GETTING TO KNOW YOUR VEHICLE 15
REMOTE START ABORT MESSAGE
The following messages will appear in the
instrument cluster display if the vehicle fails to
remote start or exits remote start prematurely if
equipped with Remote Start:
Remote Start Cancelled — Door Open
Remote Start Cancelled — Hood Open
Remote Start Cancelled — Fuel Low
Remote Start Cancelled — L/Gate Open
Remote Start Disabled — Start Vehicle To
Reset The message stays active until the ignition is
p
l

aced in the ON/RUN position.
TO ENTER REMOTE START MODE
Push and release the remote start button on the
key fob twice within five seconds. The vehicle
doors will lock, the parking lights will flash and
the horn will chirp twice (if programmed). Then,
the engine will start and the vehicle will remain
in the Remote Start mode for a 15 minute cycle.
NOTE:
If an engine fault is present or fuel level is
low, the vehicle will start and then shut down
in 10 seconds.
The park lamps will turn on and remain on
during Remote Start mode.
For security, power window and power
sunroof operation (if equipped) are disabled
when the vehicle is in the Remote Start
mode.
The engine can be started two consecutive
times (two 15 minute cycles) with the key
f o

b. However, the ignition must be placed in
the ON/RUN position before you can repeat
the start sequence for a third cycle.
TO EXIT REMOTE START MODE

ITHOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE
Push and release the remote start button one
time or allow the engine to run for the entire
15 minute cycle.
NOTE:
To avoid unintentional shutdowns, the system
wi
ll disable for two seconds after receiving a
valid Remote Start request.

Before the end of 15 minute cycle, push and
re
lease the unlock button on the key fob to
unlock the doors and disarm the vehicle
security alarm (if equipped). Then, prior to the
end of the 15 minute cycle, push and release

e START/STOP ignition button.
NOTE:
The message “Push Start Button” will appear in
t h

e instrument cluster display until you push the
START/STOP ignition button.
WARNING!
Do not start or run an engine in a closed
garage or confined area. Exhaust gas
contains Carbon Monoxide (CO) which is
odorless and colorless. Carbon Monoxide is
poisonous and can cause serious injury or
death when inhaled.
Keep key fobs away from children. Opera -
tion of the Remote Start System, windows,
d o

or locks or other controls could cause
serious injury or death.

CLIMATE CONTROL FUNCTIONS
A/C (Air Conditioning)

The Air Conditioning (A/C) button allows the
operator to manually activate or deactivate
the air conditioning system. When the air
c o

nditioning system is turned on, cool
dehumidified air will flow through the outlets into
the cabin. For improved fuel economy, press the
A/C button to turn off the air conditioning and
manually adjust the blower and airflow mode
settings. Also, make sure to select only Panel,
Bi-Level, or Floor modes.

NOTE:
For Manual Climate Controls, if the system is
in Mix, Floor or Defrost Mode, the A/C can be
turned off, but the A/C system shall remain
active to prevent fogging of the windows.
If fog or mist appears on the windshield or
side glass, select Defrost mode, and increase
blower speed if needed.
If your air conditioning performance seems
lower than expected, check the front of the
A/C condenser (located in front of the radi -
ator), for an accumulation of dirt or insects. C

an with a gentle water spray from the front
of the radiator and through the condenser.
MAX A/C
MAX A/C sets the control for maximum cooling
p e

rformance.
Press and release to toggle between MAX A/C
a n

d the prior settings. The button illuminates
when MAX A/C is on.
In MAX A/C, the blower level and mode position
c a

n be adjusted to desired user settings.
Pressing other settings will cause the MAX A/C
operation to switch to the selected setting and
MAX A/C to exit.
Recirculation

In cold weather, use of Recirculation mode
may lead to excessive window fogging. The
R e

circulation feature may be unavailable (button
on the touchscreen greyed out) if conditions exist
that could create fogging on the inside of the
windshield.

On systems with Manual Climate Controls,
if equipped, the Recirculation mode is not
a l

lowed in Defrost mode to improve window
clearing operation. Recirculation is disabled
automatically if this mode is selected. Attempting to use Recirculation while in this
mode causes the LED in the control button to
blink and then turns off.
AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL
(ATC) — I
F EQUIPPED
Automatic Operation

1. Push the AUTO button on the faceplate, or
the AUTO button on the touchscreen on the
Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)
Panel.

