Except when reinitialising, the remote control cannot function while the key is in the ignition, even when switched off.
Warning: by inadvertently actioning the remote control, when for example it is in your pocket, you can unlock the vehicle without your realising it.
However, if none of the doors is opened within thirty seconds following an unlocking, the doors will automatically relock.
Warning: there is a risk of damage if the replacement batte ry is not the correct one.
Only use batteries that are identical or equivalent to those approved by CITROËN.

K E Y S
It is dangerous to operate the deadlocking when a person is in the vehicle as unlocking is impossible from the inside (without the remote control).
The key number is on the label attached to the key.
Should you lose your key or remote control, a CITROËN d ealer can supply replacements.
If you unlock your vehicle using the key because of a problem with the battery, be aware that opening/closing a door with the window closed can ser iously damage the glass, even to the point of breaking it. See "Access".
ELECTRONIC IMMOBILISER KEY
The key operates all the vehicle’s l o c k s a s w e l l a s t h e i g n i t i o n .Note: For safety reasons, a buzzer will sound if you have switched off the ignition and opened the driver’s door without having removed the ignition key.

Deadlocking: Central locking using the key

First make sure all the doors are closed.

W i t h t h e a l a r m a r m e d , t h e p r o t e c t i o n s a r e a c t i v e a f t e r 5 s e c o n d s ( p e r i m e t e r ) a n d 4 5 s e c o n d s ( v o l u m e t r i c ) .

If you lock your vehicle and a door, or the boot, is still open, the central locking does not operate but the alarm will arm itself after approx. 45 seconds.Note: The siren is automatically deactivated (for example for disconnecting the battery) as soon as the vehic le is unlocked using the remote control.

ECONOMY MODE
I n o r d e r n o t t o d i s c h a r g e t h e b a t - t e r y w h i l e t h e e n g i n e i s s t o p p e d , your vehicle goes automatically into economy mode after a maxi-mum of 3 0 m i n u t e s . E c o n o m y m o d e i s i n d i c a t e d b y a m e s s a g e on the screen.

Release the key as soon as the e n g i n e s t a r t s . N e v e r t u r n i t w h i l e t h e e n g i n e i s r u n n i n g .
NEVER REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY BEFORE THE ENGINE HAS COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.
IT IS ESSENTIAL ALWAYS TO DRIVE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, SO AS TO RETAIN STEERING AND BRAKING ASSISTANCE (risk of the steering lock engaging and loss of safety features).
Do not hang a heavy object on the key; it could pull the key out of alignment in the switch and could cause a malfun ction.
When stationary, having removed the key, carefully turn the steering wheel if you wish to lock the steering.
