WHAT IS ONBOARD SCALES
Onboard scales provides the estimatedpayload of your vehicle and warns whenyour vehicle is overloaded.
HOW DOES ONBOARD SCALES
WORK
Onboard scales uses sensors mounted tothe suspension to calculate the vehicle'spayload.
ONBOARD SCALES
LIMITATIONS
You cannot use the system if any of thefollowing occur:
•The wheels are not pointed straightahead.
•Your vehicle is not in park (P).
•Your vehicle is not on a level surface.
•The tire pressures are below therecommended levels.
•Your vehicle is off.
USING ONBOARD SCALES
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Onboard Scales.
Note:You can also access on-board scaleusing the FordPass app.

As the water depth increases, you mustreduce your vehicle speed to avoidpotential vehicle damage.
•Always determine the depth beforeattempting a water crossing. Neverdrive through water that is higher thanthe bottom of the wheel hubs.
•Slowly proceed and avoid splashingwater any more than is necessary.
•Be aware that obstacles and debrismay be beneath the water’s surface.
•Keep the doors fully closed during thewater crossing.
•After driving through water and as soonas it is safe to do so check the brakes,horn, lights, and steering wheel toconfirm those systems are functioningproperly.
Note:Engine damage can occur if waterenters the air filter.

OFF-ROAD DRIVING AIDS -RAPTOR
Selecting an Off-Road Drive Mode
Using the appropriate drive mode increasesyour vehicle's control. See Drive ModeControl (page 362).
Using Four-Wheel Drive
Your vehicle has a four-wheel drive systemthat offers various modes to help youoptimize traction on any off-road surface.See Four-Wheel Drive (page 274).
Using the Cameras Off-Road
Use the 360 degree camera to enhanceyour off-road experience. See 360 DegreeCamera (page 332).
Using the Rear Differential Lock
When engaged, the rear differential lockprovides additional traction to your vehicleby forcing the two rear wheels to turn atthe same speed.
Note:Rear differential lock is only availablewhen the vehicle is in 4H or 4L. SeeElectronic Locking Differential (page 284).
Using Trail Control
Trail Control provides you the ability tomaneuver the vehicle without using thethrottle and brake pedals.
The system controls acceleration andbraking in difficult off-road environments,which allows you to focus on steering. SeeTrail Control (page 312).
Trail Control Performance:
•Manages wheel slip to maximizetraction.
•Provides braking to maximize tractionin descents.
Using Trail One Pedal Drive (If
Equipped)
Trail one pedal drive allows you toaccelerate and brake using only theaccelerator pedal.
Use this when driving over large obstacles,such as rocks or logs, to help maintain aconstant vehicle speed.
In 4H, the system offers lift pedal brakingand auto hill hold functionality. See WhatIs Trail One Pedal Drive (page 313).
Note:Trail one pedal drive is only availablewhen the vehicle is in 4H or 4L.

When operating your vehicle with asnowplow:
•Do not exceed 45 mph (72 km/h).
•Your engine could run at a highertemperature than normal.
•If you are driving more than 15 mi(24 km) at temperatures abovefreezing, angle the plow bladeeither full left or full right to providemaximum airflow to the radiator.
•If you are driving less than 15 mi(24 km) at speeds up to 45 mph(72 km/h) in cold weather, you donot need to worry about bladeposition to provide maximumairflow.
•Shift to 4L when plowing in small areasat speeds below 5 mph (8 km/h).
•Shift to 4H when plowing larger areasor light snow at higher speeds above5 mph (8 km/h). Do not exceed15 mph (24 km/h).
•Do not shift the transmission from aforward gear to reverse (R) until theengine is at idle and the wheels havestopped.
Note:Careless or high-speed driving whensnowplowing, which results in significantvehicle decelerations, can deploy the airbag.Such driving also increases the risk ofaccidents.
Note:Drive your vehicle at least 500 mi(800 km) before using your vehicle forsnowplowing.
SNOWPLOW MODE
WHAT IS SNOWPLOW MODE
Snowplow mode reduces vehicle electricalload to allow the electrical system to havesufficient power to support residentialsnowplow use.
SWITCHING SNOWPLOW MODEON AND OFF
Vehicles receive a physical button in theinstrument panel or an option in the SYNCmenu to enable snowplow mode.
Snowplow mode does not remember thesetting when you switch your vehicle off.You must re-enable the mode every timeyou wish to use it.
The following features turn off and aredisabled in snowplow mode and cannotbe turned back on until snowplow modeis switched off:
•120 V inverter.
•Fog lamps.
•Heated and cooled front seats.
The body module also activates thesnowplow relay that provides power toaftermarket snowplow controls.
Note:The electrical system supports theaddition of a residential snowplow of up to60 A continuous, and snowplow lights ofup to 20 A continuous using snowplowmode. The system does not supportsnowplow usage with additional electricalaftermarket accessories.
Push Button (If Equipped)
Press the snowplow button on theinstrument panel to switch on snowplowmode. The snowplow button illuminatesand a message displays.
Press the snowplow button or switch offthe vehicle to switch off snowplow mode.
Using SYNC (If Equipped)
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Snow Plow Mode.
3.Switch Snow Plow Mode on or off.

