LIMITATIONS
Speed-restricted Features
For your safety, some features are notavailable while the vehicle is in motion ator above 5 mph (8 km/h). Settings thatare not critical while driving your vehicleare shown as restricted on your display.Some of these settings include:
•Software updates.
•Personal profiles setup.
•Valet mode setup.
•Driver assistance settings.
•MyKey setup.
•Door keypad code setup.
These restricted features becomeavailable when your vehicle is no longer inmotion.
STATUS BAR
SYNC4 Features
The bar is on top of the display andindicates the status of your vehicle'sfeatures. It also contains the Vehicle andApplication drawers. See Changing theLanguage (page 143).
Status Area
The status area is on the right side of thestatus bar and provides information aboutvehicle features.
Audio System
Audio system muted.
Connected Device
Cell phone microphone muted.
Phone call in progress.
Media player connected usingBluetooth®.
Cell phone network signalstrength.
Cell phone roaming.
Text message received.
Unread email message.
Automatic crash notificationsystem off.

CONNECTING YOUR PHONE
Go to the settings menu on your device andswitch Bluetooth® on.
Press the phone option on thefeature bar.
1.Press Add Phone.
Note:A prompt alerts you to search for yourvehicle on your cell phone.
2.Select your vehicle on your cell phone.
Note:A number appears on your cell phoneand on the touchscreen.
3.Confirm the number on your cell phonematches the number on thetouchscreen.
Note:The touchscreen indicates that youhave successfully paired your cell phone.
4.Download the phonebook from yourcell phone when you are prompted.
Note:If you pair more than one cell phone,use the phone settings on the center displayto specify the primary phone. You canchange this setting at any time.
PHONE MENU
This menu becomes available after pairinga phone.
Recent Call List
Display and select an entry from a list ofprevious calls.
Contacts
Display a smart search form to look up yourcontacts. Use the List button toalphabetically sort your contacts.
Favorites
Display the list of favorite contacts thatare set up on your phone.
Messaging
Displays the list of text messages to read,listen to, or respond to.
Email
Displays the list of emails to read, listen to,or respond to.
Phone List
Display the list of paired or connecteddevices that you can select.
Note:Up to 12 devices can be stored.
Do Not Disturb
Reject incoming calls and switch ring tonesand alerts off.
Phone Keypad
Directly dial a number.

CONNECTING YOUR PHONE
Connecting your phone stores contact andcall data on your vehicle. This data is usedto provide intelligent suggestions. You canswitch this off in the touchscreen settingsmenu.
Note:Unpairing your phone will remove thecontact and call data from your vehicle andstop intelligent call suggestions.
Go to the settings menu on your device andswitch Bluetooth® on.
Select the phone option in thefeature drawer.
1.Select Add Phone.
2.Follow the instructions on the screento pair your device.

Browsing your Media Library
When a compatible mobile device isconnected to the vehicle, your medialibrary will be accessible through thetouchscreen. From the touchscreen, youcan browse through songs, albums, artists,and playlists on your mobile device.
Note:This feature is dependent on theconnected mobile device and the mediaapplication used.
Note:Browse feature functionality may belimited while driving.

When you start an app through the systemfor the first time, you could be asked togrant certain permissions. You can reviewand change the permissions that you havegranted at any time when your vehicle isnot moving. We recommend that youcheck your data plan before using yourapps through the system. Using themcould result in additional charges. We alsorecommend that you check the appprovider's terms and conditions andprivacy policy before using their app. Makesure that you have an active account forapps that you want to use through thesystem. Some apps will work with nosetup. Others require you to configuresome personal settings before you can usethem.

5.Select the app that you want to use onthe touchscreen.
Note:Connect your device to a USB port ifyou want to use a navigation app. Whenusing a navigation app, keep your deviceunlocked and the app open.
ENABLING APPS ON AN

1.If your device is connected via USB,switch Android Auto off.
2.Pair your device.
3.Start the apps on your device that youwant to use through SYNC.

Note:The system searches and connectsto compatible apps that are running on yourdevice.

Check Every Six Months
The battery connections. Clean if necessary.
The body and door drain holes for obstructions. Clean if necessary.
The cooling system fluid level and the coolant system strength.
The door weatherstrips for wear. Lubricate if necessary.
The hinges, latches and outside locks for proper operation. Lubricate if necessary.
The parking brake for proper operation.
The seatbelts and seat latches for wear and function.
Safety warning lamps, brake, ABS, airbag and seatbelt for operation.
The washer spray and wiper operation. Clean or replace blades as necessary.
Multi-Point Inspection
It is important to have the systems on yourvehicle regularly checked. This can helpidentify potential issues and prevent majorproblems. We recommend having thefollowing multi-point inspection performedat every scheduled maintenance intervalto help make sure your vehicle keepsrunning great.

ROLLOVER WARNING
WARNING: Utility vehicles have asignificantly higher rollover rate thanother types of vehicles.
WARNING: Vehicles with a highercenter of gravity (utility and four-wheeldrive vehicles) handle differently thanvehicles with a lower center of gravity(passenger cars). Avoid sharp turns,excessive speed and abrupt steering inthese vehicles. Failure to drive cautiouslyincreases the risk of losing control of yourvehicle, vehicle rollover, personal injuryand death.
WARNING: In a rollover crash, anunbelted person is significantly morelikely to die than a person wearing aseatbelt.
WARNING: Do not becomeoverconfident in the ability of four-wheeldrive vehicles. Although a four-wheeldrive vehicle may accelerate better thana two-wheel drive vehicle in low tractionsituations, it won't stop any faster thantwo-wheel drive vehicles. Always driveat a safe speed.
Utility vehicles and trucks handledifferently than passenger cars in thevarious driving conditions that areencountered on streets, highways andoff-road. Utility vehicles and trucks are notdesigned for cornering at speeds as highas passenger cars any more than low-slungsports cars are designed to performsatisfactorily under off-road conditions.

The BBB AUTO LINE program consists oftwo parts – mediation and arbitration.During mediation, a representative of theBBB will contact both you and Ford MotorCompany to explore options for settlementof the claim. If an agreement is not reachedduring mediation or you do not want toparticipate in mediation, and if your claimis eligible, you may participate in thearbitration process. An arbitration hearingwill be scheduled so that you can presentyour case in an informal setting before animpartial person. The arbitrator considersthe testimony provided and makes adecision after the hearing.
Disputes submitted to the BBB AUTO LINEprogram are usually decided within 40days after you file your claim with the BBB.You are not bound by the decision, andmay reject the decision and proceed tocourt where all findings of the BBB AutoLine dispute, and decision, are admissiblein the court action. Should you choose toaccept the BBB AUTO LINE decision, Fordis then bound by the decision, and mustcomply with the decision within 30 daysof receipt of your acceptance letter.
