Traction Control
Traction control enhances your vehicle’sability to maintain traction of the wheelsby detecting and controlling wheel spin.See How Does Traction Control Work(page 202).

SWITCHING STABILITY
CONTROL ON AND OFF
The system turns on each time you switchthe ignition on.
The electronic stability control system isdisabled when the transmission selectoris in reverse (R).
You can switch the traction controlindependently. See Switching TractionControl On and Off (page 202).
Note:When you place your vehicle intofour-wheel drive low (4L), the stabilitycontrol disables. Stability control resumeswhen you put your vehicle back intotwo-wheel drive or four-wheel drive high(4H).

WHAT IS CRUISE CONTROL
Cruise control lets you maintain a setspeed without keeping your foot on theaccelerator pedal.
Requirements
Use cruise control when the vehicle speedis greater than 15 mph in imperial units and20 km/h in metric units.
SWITCHING CRUISE CONTROL
ON AND OFF
WARNING: Do not use cruisecontrol on winding roads, in heavy trafficor when the road surface is slippery. Thiscould result in loss of vehicle control,serious injury or death.
The cruise controls are on the steeringwheel.
Switching Cruise Control On
Press the button to activate thesystem. When the systemactivates, the set speed is equalto whichever is greater, the current vehiclespeed, or 15 mph when in imperial units or20 km/h when in metric units. If the speedis too low, or other conditions are notcorrect for cruise control activation, thesystem will instead enter standby mode.
Switching Cruise Control Off
Press the button when thesystem is active or switch theignition off.
Note:When you switch cruise control off,the set speed clears.
SETTING THE CRUISE
CONTROL SPEED
WARNING: When you are goingdownhill, your vehicle speed couldincrease above the set speed. Thesystem does not apply the brakes.
Drive to the speed you prefer.
Press either the SET+ or SET-buttons to set the current speed.
Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
Note:The indicator changes color in theinformation display.
Changing the Set Speed
Press the SET+ button toincrease the set speed in smallincrements. Press and hold theSET+ button to accelerate. Release thebutton when you have reached yourpreferred speed.
Press the SET- button todecrease the set speed in smallincrements. Press and hold theSET- button to decelerate. Release thebutton when you have reached yourpreferred speed.
Note: If you accelerate by pressing theaccelerator pedal, the set speed does notchange. When you release the acceleratorpedal, your vehicle returns to the speed thatyou previously set.

Optimal system performance requires aclear view of the road by thewindshield-mounted camera.
Optimal performance may not occur if:
•The camera is blocked.
•There is poor visibility or lightingconditions.
•There are bad weather conditions.
SWITCHING ADAPTIVE
CRUISE CONTROL ON AND OFF
The cruise controls are on the steeringwheel. See Cruise Control (page 232).
Switching Adaptive Cruise ControlOn
Press the button to activate thesystem. When the systemactivates, the set speed is equalto the current vehicle speed. If the speedis too low, or other conditions are notcorrect for adaptive cruise controlactivation, the system enters standbymode.
Note:The minimum set speed is 15 mph or20 km/h.
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the instrument clusterdisplay.
Switching Adaptive Cruise ControlOff
Press the button when thesystem is in standby mode orswitch the ignition off.
Note:When you switch the system off, theset speed clears.
Automatic Cancellation orDeactivation
The system may cancel if:
•The tires lose traction.
•You apply the parking brake.
•Your vehicle speed falls significantlybelow 15 mph or 20 km/h.
The system may turn off or preventactivating when requested if:
•The vehicle has a blocked sensor.
•The brake temperature is too high.
•There is a failure in the system or arelated system.
SETTING THE ADAPTIVE
CRUISE CONTROL SPEED
Drive to the speed you prefer.
Press the button to set thecurrent speed.
Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
The indicator, current gap setting and setspeed appear in the information display.
A vehicle image illuminates if there is avehicle detected in front of you.

