WARNING

You can control various systems on yourvehicle using the information displaycontrols on the steering wheel.Corresponding information shows in theinformation display.

Keep a record for at least one month andrecord the type of driving (city or highway).This provides an accurate estimate of yourvehicle’s fuel economy under currentdriving conditions. Keeping records duringsummer and winter will show howtemperature impacts fuel economy.
Conditions
•Heavily loading your vehicle reducesfuel economy.
•Carrying unnecessary weight in yourvehicle may reduce fuel economy.
•Adding certain accessories to yourvehicle such as bug deflectors, rollbarsor light bars, running boards and skiracks may reduce fuel economy.
•Using fuel blended with alcohol maylower fuel economy.
•Fuel economy may decrease with lowertemperatures.
•Fuel economy may decrease whendriving short distances.
•You will get better fuel economy whendriving on flat terrain than when drivingon hilly terrain.
EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM
WARNINGS
Do not park, idle, or drive your vehiclein dry grass or other dry ground cover.The emission system heats up theengine compartment and exhaust system,which can start a fire.
Exhaust leaks may result in entry ofharmful and potentially lethal fumesinto the passenger compartment. Ifyou smell exhaust fumes inside yourvehicle, have your dealer inspect yourvehicle immediately. Do not drive if yousmell exhaust fumes.
Your vehicle is equipped with variousemission control components and acatalytic converter that will enable yourvehicle to comply with applicable exhaustemission standards.
To make sure that the catalytic converterand other emission control componentscontinue to work properly:
•Use only the specified fuel listed.
•Avoid running out of fuel.
•Do not turn off the ignition while yourvehicle is moving, especially at highspeeds.
•Have the items listed in scheduledmaintenance information performedaccording to the specified schedule.
The scheduled maintenance items listedin scheduled maintenance information areessential to the life and performance ofyour vehicle and to its emissions system.
If you use anything other than Ford,Motorcraft or Ford-authorized parts formaintenance replacements or for serviceof components affecting emission control,such non-Ford parts should be equivalentto genuine Ford Motor Company parts inperformance and durability.
Illumination of the service engine soonindicator, charging system warning light orthe temperature warning light, fluid leaks,strange odors, smoke or loss of enginepower could indicate that the emissioncontrol system is not working properly.
An improperly operating or damagedexhaust system may allow exhaust toenter the vehicle. Have a damaged orimproperly operating exhaust systeminspected and repaired immediately.
Do not make any unauthorized changes toyour vehicle or engine. By law, vehicleowners and anyone who manufactures,repairs, services, sells, leases, tradesvehicles, or supervises a fleet of vehiclesare not permitted to intentionally remove

Fuel and Refueling

GENERAL INFORMATION
Use only approved wheel and tire sizes,using other sizes could damage yourvehicle. If you change the diameter of thetires from that fitted at the factory, thespeedometer may not display the correctspeed. Take your vehicle to an authorizedFord dealer to have the systemreprogrammed. If you intend to change thesize of the wheels from that fitted by themanufacturer, you can check the suitabilitywith an authorized dealer.
Additional information related to thefunctionality and maintenance of your tirescan be found later in this chapter. See TireCare (page 276).
The Ford recommended tire inflationpressures can be found on the Tire Label,which is located on the B-pillar or the edgeof the driver's door. This information canalso be found on the Safety ComplianceCertification Label (affixed to either thedoor hinge pillar, door-latch post, or thedoor edge that meets the door last post;next to the driver’s seating position).
Ford strongly recommends maintainingthese tire pressures at all times. Failure tofollow the tire pressure recommendationscan cause uneven treadwear patterns,reduced fuel economy, and adverselyaffect the way your vehicle handles.
Note:Check and set the tire pressure at theambient temperature in which you areintending to drive your vehicle and when thetires are cold.
Note:Check your tire pressures at leastonce per month.
Set the pressure for your spare tire to thehighest value given for your vehicle and tiresize combination (if equipped).
Notice to utility vehicle and truckowners
WARNINGS
Utility vehicles have a significantlyhigher rollover rate than other typesof vehicles. To reduce the risk ofserious injury or death from a rollover orother crash you must avoid sharp turns andabrupt maneuvers, drive at safe speeds forthe conditions, keep tires inflated to Fordrecommended pressures, never overloador improperly load your vehicle, and makesure every passenger is properly restrained.
In a rollover crash, an unbeltedperson is significantly more likely todie than a person wearing a seat belt.All occupants must wear seat belts andchildren/infants must use appropriaterestraints to minimize the risk of injury orejection.
Do not become overconfident in theability of four-wheel drive vehicles.Although a four-wheel drive vehiclemay accelerate better than a two-wheeldrive vehicle in low traction situations, itwon't stop any faster than two-wheel drivevehicles. Always drive at a safe speed.

