Your vehicle may be equipped with a “Stop & Start” system, in association with an Electronic Gearbox System; this s h u t s d o w n t h e e n g i n e d u r i n g s t o p p i n g p h a s e s ( r e d l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , t e m p o r a r y h a l t s , e t c . ) .
During these phases, your vehicle uses no fuel, emits no pollut ants and is completely silent.
The engine restarts instantly when you want to move forward ag ain.
Functioning of the “Stop & Start” system:
If you brake to stop your vehicle, the engine shuts down just before the vehicle comes to a complete halt; the green “ECO” warning lamp lights up in the instrument panel. The en gine remains shut down for as long as you keep your foot, even lightly, on the brake pedal.
As you release the brake pedal, the engine restarts automaticall y and instantly. The green “ECO” warning lamp goes out. You can then accelerate to move forward again.

Deactivation of the “Stop & Start” system:
You can if you wish deactivate the “Stop & Start” system, by pressing the “ECO OFF” button located on the left hand side on the central panel.
The warning lamp on the button then comes on, and your vehi cle functions like an ordinary vehicle.
You can reactivate the system with another press on the “ECO OFF” button: The warning lamp on the button goes out.Note: T h e “ S t o p & S t a r t ” s y s t e m r e a c t i v a t e s a u t o m a t i c a l l y e a c h t i m e y o u restart the vehicle.
Batteries
T o o p e r a t e c o r r e c t l y , t h e s y s t e m r e q u i r e s a s p e c i fi c b a t t e r y a n d a l s o a s m a l l a d d i t i o n a l b a t t e r y w h i c h i s s i t u a t e d u n d e r one of the front seats.
For a change of battery, consult a CITROËN dealer.
Remark:
I f t h e r e i s a m a l f u n c t i o n o f t h e “ S t o p & S t a r t ” s y s t e m , t h e “ E C O ” w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s b r i e fl y , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n audible alert. The “ECO OFF” warning lamp lights up.
Contact a CITROËN dealer.
If the engine is in shutdown mode, it can restart at any moment.
Before taking any action under the bonnet, it is imperativ e to switch off the ignition.
Before leaving the vehicle, it is also essential to switch off the ignition.

Parking brake
The parking brake is actioned by pulling on the lever with a force appropriate to any slope.
To facilitate the action on the lever, you are recommended t o press the brake pedal at the same time.
I n a l l c i r c u m s t a n c e s , a s a p r e c a u t i o n a r y m e a s u r e , e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r .
On steep gradients, turn the steering towards the pavement.
To release the brake, pull the lever lightly up, press the button on the end of the lever and return the lever to the fully down position.
Parking brake released
T h e l i g h t i n g o f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p i n d i c a t e s t h a t t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i s i n s u f fi c i e n t o r t h a t t h e b r a k i n g d i s t r i b u -tor is malfunctionning.
It is essential to stop the vehicle.
Consult a CITROËN dealer as soon as possible.
Note: The warning lamp comes on if the parking brake is on or not fu lly released when you switch the ignition on.Note: The lighting of this warning lamp indicates that the parking brake is on or not fully released while the engine is running (at a speed above approximately 5 km/h).

ABS system
The ABS system enhances your safety by preventing the wheels from locking in the event of sudden braking or in conditions of poor road adherence. It enables you to retain control of the steering.
The functioning capability of all the electrical components essential to the ABS is monitored electronically before and during your journey. The ABS warning lamp lights up when you switch on the ignition: it should go out after a few seconds.
If the monitoring warning lamp does not go out, that means that the ABS has disconnected because there is a fault. Also, the fact that the monitoring warning lamp comes on durin g the journey shows that the ABS system is inactive. I n b o t h c a s e s , t h e n o r m a l b r a k i n g s y s t e m r e m a i n s e f fi c i e n t , e x a c t l y a s o n a v e h i c l e w i t h o u t A B S . System of emergency braking assistance
(For vehicles with the ABS system)
The emergency braking assistance system helps you to attain the requ ired braking pressure more rapidly, thus to reduce the stopping distance. It operates as a function of the speed of action on the brake pedal, decreasing the resistance to this action. To prolong this action of the emerg ency braking assistance system, simply keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Emergency braking or sudden deceleration automatically operates th e hazard warning lamps. They will cease to operate automatically, or manually if you press the hazard lamps button on the dashboard.

This system is associated with the ABS and in addition to the ABS. In the event of a loss of control of the vehicle by the driver, the ESP system acts automati-cally on one or more wheels and also on the engine to bring the vehicle back on trajectory.
Operation

Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (vehicle stuck in snow, soft ground, etc.) it may prove useful to deactivate the ESP systems to allow the wheels to spi n and thus regain traction.Press button A.The warning lamp associated with control A (ESP Off) lights up, as does the ESP warning lamp on the instrument panel.
The ESP system is no longer active.
The ESP system reactivates:Automatically after the ignition has been switched off.