NORMAL
For everyday driving. This modeis the perfect balance ofexcitement, comfort andconvenience. This is the default mode aftereach ignition cycle, the driveline settingsremain the same prior to the ignition cycle.
Two-wheel drive high (2H) is the defaultfour-wheel drive mode. All four-wheel drivemodes are selectable when in normalmode.
The front electronic locking differential isavailable below 25 mph (40 km/h) whenin four-wheel drive low (4L). The rearelectronic locking differential is availablebelow 25 mph (40 km/h).
Note:The rear electronic locking differentialis available at any speed when in four-wheeldrive low (4L).
The stabilizer bar disconnect is availablein four-wheel drive high (4H) or four-wheeldrive low (4L).
ROCK CRAWL
For off-road driving andoptimum rock-climbing ability.Rock crawl mode optimizes thethrottle and transmission response toprovide you additional control of yourvehicle.
Four-wheel drive low (4L) is the onlydriveline configuration available in rockcrawl, the system prompts you to put yourvehicle into four-wheel drive low (4L) uponselection.
The front electronic locking differential isavailable below 25 mph (40 km/h) whenin four-wheel drive low (4L). The rearelectronic locking differential is engagedwhen in rock crawl mode and is availableat any speed.
The stabilizer bar disconnects when in rockcrawl mode.
Note:When using rock crawl mode ondry/hard pavement, your vehicle couldexperience vibration, driveline bind up,damage and potential excessive tire andvehicle wear.
SAND
For off-road driving on soft, drysand or deep snow. This modemay help get your vehicleunstuck from deep snow or sand.
Four-wheel drive high (4H) is the defaultfour-wheel drive mode. Four-wheel drivelow (4L) is selectable in sand mode.
The front electronic locking differential isavailable below 25 mph (40 km/h) whenin four-wheel drive low (4L). The rearelectronic locking differential is engagedwhen in sand mode and is available at anyspeed in all selectable four-wheel drivemodes.
The stabilizer bar disconnect is availablein four-wheel drive high (4H) or four-wheeldrive low (4L).
Note:The front camera system switcheson when you are in sand mode and yourspeed is less than 15 mph (24 km/h). If youexceed 15 mph (24 km/h), the camera shutsoff until your vehicle speed is below 12 mph(20 km/h).
Note:When using Sand mode on dry/hardpavement, your vehicle could experiencevibration, driveline bind up, damage andpotential excessive tire and vehicle wear.
Note:Sand mode is not intended for useon firm, slippery surfaces, such as pavedroads covered with snow or ice. For slippery,firm surfaces use slippery mode.

3.Switch Cross Traffic Alert on or off.
Note:The system switches on every timeyou switch the ignition on. To permanentlyswitch the system off, contact an authorizeddealer.
LOCATING THE CROSS
TRAFFIC ALERT SENSORS
The sensors are behind the rear fasciapanel.
Note:Keep the sensors free from snow, iceand large accumulations of dirt.
Note:Do not cover the sensors with bumperstickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note:Bike and cargo racks could causefalse alerts due to obstruction of the sensor.We recommend switching the feature offwhen using a bike or cargo rack.
Note:Blocked sensors may affect systemaccuracy.
If something is blocking the sensors, amessage may appear in the informationdisplay when you shift into reverse (R).
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
INDICATORS
When the cross traffic alertdetects an approaching vehicle,a tone sounds, a warning lampilluminates in the relevant exterior mirrorand arrows appear in the informationdisplay to show which side the vehicle isapproaching from.
If the system malfunctions, a warning lampilluminates in the instrument cluster anda message appears in the informationdisplay. Have your vehicle checked as soonas possible.
Note:If arrows do not display, a messageappears in the information display.
Note:In some conditions, the system couldalert you, even when there is nothing in thedetection zone, for example a vehiclepassing further away from your vehicle.

SWITCHING PRE-COLLISION
ASSIST ON AND OFF
To switch the system on or off, use thetouchscreen:
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Driver Assistance.
3.Press Pre-Collision Assist.
4.Switch the feature on or off.
Adjusting the Pre-Collision AssistSettings
You can adjust the following settings byusing the touchscreen controls in thepre-collision assist menu:
•Change alert and distance alertsensitivity to one of three possiblesettings.
•Switch distance indication and alert onor off.
•If required, switch automaticemergency braking on or off.
•If required, switch the entirepre-collision assist feature on or off.
•If required, switch evasive steeringassist on or off.
Note:Automatic emergency braking andevasive steering turn on every time youswitch the ignition on.
Note:If your vehicle has a radar sensor, werecommend that you switch the system offif you install a snow plow or similar objectin such a way that it may block the radarsensor. Your vehicle remembers the selectedsetting across key cycles.
Note:If you switch automatic emergencybraking off, evasive steering assist switchesoff.
LOCATING THE PRE-
COLLISION ASSIST SENSORS
Camera.1
Radar sensor (if equipped).2
If a message regarding a blocked sensoror camera appears in the informationdisplay, something is obstructing the radarsignals or camera images. If your vehiclehas a radar sensor, it is behind the fasciacover in the center of the lower grille. Witha blocked sensor or camera, the systemmay not function, or performance mayreduce. See Pre-Collision Assist –Information Messages (page 267).
DISTANCE INDICATION
WHAT IS DISTANCE INDICATION
Distance indication displays the gapbetween your vehicle and the vehicleahead of you.
Note:The graphic does not display if youswitch on cruise control or adaptive cruisecontrol.

