Accessing the features of your media menu
SYNC’s media menu allows you to select which source you would like to
listen to, how you would like to play your music (by artist, genre, shuffle,
repeat, etc.), and also if you need to add, connect or delete devices.
To access your media menu:
1. Press AUX and then MENU to access theMedia Menu.
2. Scroll to cycle through the following features:
Play Menu: Allows you to play your music by artist, album, genre,
playlists, tracks, similar music or to simply, play all. You can also choose
to Explore USB to view the supported digital music files on your playing
device.
Refer toPlay Menulater in this section for more information.
Select Source: Allows you to select and play music from your USB port,
auxiliary input jack (line in) or stream music from yourBluetooth
enabled phone. Press OK to select and then scroll to choose from:
•*USB: Press OK to access music plugged into your USB port.
SYNC will also allow you to plug in devices to charge them (if
supported by your device).
•Bluetooth Audio:This is a phone dependent featurewhich
allows you to stream music playing on yourBluetoothenabled
phone. If supported by your device, you can press
SEEKto
access the previous/next track.
•Line in: Press OK to select and play music from your portable
music player over the vehicle’s speakers.Note:If you have already
connected a device to the USB port, you cannot access the line in
feature. Some digital media players require both USB and Line in
ports to stream data and music separately.
* Once connected, SYNC will index any readable media files. (The
time required to complete this depends on the size of the media
content being indexed.) IfAutoplayis on, you can access media
files randomly as they are indexed. If turned off, indexed media is
not available until the indexing process is complete. SYNC is
capable of indexing thousands of average size media and will notify
you if the maximum indexing file size is reached.

4. Press OK and then scroll to select from the following:
Add Bluetooth Device: This is a speed dependent featurewhich
allows you to pair additional devices to the system.
1. Press OK to select and press OK again whenFind SYNCappears
in the display.
2. Follow the directions in your phone’s user guide to put your
phone into discovery mode. A six digit PIN will appear in the
display.
3. When prompted on your phone’s six digit display, enter the PIN.
You can now change SYNC sources to BT Audio and stream music
from your device.
Connect Bluetooth Device: Allows you to connect a previously paired
Bluetoothenabled phone.
1. Press OK to select and view a list of devices.
2. Scroll until the desired device is chosen and press OK to connect
the device.
Set Bluetooth On/Off: Allows you to turn theBluetoothfeature on /off.
•Press OK and scroll to toggle between On and Off. When the
desired selection is chosen, press OK.
Note:Turning OffBluetoothwill disconnect allBluetoothdevices
and deactivate allBluetoothfeatures.
Delete Device: Allows you to delete a paired media device.
•Press OK and scroll to select the device. Press OK to confirm.
Delete All Devices: Allows you to delete all previously paired devices.
•Press OK to select.
Return: Press OK to exit the current menu.
Advanced menu options
This menu allows you to access settings such as prompts, language,
performing a master reset as well as returning to factory defaults.
To access:
1. Press AUX and then MENU to access theMedia Menu.
2. Scroll untilSystem Settingsappears and select OK.
3. Scroll untilAdvancedappears.

Turning off speed control
To turn off the speed control, press and release OFF or turn off the
ignition.
Note:When you turn off the speed control or the ignition, your speed
control set speed memory is erased.

MyKeyrestricted features
Standard settings – these settings cannot be changed
•Belt-Mindercannot be cleared and will not expire. The audio system
will be muted whenever Belt-Minderis activated until the safety belts
are buckled. Refer to theSeating and Safety Restraintschapter for a
detailed description of Belt-Minderoperation.
•Low fuel warnings are displayed in the message center followed by a
chime when the distance to empty value reaches 75 miles (120 km).
•The following systems, if equipped, cannot be turned off: parking aid,
blind spot information system (BLIS) with cross traffic alert and
collision warning system.
Optional settings – these settings can be changed
•Vehicle speed is limited to 80 mph (130 km/h). Visual warnings are
displayed followed by a chime when the vehicle speed has reached
80 mph (130 km/h).
•Visual warnings are displayed followed by a chime when a preselected
vehicle speed of 45, 55 or 65 mph (75, 90, or 105 km/h) is exceeded.
•The maximum volume of the audio system is limited to 45%. MAX
VOLUME MY KEY LIMIT will be displayed in the audio system display
when attempting to exceed the limited volume.
•The AdvanceTracsystem cannot be turned off. When this optional
setting is on, the MyKeyuser will not be able to deactivate the
system.Note:It may be beneficial to deactivate the AdvanceTrac
system if the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud or sand.
Create a MyKey
To program MyKeyon one of the keys programmed to the vehicle,
insert the key that you want to make a MyKeyinto the ignition. For
vehicles equipped with push button start, put the intelligent access key
in the backup slot; see theDrivingchapter for the location of the
backup slot. Turn the ignition on. Use the message center buttons to do
the following:
1. Get into the main menu, select Settings then MyKey by pressing OK
or the > button.
2. Press OK to select CREATE.
3. Hold the OK button as prompted until you see LABEL KEY AS
MYKEY.

Ignition modes
1. Off — press and release the START/STOP button without applying the
brake pedal (automatic transmission) or clutch pedal (manual
transmission) when your vehicle is in on mode or when the engine is
running.Note:In order to switch off the engine while the vehicle is in
motion, press and hold the START/STOP button for at least one second,
or press the START/STOP button three times within two seconds. Then,
shift to neutral and use the brakes to bring the vehicle to a safe stop.
After the vehicle has stopped, turn the engine off and shift into park.
WARNING:Switching off the engine when the vehicle is still
moving will result in a loss of brake and steering assistance. The
steering will not be locked, but higher effort will be required. When the
ignition is switched off some electrical circuits, warning lights and
indicators may also be off.
2. On — press the START/STOP button without applying the brake pedal
(automatic transmission) or clutch pedal (manual transmission). This will
power your vehicle’s electrical system and the warning lights in the
instrument cluster will illuminate, but the engine will remain off.
3. Start — press the START/STOP button (for any length of time) while
applying the brake pedal (automatic transmission) or clutch pedal
(manual transmission).
There may be areas inside your vehicle where the IA key is not detected.
If the message KEY NOT DETECTED appears on your multifunction
display when you press the START/STOP button, it may be necessary to
move your IA key to another area within the vehicle. The IA key may not
be detected near the roof (between the driver or passenger sunvisor and
the roof, or in the overhead console area) or in the extreme corners of
the rear package tray, near your audio speakers. It is not recommended
that you stow the IA key in these locations. If you move the IA key to a
location where it has been detected before and you still see the KEY
NOT DETECTED message, your IA key’s battery may be low or you may
be in an area with excessive radio frequency interference. If this occurs,
you can use the backup method to start your vehicle (see below).
