The incorrect installation of a child seat in a vehicle compromises the child's protection in the event of an accident. Ensure that there is no seat belt or seat belt buckle under the child seat, as this could
destabilise it. Remember to fasten the seat belts or the child seat harnesses keeping the slack relative to the child's body to a minimum, even for short journeys. When installing a child seat using the seat belt, ensure that the seat belt is tightened correctly on the child seat and that it secures the child seat firmly on the seat of your vehicle. If your passenger seat is adjustable, move it for wards if necessary. At rear seating positions, always leave sufficient space between the front seat and: - a "rear ward facing" child seat, - the child's feet for a child seat fitted "forward facing". To do this, move the front seat for wards and, if necessary, move its backrest into the upright position.

Advice on child seats
Installing a booster seat
The chest part of the seat belt must be positioned on the child's shoulder without
touching the neck. Ensure that the lap part of the seat belt passes correctly over the child's thighs. CITROËN recommends the use of a booster seat which has a back, fitted with a seat belt guide at shoulder level. As a safety precaution, do not leave: - a child or children alone and unsupervised in a vehicle, - a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with the windows closed, - the keys within reach of children inside the vehicle. To prevent accidental opening of the doors and rear windows, use the "Child lock". Take care not to open the rear windows by more than one third. To protect young children from the rays of the sun, fit side blinds on the rear windows.
The legislation on carrying children on the front passenger seat is specific to each country. Refer to the legislation in force in your country. Deactivate the passenger airbag when a "rear ward-facing" child seat is installed on the front seat. Otherwise, the child would risk being seriously injured or killed if the airbag were to inflate.
Children at the front
For optimum installation of the "forward-facing" child seat, ensure that the back of the child seat is as close as possible to the backrest of the vehicle's seat , in contact if possible.
You mst remove the head restraint before installing a child seat with backrest to a passenger seat. Ensure that the head restraint is stored or attached securely to prevent it from being thrown around the vehicle in the event of sharp braking. Refit the head restraint when the child seat is removed.

Electric child lock
Remote control system to prevent opening of the rear doors using their interior controls and use of the rear electric windows.
Switching on Switching off
Any other status of the indicator lamp indicates a fault with the electric child lock. Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
This system is independent and in no circumstances does it take the place of the central locking control. Check the status of the child lock each time you switch on the ignition. Always remove the key from the ignition when leaving the vehicle, even for a short time. In the event of a serious impact, the
electric child lock is switched off automatically to permit the exit of the rear passengers.
 With the ignition on, press this button.  With the ignition on, press this button again.
The indicator lamp in the button comes on, accompanied by a message to confirm that the child lock is on. This indicator lamp remains on until the child lock is switched off. It is still possible to open the doors from the outside and operate the rear electric windows from the driver's control panel.

A set of the following Electronic Stability systems: - anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD), - emergency braking assistance, - wheel anti-slip regulation (ASR) or traction control, - dynamic stability control (DSC).
Electronic stability control (ESC)

Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD)
This system improves the stability and manoeuvrability of your vehicle when braking and provides improved control in corners, in particular on poor or slippery road sur faces. The ABS prevents wheel lock in the event of emergency braking. The electronic brake force distribution system manages the braking pressure wheel by wheel.
Emergency braking assistance
In an emergency, this system enables you to reach the optimum braking pressure more quickly and therefore reduce the stopping distance. It is triggered in relation to the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed. This is felt by a reduction in the resistance of the pedal and an increase in the effectiveness of the braking.
Anti-slip regulation (ASR)
The ASR system (also known as Traction Control) optimises traction in order to avoid wheel slip by acting on the brakes of the driving wheels and on the engine. It also improves the directional stability of the vehicle on acceleration.
Dynamic stability control (DSC)
If there is a difference between the path followed by the vehicle and that required by the driver, the DSC monitors each wheel and automatically acts on the brake of one or more wheels and on the engine to return the vehicle to the required path, within the limits of the laws of physics.

Intelligent traction control
system ("Snow motion")
Your vehicle has a system to help driving on snow: intelligent traction control.
This system detects situations of difficult sur face adhesion that could make it difficult to move off or make progress on deep fresh snow or compacted snow. In these situations, the intelligent traction control limits the amount of wheel slip to provide the best traction and trajectory control for your vehicle. In extremely severe conditions (deep snow, mud, ...), when it proves impossible to move off, it may be useful to temporarily deactivate the ESP/ASR systems to allow the wheels to spin freely and so allow movement of the vehicle.
Operation
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic brake force distribution (EBFD)
In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasing the pressure.
When changing wheels (tyres and rims), make sure that these are approved for your vehicle. Normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibrations of the brake pedal.
When this warning lamp comes on, accompanied by an audible signal and a message, it indicates that there is a fault with the ABS, which could cause loss of control of the vehicle when braking.
When this warning lamp comes on, coupled with the STOP warning lamp, accompanied by an audible signal and a message, it indicates that there is a fault with the electronic brake force distribution (EBFD), which could cause loss of control of the vehicle when braking. You must stop as soon as it is safe to do so. In both cases, contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop. The use of snow tyres is strongly recommended on sur faces offering low levels of adhesion.