EVASIVE STEERING ASSISTLIMITATIONS
Evasive steering assist only activates whenall the following occur:
•Automatic emergency braking andevasive steering assist are on.
•The system detects a road user aheadand starts to apply the brakes.
•You significantly turn the steeringwheel to steer around a road user.
Note:Evasive steering assist does notautomatically steer around a road user. Ifyou do not turn the steering wheel, evasivesteering assist does not activate.
Note:Evasive steering assist does notactivate if the distance to the road userahead is too small and the system cannotavoid a crash.
Note:Evasive steering does not activatewith cyclists or pedestrians.
SWITCHING EVASIVE STEERINGASSIST ON AND OFF
To switch the system on or off, use thetouchscreen:
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Driver Assistance.
3.Press Pre-Collision Assist.

A telltale illuminates in thecluster to indicate if the systemis disabled or unavailable.

1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Driver Assistance.
3.Switch Driver Alert on or off.
Note:The system remains on or offdepending on the last selection.
Resetting Driver Alert
You can reset the system by either:
•Switching the ignition off and on.
•Stopping the vehicle and then openingand closing the driver door.
DRIVER ALERT INDICATORS
System Warnings
The warning system has two stages:
1.A temporary warning is issued to adviseyou to take a rest. This message onlyappears for a short time.
2.If you do not rest and the systemcontinues to detect that your drivingdeteriorates, it issues a further warning.This remains in the instrument clusterdisplay until you cancel it.
Note:The system does not warn you if thevehicle speed falls below approximately40 mph (65 km/h).

SWITCHING THE HAZARD
FLASHERS ON AND OFF
The hazard flasher button is onthe instrument panel. Press thebutton to switch the hazardflashers on if your vehicle is creating asafety hazard for other road users.
When you switch the hazard flashers on,all front and rear direction indicators flash.
Note:The hazard flashers operate whenthe ignition is in any position, or if the key isnot in the ignition. The battery loses chargeand could have insufficient power to restartyour vehicle.
Press the button again to switch them off.
JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE
JUMP STARTING PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Batteries normallyproduce explosive gases which cancause personal injury. Therefore, do notallow flames, sparks or lightedsubstances to come near the battery.When working near the battery, alwaysshield your face and protect your eyes.Always provide correct ventilation.
WARNING: Keep batteries out ofreach of children. Batteries containsulfuric acid. Avoid contact with skin,eyes or clothing. Shield your eyes whenworking near the battery to protectagainst possible splashing of acidsolution. In case of acid contact with skinor eyes, flush immediately with water fora minimum of 15 minutes and get promptmedical attention. If acid is swallowed,call a physician immediately.
WARNING: Use only adequatelysized cables with insulated clamps.
WARNING: Make sure that thecables are clear of any moving parts andfuel delivery system parts.
WARNING: Connect batteries withonly the same nominal voltage.
WARNING: If the engine is runningwhile the hood is open, stay clear ofmoving engine components. Failure tofollow this warning could result in seriouspersonal injury or death.
Do not attempt to push-start an automatictransmission vehicle. This could causetransmission damage.

You can override post impact braking bypressing the brake or accelerator pedal.

AUTOMATIC CRASH SHUTOFF
WHAT IS AUTOMATIC CRASHSHUTOFF
The automatic crash shutoff is designedto stop the fuel going to the engine in theevent of a moderate or severe crash.
Note:Not every impact causes a shutoff.
AUTOMATIC CRASH SHUTOFFPRECAUTIONS
WARNING: If your vehicle has beeninvolved in a crash, have the fuel systemchecked. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in fire, personal injury ordeath.
RE-ENABLING YOUR VEHICLE
1.Switch the ignition off.
2.Attempt to start your vehicle.
3.Switch the ignition off.
4.Attempt to start your vehicle.
Note:If your vehicle does not start after thethird attempt, have your vehicle checked assoon as possible.
RECOVERY TOWING
ACCESSING THE FRONT TOWINGPOINT
WARNING: Using recovery hooksis dangerous and should only be done bya person familiar with proper vehiclerecovery safety practices. Improper useof recovery hooks may cause hook failureor separation from the vehicle and couldresult in serious injury or death.
WARNING: Slowly remove theslack from the recovery strap prior topulling. Failure to do so can introducesignificantly higher loads which cancause the recovery hooks to break off, orthe recovery strap to fail which can causeserious injury or death.
WARNING: Never link two strapstogether with a clevis pin. These heavymetal objects could become projectilesif the strap breaks and can cause seriousinjury or death.
