Partial extension (1/3 or 2/3) Fig. fig. 74-fig. 75
Extending the luggage compartment on the right
side makes it possible to carry two passengers
on the left part of the rear seat. Extending the left
side of the luggage compartment allows you to carry
one passenger on the right part of the rear seat.Proceed as follows:
❒
completely lower the rear seat head restraints;
❒ move the seat belt to the side, making sure that it
is fully extended and not twisted;
❒ fold the desired cushion forwards fig. 76 working
in the point shown by the arrow;
❒ lift lever A fig. 77 retaining the backrest and fold
the latter forwards. When you lift the lever, you
will see a red band B.
Full extension
Tilting the rear seat completely forwards allows
maximum loading volume.
Proceed as follows:

so as to obtain a continuous loading surface.
REPOSITIONING THE REAR SEAT
Move the seat belts to the side, making sure that
they are correctly extended and not twisted.
Lift the backrests and push them back until you hear
both fastening mechanisms click in. Check that the
red band B fig. 80 on the side of levers A is no longer

SAFETY
SEAT BELTSUSING THE SEAT BELTS
The seat belt should be worn keeping the torso
straight and rested against the backrest.
To fasten the seat belts, hold the tongue A fig. 98
and insert it into the buckle B, until it clicks into
place.
If the seat belt jams during removal, let it rewind for
a short stretch, then pull it out again without jerking.
To unfasten the seat belt, press button C. Guide
the seat belt with your hand while it is rewinding, to
prevent it from twisting.Through the retractor, the seat belt automatically
adapts to the body of the occupant wearing it,
allowing freedom of movement.
The reel may lock when the car is parked on a steep
slope: this is perfectly normal. Furthermore, the
reel mechanism locks the belt if it is pulled sharply or
in the event of sudden braking, collisions and
high-speed bends.
The rear seat is fitted with inertia seat belts with
three anchor points and a reel for the side seats and
the middle one.
Wear the rear seat belts as shown in fig. 99.

WARNING
Never press button C fig. 98 when
travelling.
IMPORTANT The backrest is correctly secured when
the red band B fig. 100 to the side of backrest
folding handle A disappears. This red band indicates
that the backrest is not secured.
IMPORTANT Remember that after a violent impact,
rear-seat passengers who are not wearing their
seat belts not only expose themselves to significant
risk of injury, but also represent a danger to
passengers occupying the front seats.
IMPORTANT When putting the rear seat back in its
normal position, make sure that the seat belts are
positioned so that they are ready to use.
WARNING
Make sure that the backrest is correctly
secured on both sides (red bands B
fig. 100 not visible) to prevent it from moving
forward in the event of sharp braking, causing
injuries to passengers.
ADJUSTING THE FRONT SEAT BELT
HEIGHT
(for versions/markets, where provided)
Four different adjustments in height are possible.
To adjust, press button A fig. 101 and raise or lower
handle B.
Always adjust the height of the seat belts to fit the
person wearing it: this precaution could greatly
reduce the risk of injury in the event of collision.

Correct adjustment is obtained when the belt passes
approximately half way between the shoulder and
the neck.
WARNING
Make height adjustment of the seat
belts when the car is stationary.WARNING
After adjustment , always check that the
cursor to which the ring is fastened is
locked in one of the preset positions. To do this,
with the button A fig. 101 released, exert a
fur ther pressure to allow the anchor device to
catch if release did not take place at one of the
preset positions.
SBR SYSTEMThis system consists of a buzzer which, in
conjunction with the
warning light flashing on the
instrument panel (initially in fixed mode with
continuous acoustic signal and then in flashing mode
with intermittent acoustic signal), warns the driver
and front passenger that their seat belts have not
been fastened.
For long-term deactivation of the SBR system,
contact a Fiat Dealership. The SBR system can be
reactivated at any time through the Setup Menu only
(see the "Menu Items" paragraph in the "Knowing
your car" chapter).

PRETENSIONERSThe car is equipped with front seat belts
pretensioners, that reduce slack in the belts in the
event of a severe frontal impact. This guarantees the
perfect adherence of the seat belts to the occupants'
bodies before the restraining action begins.
The retractors lock to indicate that the pretensioner
has intervened.
This car is also equipped with a second pretensioner
(in the kick plate area). Its activation is signalled by
the shortening of the metal cable.
A slight discharge of smoke may be produced during
the activation of the pretensioner which is not
harmful and does not involve any fire hazard.
IMPORTANT To obtain the highest degree of
protection from the action of the pretensioner, wear
the seat belt tight to the chest and pelvis.
The pretensioner does not require any maintenance
or lubrication: any changes to its original conditions
will invalidate its efficiency. If, due to unusual natural
events (floods, sea storms, etc.), the device has
been affected by water and mud, it must be replaced.
WARNING
The pretensioner may be used only
once. Contact a Fiat Dealership to have
it replaced after it has been deployed.
Operations which lead to impacts,
vibrations or localised heating (over 100°C
for a maximum of six hours) in the area
around the pretensioner may damage or deploy
it . Contact a Fiat Dealership should intervention
be necessar y on these components.
LOAD LIMITERS
To increase passenger safety in an accident, the front
and rear (for versions/markets where provided)
seat belt reels contain a load limiter which controls
the force acting on the chest and shoulders during
the restraining action of the belts in the event of
a head-on collision.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING
THE SEAT BELTS
The driver must comply with (and have all car
passengers follow) any local regulations in force
concerning the use of seat belts. Always fasten the
seat belts before setting off.
Seat belts are also to be worn by pregnant women:
the risk of injury in the case of accident is greatly
reduced for them and the unborn child if they are
wearing a seat belt.
Pregnant women must position the lower part of the
belt very low down so that it passes over the pelvis
and under the abdomen (see fig. 102). The best
way to protect the unborn child is to protect the
mother. When a safety belt is worn properly, it
is more likely that the unborn child will not be hurt
in a crash. For pregnant women, as for anyone,
the key to making safety belts effective is wearing
them properly.
WARNING
For maximum safety, keep the back of
your seat upright , lean back into it
and make sure the seat belt fits closely across
your chest and pelvis. Always fasten the seat
belts on both the front and the rear seats!
Travelling without wearing seat belts will
increase the risk of serious injury or even death
in the event of an accident . Removing or otherwise tampering with seat belt and
pretensioner components is strictly prohibited.
Any operations on these components must
be performed by qualified and authorised
technicians. Always go to a Fiat Dealership.

IMPORTANT The seat belt must not be twisted. The
upper part must pass over the shoulder and cross
the chest diagonally. The lower part must adhere to
the pelvis (as shown in fig. 103) rather than the
abdomen of the occupant. Never use devices (clips,
clamps, etc.) to hold the seat belt away from your
body.
IMPORTANT Each seat belt must be used by only
one person. Never travel with a child sitting on the
passenger's lap and a single belt to protect them
both fig. 104. In general, do not place any objects
between the person and the belt.
WARNING
If the belt has been subjected to a high
level of stress, for example after an
accident , it must be completely replaced
together with the attachments, attachment
fixing screws and the pretensioner. In fact , even
if the belt has no visible defects, it could have
lost its resilience.
