GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Intermediate longitudinal position
CITROËN recommends that chil-
dren should travel in the rear seats
o f y o u r v e h i c l e :
- "rearwards-facing" up to the
age of 2,
- "forwards-facing" over the age
o f 2 . When a "rearwards-facing" child
seat is installed on the
front
passenger seat , it is essential
that the passenger airbag is deacti-
v a t e d . O t h e r w i s e , the child would
risk being seriously injured or
k i l l e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e .
INSTALLING A CHILD SEAT USING A THREE POINT SEAT BELT
When a "forwards-facing" child seat is
installed on the front passenger seat ,
adjust the vehicle's seat to the interme-
diate longitudinal position with the seat
back upright and leave the passenger
a i r b a g a c t i v a t e d .

t h e s e p r e c a u t i o n s :
- in accordance with European reg-
ulations, all children under the
age of 12 or less than one and a
half metres tall must travel in ap-
proved child seats suited to their
weight , o n s e a t s fi t t e d w i t h a s e a t
b e l t o r I S O F I X m o u n t i n g s * ,
- statistically, the safest seats in
your vehicle for the transpor-
tation of children are the rear
seats,
- a child weighing less than 9 kg
must travel in the "rearwards-
facing" position both in the front
and in the rear.

AIRBAGS
The airbags do not operate
when the ignition is switched
off.
T h i s e q u i p m e n t w i l l o n l y o p e r a t e o n c e .
I f a s e c o n d i m p a c t o c c u r s ( d u r i n g t h e
s a m e o r a s u b s e q u e n t a c c i d e n t ) , t h e
airbag will not operate.
Front air bags
S y s t e m w h i c h p r o t e c t s t h e h e a d a n d
c h e s t o f t h e d r i v e r a n d f r o n t p a s s e n g e r
i n t h e e v e n t o f a f r o n t i m p a c t .
T h e d r i v e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d i n
the centre of the steering wheel; the
f r o n t p a s s e n g e r ' s a i r b a g i s i n c o r p o r a t e d
in the fascia above the glove box.
Activation
T h e a i r b a g s a r e t r i g g e r e d s i m u l t a n e -
o u s l y , u n l e s s t h e p a s s e n g e r ' s f r o n t a i r
b a g i s d i s a r m e d , i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i -
o u s f r o n t i m p a c t a p p l i e d t o a l l o r p a r t
o f t h e f r o n t i m p a c t z o n e A , i n t h e l o n -
g i t u d i n a l c e n t r e l i n e o f t h e v e h i c l e o n a
h o r i z o n t a l p l a n e a n d d i r e c t e d f r o m t h e
front to the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d t h e f a s -
c i a t o c u s h i o n h i s f o r w a r d m o v e m e n t .