The driver must ensure that passengers use the seat belts correctly and that they are all restrained securely before setting off. Wherever you are seated in the vehicle, always fasten your seat belt, even for short journeys. Do not interchange the seat belt buckles as they will not fulfil their role fully. The seat belts are fitted with an inertia reel permitting automatic adjustment of the length of the strap to your size. The seat belt is stowed automatically when not in use. Before and after use, ensure that the seat belt is reeled in correctly. The lower part of the strap must be positioned as low as possible on the pelvis. The upper part must be positioned in the hollow of the shoulder. The inertia reels are fitted with an automatic locking device which comes into operation in the event of a collision, emergency braking or if the vehicle rolls over. You can release the device by pulling firmly on the strap and releasing it so that it reels in slightly.
Recommendations for children
Use a suitable child seat if the passenger is less than 12 years old or shorter than one and a half metres. Never use the same seat belt to secure more than one person. Never allow a child to travel on your lap.
In order to be effective, a seat belt must: - be tightened as close to the body as possible, - be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking that it does not twist, - be used to restrain only one person, - not bear any trace of cuts or fraying, - not be converted or modified to avoid affecting its performance. In accordance with current safety regulations, for all repairs on your vehicle, go to a qualified workshop with the skills and equipment needed, which a CITROËN dealer is able to provide. Have your seat belts checked regularly by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop, particularly if the straps show signs of damage. Clean the seat belt straps with soapy water or a textile cleaning product, sold by CITROËN dealers. After folding or moving a seat or rear bench seat, ensure that the seat belt is positioned and reeled in correctly.
In the event of an impact
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the impact , the pretensioning device may be deployed before and independently of the airbags. Deployment of the pretensioners is accompanied by a slight discharge of harmless smoke and a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic cartridge incorporated in the system. In all cases, the airbag warning lamp comes on. Following an impact, have the seat belts system checked, and if necessary replaced, by a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

This kit is installed in the storage box, under the boot floor.
Complete system consisting of a compressor and a sealant cartridge which permits temporary repair of a tyre so that you can temporary repair of a tyre so that you can temporary repairdrive to the nearest garage. It is designed to repair most punctures which could affect the tyre, located on the tyre tread or shoulder.

Access to the spare wheel
The spare wheel is supported by a winch carrier system underneath the vehicle.

Taking out the spare wheel
 Raise the floor to reveal the spare wheel carrier drive nut.  Turn this drive nut fully clockwise , using the wheelbrace 1 and the extension 8 , to unwind the winch cable, until the spare wheel is flat on the ground. Unwind the length needed for access to the wheel.
 Detach the assembly of wheel and box from the rear of the vehicle.  Remove the hook with its connection plate to release the assembly of wheel and box, as shown in the illustration.  Pull out the wheel for access to the box.
 Press the tongue, slide the cover of the box to mid travel then remove it for access to the jack.

Putting the spare wheel back in place
 Raise the assembly of wheel and box underneath the vehicle by turning the winch drive nut anticlockwise using the wheelbrace 1 and the extension 8 .
 Tighten fully and check that the wheel is horizontally flush against the floor.  Stow the jack in the box and refit the covers.  Place the box on the ground.  Place the spare wheel centrally on the box.  Pass the hook with its connection plate through the wheel, then the box, as illustrated.

Removing a wheel
Parking the vehicle
Immobilise the vehicle where it does not block traffic: the ground must be level, stable and not slippery. Apply the parking brake unless it has been programmed to automatic mode, switch off the ignition and engage first gear * to block the wheels. Check that the braking warning lamp and the P warning lamp in the parking brake control lever come on. The occupants must get out of the vehicle and wait where they are safe. Never go underneath a vehicle raised using a jack; use an axle stand.
 Depending on equipment, remove the cover from from each of bolts using the tool 3 or remove the hub cap using tool 4 .  Fit the security socket 5 on the wheelbrace 1 to slacken the security bolt (if fitted).  Slacken the other bolts (no more than a 1/4 turn) using the wheelbrace 1 o n l y.
* Position R for an electronic gearbox; P for an automatic gearbox.