If you replace the battery make sure itmatches the electrical requirements ofyour vehicle.
If you disconnect or replace the batteryand your vehicle has an automatictransmission, it must relearn its adaptivestrategy. Because of this, the transmissionmay shift firmly when first driven. This isnormal operation while the transmissionfully updates its operation to optimumshift feel.
Battery Sensor Reset
When you install a new battery, reset thebattery sensor by doing the following:
1.Switch the ignition on, and leave theengine off.
Note:Complete Steps 2 and 3 within 10seconds.
2.Flash the high beam headlamps fivetimes, ending with the high beams off.
3.Press and release the brake pedal threetimes.
The battery warning lamp flashes threetimes to confirm that the reset issuccessful.
Battery Management System (If
Equipped)
The system monitors battery conditionsand takes actions to extend battery life. Ifexcessive battery drain is detected, thesystem temporarily disables someelectrical systems to protect the battery.
Systems included are:
•Heated rear window.
•Heated seats.
•Climate control.
•Heated steering wheel.
•Audio unit.
•Navigation system.
A message may appear in the informationdisplay to alert you that battery protectionactions are active. This message is only fornotification that an action is taking place,and not intended to indicate an electricalproblem or that the battery requiresreplacement.
After battery replacement, or in somecases after charging the battery with anexternal charger, the battery managementsystem requires eight hours of vehicle sleeptime to relearn the battery state of charge.During this time, your vehicle must remainfully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note:Prior to relearning the battery stateof charge, the battery management systemmay temporarily disable some electricalsystems.
Electrical Accessory Installation
To make sure the battery managementsystem works correctly, do not connect anelectrical device ground connectiondirectly to the battery negative post. Thiscan cause inaccurate measurements ofthe battery condition and potentialincorrect system operation.
Note:If you add electrical accessories orcomponents to the vehicle, it may adverselyaffect battery performance and durability.This may also affect the performance ofother electrical systems in the vehicle.
Remove and Reinstall the Battery
Install a battery approved for use by ourspecifications. See Capacities andSpecifications (page 578).
To disconnect or remove the battery, dothe following:
1.Apply the parking brake and switch theignition off.
2.Switch all electrical equipment off, forexample lights and radio.

pressure sensors are mounted intoeach tire on your trailer. Thesensors send a message to yourvehicle indicating the currenttrailer tire pressure andtemperature.
If the trailer tire pressuremonitoring system detects that atire is low, a warning messageappears in the information display.The trailer tire information screenin the information displayhighlights the tire with a lowpressure.
If the trailer tire pressuremonitoring system detects that atire temperature is over temp, awarning message appears in theInformation display. The trailer tireinformation screen in theinformation display highlights thetire with a high temperature.
The main function of the trailer tirepressure monitoring system is towarn you when your trailer tiresneed air or if the tires areexperiencing high temperatures.It can also warn you in the eventthe system is no longer capableof functioning as intended. SeeTire Pressure MonitoringSystem – InformationMessages (page 560).
When a Temporary Spare orNew Tire is Installed
If you have replaced a trailer tirewith a new or spare tire, a warningmessage appears and pressurereadings are no longer displayedfor that tire.
To restore the full function of thetrailer tire pressure monitoringsystem:
•Have the damaged wheel andtire assembly repaired andremounted to your trailer.
•Install the trailer tire pressuremonitoring sensor into the newwheel and tire assembly.
•Perform the trailer tire pressuremonitoring system resetprocedure.
Trailer Tire PressureMonitoring System ResetProcedure
Note:You need to perform the tirepressure monitoring system resetprocedure after each tire rotation,or when a new trailer tire pressuresensor is installed into a trailer tire.
The trailer tire pressure monitoringsystem can be reset through themenu in the information display.See Tire Pressure MonitoringSystem – InformationMessages (page 560). Performingthe trailer setup process alsoresets the trailer tire pressuremonitoring system.

