CABIN AIR FILTER
Your vehicle is equipped with a cabin air
filter. It is located behind the center
console.
The particulate filtration system reduces
the concentration of airborne particles
such as dust, spores and pollen in the air
supplied to the interior of your vehicle.
Note:
Make sure you have a cabin air filter
installed at all times. This prevents foreign
objects from entering the system. Running
the system without a filter in place could
result in degradation or damage to the
system.

The particulate filtration system gives you
and your passengers the following
benefits:
•
It improves your driving comfort by
reducing particle concentration.
• It improves the interior compartment
cleanliness.
• It protects the climate control
components from particle deposits.
Replace the filter at regular intervals. See
Scheduled Maintenance (page 370).
For additional cabin air filter information,
or to replace the filter, see an authorized
dealer.

1 Failure to use the correct air filter element may result in severe engine damage. Your
warranty may be void for any damage to the engine if the correct air filter element is not
used.
2 Only use the specified replacement oil filter. The use of a non-specified oil filter can
result in engine damage. See Scheduled Maintenance (page 370).
3 For spark plug replacement, see an authorized dealer. Replace the spark plugs at the
appropriate intervals.
Note: Replace the spark plugs with ones that meet Ford material and design specifications
for your vehicle, such as Motorcraft or equivalent replacement parts. Your warranty may be
void for any damage to the engine if the correct spark plugs are not used.
Do not use American Petroleum Institute S category oils labeled as SN, SM, SL or a lower
category unless the label also displays the American Petroleum Institute certification
mark. These oils do not meet all of the requirements of your vehicle's engine and emissions
system.

Normal Scheduled Maintenance
Your vehicle is equipped with an oil minder
system that indicates when the engine oil
should be changed under normal operating
conditions.
This means you do not have to remember
to change the oil on a mileage-based
schedule; the vehicle lets you know when
an oil change is due by displaying ENGINE
OIL CHANGE DUE or OIL CHANGE
REQUIRED in the information display. Every 10000 miles (16000 kilometers) or 12 months
Change engine oil and filter. **
Rotate the tires.
Perform a multi-point inspection (recommended).
Inspect the automatic transmission fluid level. Consult your dealer for requirements.
Inspect the brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses and parking brake.
Inspect the cabin air filter.
Inspect the engine cooling system strength and hoses.
Inspect the exhaust system and heat shields.
Inspect the half-shaft boots.
Inspect the steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tire-rod ends, driveshaft and U-
joints. Lubricate any areas with grease fittings.
Inspect the tires, tire wear and measure the tread depth.
Inspect the wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or
drag.
* Do not exceed one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers) between service intervals.
** Reset the oil minder system after each engine oil and filter change. See
Engine Oil
Check (page 182). Additional Maintenance Items