USING SNOW CHAINS
WARNING
Snow tires must be the same size,load index and speed rating as thoseoriginally provided by Ford. Use ofany tire or wheel not recommended byFord can affect the safety andperformance of your vehicle, which couldresult in an increased risk of loss of control,vehicle rollover, personal injury and death.Additionally, the use of non-recommendedtires and wheels can cause steering,suspension, axle, transfer case or powertransfer unit failure. Follow the Fordrecommended tire inflation pressure foundon the Safety Compliance CertificationLabel (on the door hinge pillar, door latchpost or the door edge that meets the doorlatch post, next to the driver seat), or TireLabel on the B-Pillar or the edge of thedriver door. Failure to follow the tirepressure recommendations can causeuneven treadwear patterns and adverselyaffect the way your vehicle handles.
Note:The suspension insulation andbumpers will help prevent vehicle damage.Do not remove these components from yourvehicle when using snow tires and chains.
The tires on your vehicle have all-weathertreads to provide traction in rain and snow.However, in some climates, you may needto use snow tires and cables. If you needto use cables, it is recommended that steelwheels (of the same size andspecifications) be used, as cables may chipaluminum wheels.
Follow these guidelines when using snowtires and chains:
•If possible, avoid fully loading yourvehicle.
•Use only cable type chains or chainsoffered by Ford/Lincoln as anaccessory or equivalent. Otherconventional link type chains maycontact and cause damage to thevehicle's wheel house and/or body.
•Do not install chains on the front tiresas this may interfere with suspensioncomponents.
•Only certain snow cables or chainshave been approved by Ford/Lincolnas safe for use on your vehicle with thefollowing tires: 265/70R17 and275/65R18.
•You should install snow cables orchains that have been rated as SAEClass S.
•Install chains securely, verifying thatthe chains do not touch any wiring,brake lines, or fuel lines.
•Do not exceed 31 mph (50 km/h) orless if recommended by the chainmanufacturer while using snow chains.
•Drive cautiously. If you hear the chainsrub or bang against your vehicle, stopand retighten the chains. If this doesnot work, remove the chains to preventdamage to your vehicle.
•Remove the tire chains when they areno longer needed. Do not use tirechains on dry roads.
•Purchase chains or cables from amanufacturer that clearly labels bodyto tire dimension restrictions. The snowchains or cables must be mounted inpairs on the rear tires only.

You can adjust the view in presetincrements. You can also pinch to zoom inor out of the map.
The information bar tells you the namesof streets, cities or landmarks as you hoverover them with the crosshair curser.
You can change your view of the map bytapping on the location indicator icon onthe right hand side of the screen. You canchoose from the following options:
Heading up (2D map) Thisalways shows the direction offorward travel to be upward onthe screen. This view is availablefor map scales up to 3 mi (5 km).
North up (2D map) alwaysshows the northern direction tobe upward on the screen.
3D map mode provides anelevated perspective of the map.Adjust this viewing angle androtate the map 180 degrees bytouching the map twice, andthen dragging your finger along the shadedbar with arrows at the bottom of the map.
Re-center the map by pressingthis icon whenever you scroll themap away from your vehicle’scurrent location.
Points of Interest (POI)grouping icon: You can chooseup to three POI icons to displayon the map. If the chosen POIsare located close together or areat the same location a box is used todisplay a single category icon instead ofrepeating the same icon, in order to reduceclutter. When you select the box on themap, a pop-up appears indicating howmany POIs are in this location. Select thepop up to see a list of the available POIs.You can scroll through and select POIsfrom this list.
If your vehicle is low on charge or fuel,station icons automatically display on themap.
If you have subscribed to SiriusXM Trafficand Travel Link (where available), trafficflow will be indicated on the map by green(clear), yellow (slowing), and red(stopped) road highlights. Traffic flow isindicated where the information isavailable and varies across the US.
You can choose to display traffic icons onthe map representing twelve differenttypes of incidents. See Settings (page414).