It is important to rely upon your dealershipto properly diagnose and repair yourvehicle.
We strongly recommend only using ourgenuine or our authorized re-manufacturedreplacement parts engineered for yourvehicle.
Additives and Chemicals
We do not recommend using chemicals oradditives not approved by us as part ofyour vehicle’s normal maintenance. Pleaseconsult your warranty information.
Oils, Fluids and Flushing
In many cases, fluid discoloration is anormal operating characteristic and, byitself, does not necessarily indicate aconcern or that the fluid needs to bechanged. Have discolored fluids that alsoshow signs of overheating or foreignmaterial contamination checkedimmediately.
Make sure to change the vehicle’s oils andfluids at the specified intervals or inconjunction with a repair. Flushing is aviable way to change fluid for many vehiclesub-systems during scheduledmaintenance. It is critical that systems areflushed only with new fluid that is the sameas that required to fill and operate thesystem or using our approved flushingchemical.
Owner Checks and Services
Make sure you perform the following basicmaintenance checks and inspections.
Check Every Month
The engine oil level.
Function of all interior and the exterior lights.
The tires including the spare for wear and proper pressure.
The windshield washer fluid level.
Check Every Six Months
The battery connections. Clean if necessary.
The body and door drain holes for obstructions. Clean if necessary.
The cooling system fluid level and the coolant system strength.
The door weatherstrips for wear. Lubricate if necessary.
The hinges, latches and outside locks for proper operation. Lubricate if necessary.
The parking brake for proper operation.

Driver Training/EVOC
Replace engine oil and filter as indicated by the informationdisplay and perform services listed in the extreme usagescheduled maintenance chart.
As required
Inspect brake pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, and service asrequired.
Inspect engine oil level.Inspect vehicle every dayprior to starting trainingSet tire pressure. Refer to driver door placard for cold tirepressure information.
Inspect tire quality for wear.
Set wheel lug nut torque. The cold wheel lug nut torqueis 150 lb.ft (204 Nm). If wheels are torqued while they arehot (after 15 minutes of EVOC driving), torque may bechecked to hot wheel lug nut torque of 70 lb.ft (95 Nm).
Proper functioning of safety devices (seat belts, no air baglights, etc.)
Front differential/axle fluid. Check front hub / bearing bolttorque to 130 lb.ft (175 Nm).25 hours of training use
Rear differential/axle fluid.100 hours of training use
Change transmission and transfer case fluids.Annually
Note:Follow base owner guide directionfor 1,000-mile vehicle break-in prior to usingvehicle for training purposes.
Note:Incorporate vehicle cool-down afterhard driving.
Note:Perform Training / EVOC serviceaccording to the extreme usage scheduledmaintenance chart.
Note:Use police responder part numbersfor replacement parts.
Engine Idle Hour Meter
Your vehicle may have an idle meter toindicate how much time the vehicle hasbeen sitting in park (P) or neutral (N). Themeter is incorporated with the vehicleodometer. Depressing the odometer-resetbutton once displays the trip odometer(miles [kilometers] following by a "T" fortrip odometer); depressing theodometer-reset button a second timedisplays the idle meter (hours following byan "H" for hours). The idle meter onlyaccumulates time while the vehicle is inpark (P) or neutral (N). Displayed time iscumulative for the vehicle and cannot bereset to zero. Police vehicles often
