WARNINGS
Stop refuelling after the fuelnozzle stops the second time.Additional fuel will fill the expansionspace in the fuel tank which couldlead to fuel overflowing. Fuel spillagecould be hazardous to other roadusers.
Do not use any kind of flamesor heat near the fuel system. The fuel system is under pressure. There is a risk of injury if the fuelsystem is leaking.
FUEL QUALITY - PETROL
Note:We recommend that you useonly high quality fuel without additivesor other engine treatments.
CAUTION
Do not use leaded petrol orpetrol with additives containingother metallic compounds (e.g.manganese-based). They coulddamage the emission system.
Use minimum 95 octaneunleaded petrol that meets thespecification defined by EN 228, orequivalent.
FUEL QUALITY -
FLEXIBLE FUEL
WARNINGS
Do not modify the fuel systemconfiguration or thecomponents in the system.
Do not replace the fuel systemor the components with partsnot specially designed to be usedwith bio ethanol.
CAUTIONS
Do not use leaded petrol orpetrol with additives containingother metallic compounds (e.g.manganese-based). They coulddamage the emission system.
Do not use methanol instead ofbio ethanol E 85
Note:We recommend that you useonly high quality fuel without additivesor other engine treatments.
Note:When using bio ethanol E 85,you may experience a higher fuelconsumption.
Note:The correct fuel type for yourvehicle is shown on a decal on theinside of the fuel filler flap.
Note:Your vehicle will operate wellon commercial quality 95 octaneunleaded petrol, but only high qualitybio ethanol E 85 offers the sameprotection and performance.

Long-term storage
Due to small amounts of corrosiveimpurities that may be found in thebio ethanol E 85, it is recommendedthat you fill the tank with only 95octane unleaded petrol prior tolong-term storage of your vehicle.
FUEL QUALITY - DIESEL
Note:We recommend that you useonly high quality fuel without additivesor other engine treatments.
WARNING
Do not mix diesel with oil, petrolor other liquids. This could causea chemical reaction.
CAUTION
Do not add kerosene, paraffin orpetrol to diesel. This could causedamage to the fuel system.
Note:We do not recommend theprolonged use of additives intendedto prevent fuel waxing.
Use diesel that meets thespecification defined by EN 590, orequivalent.
You can use diesel that contains upto 5% RME (bio diesel).

CAUTIONS
Avoid running out of fuel.
Do not crank the engine for longperiods.
Do not run the engine when aspark plug lead is disconnected.
Do not push-start or tow-startyour vehicle. Use booster cables.See Using booster cables (page209).
Do not switch the ignition offwhen driving.

To close, turn the cap clockwise untilit clicks.
REFUELLING
CAUTION
Do not attempt to start theengine if you have filled the fueltank with the incorrect fuel. This coulddamage the engine. Have the systemchecked by a properly trainedtechnician immediately.
FUEL CONSUMPTION
The CO2 and fuel consumptionfigures are derived from laboratorytests according to EEC Directive80/1268/EEC and subsequentamendments and are carried out byall vehicle manufacturers.
They are intended as a comparisonbetween makes and models ofvehicles. They are not intended torepresent the real world fuelconsumption you may get from yourvehicle. Real world fuel consumptionis governed by many factorsincluding; driving style, high speeddriving, stop/start driving, airconditioning usage, the accessoriesfitted and towing etc.
Your Ford dealer can give you adviceon improving your fuel consumption.

Engage reverse gear only whenthe vehicle is stationary.
Do not apply any undue lateralforce to the gear lever whenchanging from 5th to 4th gear as thiscould lead to the inadvertentselection of 2nd gear.
To avoid shifting noises whenengaging the reverse gear, waitapproximately three seconds withthe clutch depressed when thevehicle is stationary.
Reverse gear − 5-speedtransmission
To select reverse gear, move thegear lever towards the right and rear.
Reverse gear − 6-speedtransmission
1.Lift the locking ring.
2.Move the gear lever towards theleft and forwards.

OPERATION
Dual circuit braking system
WARNING
If a brake circuit fails, you willnotice a softer feel to the brakepedal. Press the brake pedal firmlyand allow for increased stoppingdistances. Stop and have thischecked immediately. Do notcontinue your journey.
Your vehicle is fitted with a diagonallysplit, dual circuit brake system. If abrake circuit fails, the other remainsoperational.
Disc brakes
Wet brake discs result in reducedbraking efficiency. Dab the brakepedal when driving from a car washto remove the film of water.
ABS
WARNING
The ABS does not relieve you ofyour responsibility to drive withdue care and attention.
The ABS helps you to maintain fullsteering and directional stability whenyou brake heavily in an emergency,by preventing the road wheels fromlocking. The ABS monitors the speedof each road wheel and varies thepressure to each brake. The ABSoptimizes the tyre-to-road adhesionwhen you brake heavily.
HINTS ON DRIVING WITH
ABS
When the ABS is operating, the brakepedal will pulse. This is normal.Maintain pressure on the brakepedal.