2. Next, adjust the temperature you would like t
he system to maintain by adjusting the
driver and passenger temperature control
buttons. Once the desired temperature is
displayed, the system achieves and
automatically maintains that comfort level.
3. W hen the system is set up for your comfort
l
evel, it is not necessary to change the
settings. You will experience the greatest
efficiency by simply allowing the system to
function automatically.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DESCRIPTIONS

1. Tachometer

Indicates the engine speed in revolutions
per minute (RPM x 1000).
2. I nstrument Cluster Display
When the appropriate conditions exist,
this display shows the instrument cluster
display messages. Refer to “Instrument
Cluster Display” in this chapter for further
information.
3. S peedometer
Indicates vehicle speed.
4. F uel Gauge
The pointer shows the level of fuel in the
fuel tank when the Keyless Push Button
Ignition is in the ON/RUN position.

e fuel door is located. 5. T
emperature Gauge
The temperature gauge shows engine
coolant temperature. Any reading within
the normal range indicates that the
engine cooling system is operating satis
-
factorily.
The gauge pointer will likely indicate a
higher temperature when driving in hot
weather, up mountain grades, or when
towing a trailer. It should not be allowed
to exceed the upper limits of the normal
operating range.
NOTE:
The hard telltales will illuminate for a bulb check
w h

en the ignition is first cycled.
WARNING!

A hot engine cooling system is dangerous.
You or others could be badly burned by steam
o r

boiling coolant. You may want to call an
authorized dealer for service if your vehicle
overheats. If you decide to look under the hood
yourself, see “Servicing And Maintenance.”
Follow the warnings under the Cooling System
Pressure Cap paragraph.

CAUTION!

Driving with a hot engine cooling system could
damage your vehicle. If the temperature gauge
reads “H,” pull over and stop the vehicle. Idle
the vehicle with the air conditioner turned off
until the pointer drops back into the normal
range. If the pointer remains on the “H,” turn
the engine off immediately and call an
authorized dealer for service.

Your vehicle may be equipped with an
instrument cluster display, which offers useful
information to the driver. With the ignition in

the OFF mode, opening/closing of a door will
a c

tivate the display for viewing, and display
the total miles, or kilometers, in the odometer.

ur instrument cluster display is designed to
display important information about your
vehicle’s systems and features. Using a driver
interactive display located on the instrument
panel, your instrument cluster display can show
you how systems are working and give you
warnings when they aren’t. The steering wheel
mounted controls allow you to scroll through
and enter the main menus and submenus.
You can access the specific information you

nt and make selections and adjustments.

The instrument cluster display features a
driver-interactive display that is located in the
instrument cluster.

OIL CHANGE DUE
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil
change indicator system. The “Oil Change Due”
message will appear in the instrument cluster
display for five seconds after a single chime has
sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil
change interval. The engine oil change indicator
system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate
dependent upon your personal driving style. Unless reset, this message will continue to

splay each time you cycle the ignition to the
ON/RUN position. To turn off the message
temporarily, push and release the up arrow
button. To reset the oil change indicator system
(after performing the scheduled maintenance),
perform the following procedure:

1. W ithout pushing the brake pedal, push and
r
elease the ENGINE START/STOP button
and cycle the ignition to the ON/RUN
position (do not start the engine).

2. Fully push the accelerator pedal, slowly, t
hree times within 10 seconds.
3. W ithout pushing the brake pedal, push and
r
elease the ENGINE START/STOP button
once to return the ignition to the OFF/LOCK
position.
NOTE:

If the indicator message illuminates when you
s t

art the vehicle, the oil change indicator system
did not reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

Average Fuel Economy
Shows the average fuel economy since the last
re

set. When the fuel economy is reset, the
display will read “RESET” or show dashes for
two seconds. Then, the history information will
be erased, and the averaging will continue from
the last fuel average reading before the reset.

Fuel Economy

Distance To Empty (DTE)
Shows the estimated distance that can be
t r

aveled with the fuel remaining in the tank. This
estimated distance is determined by a weighted
average of the instantaneous and average fuel
economy, according to the current fuel tank
level. DTE cannot be reset through the right
arrow button. NOTE:

Significant changes in driving style or vehicle
l o

ading will greatly affect the actual drivable
distance of the vehicle, regardless of the DTE
displayed value.
When the DTE value is less than 30 miles
(4

8 km) estimated driving distance, the DTE
d i

splay will change to a “LOW FUEL” message.
This display will continue until the vehicle runs
out of fuel. Adding a significant amount of fuel
to the vehicle will turn off the “LOW FUEL”
message and a new DTE value will display.
Instantaneous Fuel Economy

This display shows the instantaneous fuel economy

G or L/ 100 km in bar graph form while driving.

is will monitor the gas mileage in real-time as you
drive and can be used to modify driving habits in
order to increase fuel economy.