Overspeed alert
Function for keeping to a desired maximum speed.
A short press on control E activates this function (the warning lamp lights up).
To pre-set or modify the desired alert speed, when you have reach ed this speed, give a long press on control E (located on the dashboard central p a n e l ) u n t i l y o u h e a r a c o n fi r m a t i o n g o n g .
An audible signal indicates that the programmed speed is being exceeded.
To cancel
Give another short press on control E to deactivate this function (the warn-ing lamp goes out).

Do not use it on congested roads or when the weather or the road conditions are poor.
This driving assistance function allows you to drive at the spee d of your choice without the need to action the accelerator.
T h i s d e v i c e i s a c t i v e a t s p e e d s a b o v e a p p r o x . 4 0 k m / h ( 2 5 m p h ) , i n t h e higher gears only.
The button A for cruise control is located on the lighting control stalk.
Remark: The information relating to the cruise control is displayed in the instrument panel screen at B. This display causes the trip computer infor-mation to disappear (if it is shown on the instrument panel).
To select the function
Turn the control 1 to the “CRUISE” position.
When you select the function via control 1, no speed has yet been memorised.
To select a cruise speed
Accelerate to the desired speed, then give a short press on butt on 2 or but-ton 4.
The cruise speed is then memorised. It is shown in the display on instrument panel B.
You can then release the accelerator pedal. The vehicle will automatically keep to that chosen speed.
Remark: The vehicle speed may vary slightly from that memorised.

S P E E D L I M I T E R
This driving assistance function enables you to select a maximum speed that you wish not to exceed. This must be greater than 30 km/h (approx. 20 mph).
Control A for the speed limiter is situated below the lighting/signalling con-trol stalk.
Remark: The information relating to the speed limiter is displayed in the instrument panel screen at B. This display causes the trip computer infor-mation to disappear (if it is shown on the instrument panel).
To select the function
Turn control 1 to position “LIMIT”.
On selection of the function via control 1, the last speed memorised is displayed.
To adjust the maximum speed
When the engine is running, you can adjust the memorised spee d by either short presses or long presses on:Button 4 to increase the memorised speed.Button 2 to decrease the memorised speed.
Remark: Successive presses will modify the cruise speed in steps of 1 km/h a n d a c o n t i n u o u s p r e s s i n s t e p s o f 5 k m / h ( 3 m p h ) .
Activation of the maximum speed
As the desired maximum speed is displayed, press control 3 to activate the speed limitation.

Locking from the inside
A press on the control A operates the electric central locking and unlocking, provided all the doors are closed.
It is still possible to open the doors from the inside.
If one of the doors or the tailgate is open or not properly closed, the central locking does not operate.
The warning lamp associated with the control A s i g n a l s 3 s t a t u s e s : l t fl a s h e s w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n k e y i s i n t h e s t o p p o s i t i o n o r w h e n t h e k e y i s not detected and the doors are locked.It lights up when the ignition key is in the “accessories” posit ion or “igni- t i o n + e n g i n e r u n n i n g ” o r s t a r t e r p o s i t i o n a n d i f t h e d o o r s a r e l o c k e d .
It goes out when the doors are not locked.Note: Control A is inactive if the vehicle has been locked using the remote control or the key.
Anti-theft
I n a l l c a s e s , a s s o o n a s t h e v e h i c l e i s m o v i n g ( a b o v e a s p e e d o f 1 0 k m / h ) , the tailgate locks automatically. The tailgate unlocks when a door is opened or when the interior locking/unlocking control is actioned.
Anti-theft protection
On starting the vehicle, the system automatically locks the doors a s soon as y o u r e a c h a p p r o x i m a t e l y 1 0 k m / h .Note: If a door has been opened, this will lock again automatically when the vehicle reaches approx. 10.
Activation / Deactivation of the function
After switching on the ignition, give a long press on the ce ntral unlocking button until a message is displayed.

Child safety manual control
This prohibits the opening of both the rear doors from the inside.
This device is independent of the central locking system.
The rear doors are locked by oper-ating the lever.
Electrically-controlled child safety
This prohibits the opening of both the rear doors from the inside.
The electrical control is on the dashboard, for locking the rear doors.Note: When the ignition is switched on, if the child safety is activated, the lamp on the dashboard control lights up.
Child safety on rear windows and rear doors
A switch deactivates the controls for the rear windows.
It also operates the child safety on the rear doors.
This device is independent of the central locking system.
