window.
To do this, press the switch
concerned.
When the driver operates the pas-
senger electric window switches, he
must ensure that no one is prevent-
ing correct closing of the windows.
The driver must ensure that passengers
use the electric windows correctly.
Be aware of children when operating
the windows.

You have two options:
- Manual operation:
Press switch 1 . The window stops
as soon as the switch is released.
- A u t o m a t i c o p e r a t i o n ( d r i v e r ) :
Press and hold switch 1 . One
touch completely opens or closes
the window.
Automatic closing only operates when
the engine is running.
REAR WINDOWS
To partially open the rear windows,
tilt the lever and push it fully to lock
the windows in the open position.

CHECKING THE LEVELS

prolonged contact with the skin.

I n a l l c a s e s , t h e o i l s e l e c t e d m u s t m e e t
t h e m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s r e q u i r e m e n t s .
Note: the coolant does not need to
be changed.
For vehicles equipped with a parti-
c l e fi l t e r , t h e e n g i n e f a n m a y o p e r a t e
after the ignition has been switched
o f f , e v e n w h e n t h e e n g i n e i s c o l d .
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = m a x i m u m
N e v e r fi l l p a s t t h i s
mark.
B = m i n i m u m
To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
c o n t r o l s y s t e m s , t h e u s e
of addi-tives in engine oil
is prohibited. Brake fluid level:
T h e b r a k e fl u i d m u s t b e c h a n g e d
a c c o r d i n g t o t h e m a n u f a c t u r e r ' s s e r -
v i c i n g s c h e d u l e .
U s e fl u i d s r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e

standards.

C o o l i n g s y s t e m
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
m a n u f a c t u r e r .
When the engine is warm, the tem-
p e r a t u r e o f t h e c o o l a n t i s c o n t r o l l e d
by the engine fan. As this fan can op-
erate with the ignition key removed
a n d b e c a u s e t h e c o o l i n g s y s t e m i s
p r e s s u r i s e d , w a i t f o r a t l e a s t o n e h o u r
after the engine has stopped before
c a r r y i n g o u t a n y w o r k .
S l a c k e n t h e c a p b y t w o t u r n s t o r e -
l e a s e t h e p r e s s u r e t o p r e v e n t a n y
r i s k o f s c a l d i n g . W h e n t h e p r e s s u r e
has dropped, remove the cap and
t o p u p t h e l e v e l . Used oil

Power steering reservoir
Open the reservoir, with the
e n g i n e a t a m b i e n t t e m p e r a t u r e .
T h e l e v e l s h o u l d a l w a y s b e a b o v e
the MIN. mark and close to the
MAX. mark.
W i n d s c r e e n a n d h e a d l a m p
wash level
F o r b e s t q u a l i t y c l e a n i n g a n d f o r

u p o r r e p l a c e d w i t h w a t e r .
Oil level
C h e c k t h e l e v e l r e g u l a r l y a n d
t o p u p b e t w e e n c h a n g e s . T h e
m a x i m u m c o n s u m p t i o n i s 0 . 5 l
per 600 miles (1 000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
e n g i n e c o l d , u s i n g t h e o i l l e v e l g a u g e
o n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l o r t h e d i p s t i c k .
