Operating faults
Sensor fault
The operation  of  the  laser  sensor  may Â
suf
fer  interference  from  accumulations Â
of
dirt  or  misting  of  the  windscreen. Â
In this case you are warned by the
display
 of  a  message.
Use
 the  windscreen  demisting Â
and regularly clean the area of the
windscreen
 in  front  of  the  sensor.
Do
not  stick  or  otherwise  fix  any Â
object
on  the  windscreen  in  front Â
of
 the  sensor. System fault
In
the  event  of  a  malfunction  of  the Â
system,
you  are  warned  by  an  audible Â
signal
and  the  display  of  the  message Â
"Automatic braking system fault"
.
Have
the  system  checked  by  a Â
CITROËN
 dealer  or  a  qualified Â
workshop.In
the  event  of  an  impact  to  the windscreen at the sensor
,
deactivate
 the  system  and  contact Â
a
CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
workshopÂ
to Â
have
Â
your
Â
windscreen
Â
replaced.
Never
try  to  remove,  adjust  or  test Â
the
 sensor.
o
nly a CITR o Ë n dealer or a
qualified
workshop  is  able  to  work Â
on
 the  system.
When towing a trailer or when the
vehicle
is  being  towed,  the  system Â
must
 be  deactivated.

Cooling system
Only use the fluid recommended by the manufacturer.
Otherwise,
 you  risk  seriously  damaging Â
your
 engine.
When
the  engine  is  warm,  the Â
temperature
of  the  coolant  is  controlled Â
by
 the  engine  fan. Â
As
 this  fan  can Â
operate
with  the  ignition  key  removed Â
and
because  the  cooling  system  is Â
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying
 out  any  work.
Slacken
the  cap  by  1/4  of  a  turn  to Â
release the pressure to prevent any
risk
of  scalding.  When  the  pressure Â
has
dropped,  remove  the  cap  and  top Â
up
 the  level  with  coolant.
If
fluid  has  to  be  added  frequently, Â
this
indicates  a  fault  which  must  be Â
checked
by  a  CITROËN  dealer  as Â
soon
 as  possible.
Power steering fluid level
The vehicle must be parked on level ground with  the  engine  cold.  Unscrew Â
the cap integrated with the gauge and
check
the  level  which  must  be  between Â
the
 MIN  and  MAX  marks. In
order  to  regenerate  the  filter,  you  are advised to drive at a speed higher
than
40  mph  (60  km/h)  for  at  least  five  minutes
as  soon  as  possible,  when Â
traffic
 conditions  permit  (until  the Â
message
 disappears  and  the  service Â
warning
 lamp  goes  off).
d
uring regeneration of the particle
emission
filter,  the  noise  of  a  relay Â
operating
may  be  heard  under  the Â
dashboard.
If
the  message  is  still  displayed  and Â
if
the  service  warning  lamp  remains Â
on, contact a CITR
o Ë n dealer or a
qualified
 workshop.
Topping up
The
Â
level
Â
must
Â
be
Â
between
Â
the
Â
MIN
Â
and
Â
MAX
Â
marks
Â
on
Â
the
Â
expansion
Â
bottle.
Â
If
Â
more
Â
than
Â
1
Â
litre
Â
of
Â
fluid
Â
is
Â
required to top up the level, have the
system
Â
checked
Â
by
Â
a
Â
CITROËN
Â
dealer
Â
or
Â
a
Â
qualified
Â
workshop.
Screenwash and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you use
products  of  the  CITROËN  range.
For
optimum  cleaning  and  to  avoid Â
freezing,
this  fluid  must  not  be  topped Â
up
 or  replaced  with  plain  water.
Capacity
 of  the  screenwash  reservoir: Â
approximately
 3  litres.
If
your  vehicle  is  fitted  with  headlamp Â
washers, the capacity of the reservoir
is
 6  litres.
Diesel additive level
(Diesel with particle
filter)
Topping up
This  additive  must  be  topped  up  by Â
a
CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â
workshop
 without  delay.
Waste products
avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with  the  skin.
Brake
fluid  is  harmful  to  health  and Â
very
 corrosive.
Do
not  dispose  of  used  oil,  brake  fluid Â
or coolant into drains or into the ground
but into the containers dedicated to this
use at a CITR
o Ë n dealer (France) or
an
 authorised  waste  disposal  site.
The
Â
minimum
Â
level
Â
of
Â
this
Â
additive
Â
is indicated by lighting of the service
warning
Â
lamp,
Â
accompanied
Â
by
Â
an
Â
audible
Â
signal
Â
and
Â
a
Â
message
Â
in
Â
the
Â
screen.
When this occurs with the engine
running it is due to the start of
saturation
Â
of
Â
the
Â
particle
Â
filter
Â
(exceptionally prolonged urban type
driving
Â
conditions:
Â
low
Â
speed,
Â
long
Â
traffic
Â
jams,
Â
...).