Vehicle Speed
Push and release the up or down arrow button
until “Vehicle Speed” displays highlighted in the
instrument cluster display. Push the right arrow
button to display the current speed in mph or
km/h. Pushing the right arrow button a second
time will toggle the unit of measure between
mph or km/h. NOTE:

Changing the unit of measure in the Vehicle
S p

eed menu will not change the unit of
measure in the instrument cluster display.
Trip Info
Push and release the up or down arrow button
until “Trip Info” displays highlighted in the
instrument cluster display and push the right
arrow button. Pushing the right arrow button
with "Trip Info" highlighted will cause the
instrument cluster display to show Trip A, Trip B,
and Elapsed Time all in one display. If you want
to reset one of the three functions you use the
up or down arrow button to highlight (select) the
feature that you want to reset. Pushing the right
arrow button will cause the selected feature to
reset individually. The three features can only
be reset individually. The following Trip
functions display in the instrument cluster

Electric Power Steering Fault Warning
Light
This warning light will turn on when
there's a fault with the Electric Power

eering (EPS) system. Refer to
“Power Steering” in “Starting And
Operating” for further information.
Door Open Warning Light — If Equipped
This indicator will illuminate when a
door is ajar/open and not fully closed.
NOTE:
If the vehicle is moving, there will also be a

Liftgate Open Warning Light
This warning light will illuminate when
the liftgate is open.
NOTE:
If the vehicle is moving, there will also be a

ngle chime.
YELLOW WARNING LIGHTS
Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator
Warning Light (MIL)
The Engine Check/Malfunction
Indicator Light (MIL) is a part of an
On

board Diagnostic System called
OBD II that monitors engine and
automatic transmission control systems. This
warning light will illuminate when the ignition
is in the ON/RUN position before engine start.
If the bulb does not come on when turning the
i g

nition switch from OFF to ON/RUN, have the
condition checked promptly. Certain conditions, such as a loose or missing
g
a

s cap, poor quality fuel, etc., may illuminate
the light after engine start. The vehicle should
be serviced if the light stays on through several
typical driving styles. In most situations, the
vehicle will drive normally and will not require
towing.
When the engine is running, the MIL may flash
t o

alert serious conditions that could lead to
immediate loss of power or severe catalytic
converter damage. The vehicle should be
serviced by an authorized dealer as soon as
possible if this occurs.
WARNING!
Continued operation with reduced assist
could pose a safety risk to yourself and
others. Service should be obtained as soon
as possible.
WARNING!
A malfunctioning catalytic converter, as
referenced above, can reach higher
temperatures than in normal operating
conditions. This can cause a fire if you drive
slowly or park over flammable substances
such as dry plants, wood, cardboard, etc.
This could result in death or serious injury to

e driver, occupants or others.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Active
Warning Light — If Equipped

This warning light will indicate when the
Electronic Stability Control system is

tive. The “ESC Indicator Light” in the
instrument cluster will come on when the
ignition is placed in the ON/RUN or ACC/ON/RUN
position, and when ESC is activated. It should go out
with the engine running. If the “ESC Indicator Light”
comes on continuously with the engine running, a
malfunction has been detected in the ESC system. If
this warning light remains on after several ignition
cycles, and the vehicle has been driven several
miles (kilometers) at speeds greater than 30 mph
( 4

8 km/h), see an authorized dealer as soon as
p o

ssible to have the problem diagnosed and
corrected.

The “ESC OFF Indicator Light” and the “ESC
Indicator Light” come on momentarily each
time the ignition is placed in the ON/RUN or
ACC/ON/RUN position.
The ESC system will make buzzing or clicking
sounds when it is active. This is normal; the
sounds will stop when ESC becomes inactive.
This light will come on when the vehicle is in
an ESC event.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) OFF
Warning Light — If Equipped
This warning light indicates the
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is

Each time the ignition is turned to ON/RUN or

C/ON/RUN, the ESC system will be on, even
if it was turned off previously.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Warning Light
The warning light switches on and a
message is displayed to indicate that
t h

e tire pressure is lower than the
recommended value and/or that slow
pressure loss is occurring. In these cases, optimal tire duration and fuel consumption may
not be guaranteed.
Should one or more tires be in the condition
m
e

ntioned above, the display will show the
indications corresponding to each tire.
Each tire, including the spare (if provided),
sh
ould be checked monthly when cold and
inflated to the inflation pressure recommended
by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle
placard or tire inflation pressure label. If your
vehicle has tires of a different size than the size
indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation
pressure label, you should determine the
proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.
CAUTION!
Prolonged driving with the Malfunction
Indicator Light (MIL) on could cause damage
to the vehicle control system. It also could
affect fuel economy and driveability. If the
MIL is flashing, severe catalytic converter
damage and power loss will soon occur.
Immediate service is required.
CAUTION!
Do not continue driving with one or more flat
tires as handling may be compromised. Stop
the vehicle, avoiding sharp braking and
steering. If a tire puncture occurs, repair
immediately using the dedicated tire repair
kit and contact an authorized dealer as soon
as possible.
